To start this review off I would like to tell anyone who reads this post that this coat is awesome. If you are ify or wishy wash about getting one do it. The area I live in is Mid Minnesota. If your not familiar with the area we have a vast range of seasons and tempatures, summers in the 90s and winter temps as low as -20. That being said this coat handles -20 great, but on the other hand if your winters are around 40 degrees this coat might make ya a little warm. My only complaint is the zipper some times it gets stuck on material under it. So it's not a bad zipper they just should of sewed the material underneath tighter. One other thing to be careful of is with the inside of the jacket. I have noticed that the fabric holding the insulation in is relatively delicate. So be careful not to where a rough under garment. Sitka did a great job with this coat. Overall thoughts are positive. Pick yourself up one of these and get lost in the great outdoors.

A very well constructed coat, but I really have not had it long enough to experience all of the elements in my area. I'm sure it will do well like the other Sitka gear I have purchased. The only negative I have with this coat thus far is the front zipper. The interior storm flap is constantly getting jammed in the zipper so it doesn't operate properly - very frustrating! My wife is looking to use a strip of Velcro to keep the storm flap pulled back and away from the zipper, but that defeats the purpose of why it is there in the first place. I wish there was a simple solution to this issue, so if anyone has any suggestions I would welcome the feedback.

I just returned from a hunting trip with 25 mph winds, 15 degrees and a sleet storm. My boreal jacket was AWESOME!!! I was warm all day and 100% dry. I also liked that the jacket was not at all bulky. In my opinion the best cold weather waterfowl jacket ever made, nothing is even close. I usually take an XL but went with a 2XL and it fits perfect with a few layers underneath. I am not a gore tester so I am not biased. Worth every penny and then some.

Very well designed jacket. Going from the Drake 4 in 1 to this coat I was instantly impressed. From the two sets of lofty fleece lined pockets to the internal cargo net on both sides that can keep extra gloves warm or accommodate large chemical hand warmers this jacket has thought put into it! The fill really lofts up to create a warm barrier to trap heat and the gore tex keeps you dry. They also designed the coat to have zero insulation in the last 8" or so of the jacket so it does not absorb water when deep wading setting dekes or grabbing birds. The shell pockets are lined with tough fabric to keep from tearing or wearing and have magnets to keep the flaps up so grabbing shells is a breeze. My only insight would be to go a size up if buying this for a true late season jacket. I fell into the Large parameters but after trying it on over a sweat shirt and then putting it over heavy neoprene waders I quickly realized I needed an XL and sitka had no problem exchanging it for me. The larger size felt bulky at first but when shouldering my gun I felt no restriction at all. I am NOT a Gore gear tester so I have a completely un-biased opinion. The price really is up there but what you get for that money is well worth it.

The addition of this jacket has taken the cold weather gear for waterfowl hunters to a new level. The idea that a hunter can now have a down jacket that is 100% waterproof is going to allow hunters to stay in the field longer and harvest more birds. The fit of the jacket is great and doesn't feel to bulky when wearing is. This will allow the hunter to have a full range of motion when drawing on approaching birds. The hood on the jacket provides excellent protection and actually moves with the hunter so that your view is not obstructed. Hunters will have ample pockets to store accessories for a full days hunt. Two fleece lined handwarmer pockets are set high on the jacket. The Boreal Jacket is designed to keep hunters warm, but you will still want to layer underneath to provide a hunting system. As a GORE gear tester, I have been able to use this jacket in all conditions including temps down to -20 and windchills in the -40 degree range. I was remarkably comfortable in the Boreal Jacket.

What method do you use to ship your products?
A. All of our orders are shipped via FedEx. Standard Ground, 2-Day or Overnight deliveries are available. Additional charges do apply for express shipments, oversized items and/or duties & customs into Canada.
How do I track my order?
A. If you have entered a valid email address through the checkout process you will receive an email from FedEx with your tracking number when your shipment is processed.
How long will it take to receive my order?
A. We make every effort possible to get your order processed and shipped in a timely fashion. Most orders are shipped within 2 business days of order placement. If an item on your order is backordered or out of stock, you will be contacted by a Sitka Gear customer service associate to discuss alternative options.
Why do I need to create an account to order online?

Why does my credit card show two charges?
A. Sometimes credit/debit card statements contain two transactions, but this is only a temporary scenario. When a purchase is made, an authorization is placed on your card to temporarily hold the funds on your account. This is not an actual charge on your card. Once the order has been shipped, this authorization becomes an approval and charges your account at that time. The authorization will drop off your account within 2-3 business days (depending on the financial institution).
Can I cancel my order?
A. We may be able to cancel your order but can only do this by telephone. Please call us at 877-SITKA-GR as soon as possible after you have placed your order. Otherwise it may be too late, as we try to process and get orders out the door as quickly as possible.
