Fortress of Stone

Stone’s Sheep are monarchs. Royalty of the high country. They rule from high thrones in high places, perched on impossible spires in their mountain palaces.

Only men with strong hearts and strong legs pursue them. Countless hunters hear the call, but few have the fortitude to return with the treasure they seek. In the summer of 2011, my brother Cam and I pursued Stone’s Sheep in the Cassiar Mountains of British Columbia. We tried to catch on film our passion for the mountains, our love of bowhunting sheep and the bond we share as brothers.

Special thanks to Cam for teaming up with me on this hunt. His knowledge of sheep, mental toughness and physical ability in the mountains are matched by few. Both of us are eternally inspired by our father – a great bowhunter, sheep guide and friend.

Dawntrell~ We both carried Mystery Ranch NICE 6500 in Optifade. Awesome packs for week or longer hunts and heavy load hauling!
Aww, I cant wait for a hunt like that. What kind of packs you guys have?
Thanks for the kind words everyone. Capturing the shot was all Cam. Somehow, he managed to lead the stalk, run the video camera, range the distance and keep me calm... all at the same time! Pretty lucky to have a brother and sheep hunting partner like that!

Tim~ We carried two Nikon DSLR's and used the D7000 for filming with 17-55mm 2.8 and 18-105mm 3.5 lens' and a Sennheiser MKE 400 Shotgun Mic.

Jonathan~ YOU are the rockstar! Congrats on a smoker Dall!!!

What Dale said. Awesome song choice and great camera work.
Team Foss strikes again. You guys are all such rockstars! Thanks for sharing your adventures with us. This is a great piece.
This kind of shooting/editing/composition is where hunting films need to, and will go, as the hunting audiences come to expect more. More quality, authenticity and emotion put into the product--I think the days of over-hyped, grip and grin "whack em and stack em" videos are soon to be over.
Well done! I only wish it were about 30 minutes longer! And nice work capturing the shot as well; not an easy task.
I was curious--what kind of camera rig did you use? (lenses, etc.)
THAT ... Gave me goose bumps! Awesome
