Jonathan and I just returned from Crawford County, Kansas. Wes, and everyone at Atkinson Expeditions, treated us like kings. Top notch food, toasty cabin to come to every evening, and copious amounts of deer equal a perfect hunt in my book! Unfortunately, due to a lack of concentration at the moment of truth (more than once), I did not connect. Shawn Monsen of FMP killed a huge 161 buck the day we got there spot and stalk. Marty Edwards and Curt Wells both also killed great bucks.
We had a couple very frigid days to test the 09' gear. It got as cold as 17 degrees before wind chill (below 10 degrees likely), and never warmer than about 45 degrees. One day Shawn and I spent part of day in a tree stand when it was about 25 degrees with steady twenty to thirty mile an hour winds. Everything worked wonders......
All in all it was an unforgettable hunt and I will always look forward to getting back to Kansas in November.....
