With a lightly brushed face to keep you stealth in the whitetail woods and a GORE-TEX® laminate, the Downpour Series is a perfect companion for quietly powering through a rain shower or heavy drizzle in your treestand.
The Downpour Jacket is built to keep you bone dry in the stand while autumn’s storms roll wet and slow over your corner of the whitetail woods. The 100% waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX® laminate is silenced beneath a lightly brushed hydrophobic face fabric. Minimally built for packability, the Downpour can live in your pack until the moment dark clouds boil over.
The articulated patterning keeps you comfortable in the seated position, with extra length in the seat to shingle water off your back. Fitted forearms reduce string contact, while well-shaped elbows and shoulders maximize range of motion through the draw cycle. The drawstring hood seals out moisture from above and moves with you to prevent the obstruction of vision, while a single zippered chest pocket keeps your necessities close.
“The first time I used the Downpour in action, I was caught in the worst rainstorm I’d ever seen. Luckily, I brought my Downpour Jacket and I stayed completely dry the whole time. The brushed outer face and full leg zips make this an absolute must for the whitetail hunting application."
- Sitka Athlete Jeff Simpson
I had the old Downpour set. I could see very little, if any difference, with the new version besides the camo. A real nice rain jacket. I do wish you would allow just a bit more layering room in it. Especially, in the lower part of the sleeves. It could use another chest pocket.
All I can say is PERFECT! Fits right, feels great, and love how quiet it is!
I'm with Ken on this review. I've never had a piece of clothing that could not be worn against the skin. One would think a $329 rain jacket could be worn with a short sleeve shirt underneath. Not this one. It will prick you until you can't take it anymore. Sitka's customer serivice had this to say about the issue: "Very sorry for the inconvenience here, but yes that rain gear was never meant to be worn right next to the skin. You will definitely want to wear at least core lightweight underneath it." "It's widely known and is very standard that when you're hunting or doing any sort of mountain sports having a proper base layer is absolutely necessary. Rain gear is meant specifically as a shell to keep you dry when it's raining, It is not designed to wear it all the time. It takes two very different product and materials to keep moisture out, like rain gear, and to wick moisture away, like base layers. I definitely apologize for the misunderstanding." I was unaware of a few things that are apparently well known facts. I did not see this info in the product details for this jacket, so thought I would make sure everyone else knew all the details.
I have to say that Sitka Customer Service is exceptional,I too had a minor set back with the Downpour Pant and Jacket , the material appeared to have been inferior to their standards which they explained can happen from time to time in production. I was sent a replacement set with no hastle within a week, The new line of Downpour is far superior and i am totally happy with the product and the service . Thanks Sitka
Only real issue is this very expensive jacket has no pit zips and only 1 chest pocket. Fit is true to size and sleeves are nice and long. Sleeves around forearms are snug/form fitting.
Greetings here in Central Finland, North Savo of thousands of lakes in the country! A great jacket for drizzling in rain than in wet woods. Remains dry and the heat is easy to control the layer dress. Finnish variable coniferous / white bellies of the birch woods downright inseparable disappears. Pockets works and your smartphone remains dry. Even when you engage in ready to Downpuor bibs shaped pants fixed suspenders, as well as a high back and a waist section, which protects the lower back. In addition, with a knife for jogging, in which a knife is suspended, the tallest pockets and leg pockets for laminated map. In addition, the hem should be equipped with tightening straps so that the snow does not rise trouser legs along the top of the shoe arm as beginning to be pants to be correct.
Camo pattern is great for blending in. The problem with the downpour jacket is that it must be worn with a long sleeve shirt. The taped seams are not meant to be worn against the skin. Your arms will fill as though they are resting against fiberglass insulation. Overall quality appears to be good, but if a person is going to spend 329.00 dollars on a rain jacket the coat should fit and feel better than any other manufactures product. In this case, Sitka dropped the ball. I hope it holds out the rain!
I'm writing this review for two reasons, first to say how happy I am with the Sitka customer service. I had a minor set back on my old Down Pour system and Sitka took care of it effortlessly. Secondly to mention that any hard core bow hunter, whether for Big Game or Whitetail, will definitely love this rain gear. It is well worth the money for the piece of mind of knowing I will stay completely dry and comfortable wearing my Down Pour rain gear.
