The Duck Oven Jacket is designed as an insulation piece to be layered under one of our outerwear jackets and it is optimized for use with waders.
It’s easier to roll out of bed on a cold morning knowing you have the Duck Oven to crawl back into. Warmth begins at the body’s core, which is where this Jacket excels, using 200g/m2 PrimaLoft® Sport Insulation in the torso and shoulders and 133g/m2 Primaloft® Sport insulation in the lower arms to trap in the heat of your ribcage, shoulders and arms. Below the ribs, the low-profile, high-stretch Traverse material tucks seamlessly into your waders.
You can wear the Duck Oven as an outer layer, or as a toasty mid layer. The insulated upper portion of the Duck Oven Jacket is shielded with WINDSTOPPER® Laminate to seal out even the most persistent gusts. The high neck collar helps retain heat, while thumb loops in the cuffs keep the sleeves low across your knuckles, providing extra hand warmth when gloves just get in the way of calling. Two zippered hand pockets and a zippered chest pocket cash your essentials.
I got my Duck Oven jacket 2 seasons ago and haven't looked back. I hunt in southeast Louisiana and the weather can be very unpredictable. Early season, late season, it doesn't matter. This jacket is very versatile and pairs well with the pantanal parka and the bibs. With this combination there is no weather that will keep you out of your honey hole.
I have been waterfowl hunting for nearly 60 years now, and have witnessed the evolution of just about every different kind of outer fabric for protection from the elements--starting with uninsulated waxed cotton (called tin clothing in the Pacific Northwest), and culminating with the Duck Oven jacket. I have never worn a lighter, warmer, more comfortable jacket. It is absolutely the best for multiple weather conditions--I wore it this past year in Buffalo, NY, Portland, OR, and Quantico, VA, and it performed superbly. I absolutly love this jacket. I got it as a gift for Christmas and could not be happier. We hunt in the Mississippi delta and so far this jacket is perfect for the changing weather we hunt in. I am not a Gore tester or anything like that, I just love to hunt. I will be buying more Sitka Gear in the future. It is deffinatley woth the money.
As a Gore tester, I have had the privilege of trying several pieces of Sitka's waterfowl line; the Duck Oven is my go to gear. Here in the Central Flyway, we hunt geese in a great variety of conditions. Everything from windblown, frozen ponds to snow-covered bean fields. Having a multi-functional jacket that performs extremely well on its own or as a windproof insulation layer under a Delta Wading jacket, allows me to adapt to several different hunting situations. I highly recommend the Duck Oven jacket to anyone who hunts in multiple weather conditions within the same season.
I love this jacket! The Duck Oven is my favorite waterfowl piece from Sitka. I also own the Kelvin jacket, but the Duck Oven blows away anything else. It is insulated with Primaloft and also has Windstopper, so it is warm as heck on those January days hunting ducks on the river when everything else is frozen. I love the thumb holes, the fit is perfect for layering, and is a great complimentary piece for the Delta Wading jacket. It runs a bit big, so I would suggest ordering a size down from your regular jacket size. As a Gore product tester, I get to use all sorts of Sitka stuff. But this is definitely one of my favorite freezing weather pieces. I have no problem recommending it to everyone that asks.

A. We make every effort possible to get your order processed and shipped in a timely fashion. Most orders are shipped within 2 business days of order placement. A. Sometimes credit/debit card statements contain two transactions, but this is only a temporary scenario. When a purchase is made, an authorization is placed on your card to temporarily hold the funds on your account. This is not an actual charge on your card. Once the order has been shipped, this authorization becomes an approval and charges your account at that time. The authorization will drop off your account within 2-3 business days (depending on the financial institution).
