The Fanatic Jacket was specifically and scientifically created for whitetail hunters battling mid to late season conditions. This jacket is uniquely constructed with a diagonal zipper so a kangaroo pocket could be built into the design to keep your hands warm. Topped off with a WINDSTOPPER® laminate, you have a jacket that will keep you in the stand longer to help increase your odds.
The Fanatic Jacket is designed for when the wind wraps itself around bare trees, scrapelines appear overnight, and anything still green is dusted in snow. A silent barrier between the stiff November air and your skin, the Jacket’s every detail makes you more stealthy, more comfortable, more focused and more deadly.
We’ve shielded heat-trapping Primaloft® Sport insulation with a soft, silent GORE® WINDSTOPPER® outer fabric that helps eliminate the effects of windchill. The insulation is body mapped, with 133g/m2 Primaloft in the torso, and 60g/m2 in the sleeves to keep you warm while keeping bulk from interfering with your shooting form. The angled zipper design makes room for a kangaroo pocket that heats your hands and saves your dexterity for the moment you need it most. The articulated, removable hood is designed to seal in body heat while leaving your peripheral vision intact. Internal wrist gaskets and thumb loops keep your sleeves in place while sealing out drafts. We built in a strategically placed grunt tube slot and rangefinder pocket to give you quick access to your most critical equipment. Intelligent underlayering will keep you deadly and engaged through the end of the season.
Your buck may only make one mistake all year. The Fanatic Jacket gives you every reason to be there when he does.
“The Fanatic Jacket addresses a problem that most bowhunters face as the temperatures fall: keeping your hands warm, while still wearing a thin glove. Sitka solved this by using an innovative side zip allowing the addition of a full kangaroo pocket. Great range of motion, all the features I need, but most of all the warmth of Primaloft® keeps me in the stand. Plus, I still get amazing range of motion. The Fanatic is a must-have in the colder months and I use mine all over the midwest."
- Sitka Athlete Jeff Simpson
The Fanatic jacket was my first purchase from the Sitka line. To say I was very pleased with the jacket would be a gross understatement. I put it to the test the last day of the Minnesota Rifle Whitetail season. Morning temps dipped to -4 degrees Fahrenheit and rose to 12 degrees Fahrenheit around mid-afternoon. I was able to sit in an open tree stand from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm wearing a thermal base layer, mid-weight fleece and this jacket. My favorite feature is the Kangaroo pouch. With a hard-warmer inside, I didn't need my gloves once the entire season (other than walking to and from the stand in the morning). Thanks for a great product! My next purchase will be the Fanatic bibs!
This is the absolute best jacket ever worn. I have tried many different companies and models of jackets and this one went above and beyond my expectations. The cross zipper makes less nuisance with the zipper out of the way of your chin/mouth and allows you to keep your hands warm in the front pocket. The pockets in the jacket will not disappoint you with the extremely high quality zippers that Sitka has used on this jacket. This is an extremely well built jacket. For those wondering about sizing - I am 6 feet, 210 lbs. I wear an XL Jacket and it is the perfect size; allowing me to layer in winter and remain free moving when bow hunting in early season. For those wondering the warmth of this jacket I was a bit nervous at first considering I live in Manitoba, Canada. Weather here goes from +40 c to -40 c. I have worn this jacket in +15 when bow hunting with nothing but a t shirt under and it was a bit on the warmer side. I have worn this jacket in -40c and it is outstanding. By properly layering, this jacket eliminates any wind penetration and keeps your body heat internally to keep you warm on those tree stand days. Thank you Sitka! Will definitely purchase more of your products in the future!
This is an amazing jacket perfect for Iowa's late bow season. I can wear this hunting in 18 degree weather and still keep warm. The jacket stops all winds and it's pretty much a walking sleeping bag. Thanks a lot for making this amazing jacket, I will use this for many future hunts.
I bow hunt from opening day in mid September to the final day in early January in western Wisconsin so I know what its like to hunt extreme temperatures. The Fanatic jacket and bibs are with out a doubt the most comfortable and warm hunting clothes I have ever owned. I am sure the jacket and bibs are good down into the single digits with the right layers. This is the first digital camo that I have ever used and I will admit I was rather skeptical of it at first because it does stick out to the human eye. Last Saturday 11-8-2014 I had an unbelievable afternoon sit and had deer all around me the entire time and got spotted by several deer but after being still enough its almost like they lost sight of me while they were looking right at me. The kangaroo pouch/hand warmer is a great bonus as well. The only complaint I have is that much of the outer fabric really does attract thorns, burdock, etc. If you hunt a couple times a year this stuff may not be worth it but for guys like me and many more out there that hunt non stop from opening day till the very end I would recommend it. It may seem pricey but you certainly get what you pay for with this product. Great job Sitka!
Today was the first day of the PA Bow Season, and wow was it wild. Started the day in a down pour @ 55° and by noon, the sun was shining with temps declining to a chill 36. Oh yeah and the wind blew all day in every direction. Fortunately, i had just 3 weeks ago purchased the fanatic jacket and bibs at the Cabelas in Hamburg PA and all i can say is what a success this fanatic series is. First time ever i have never been cold or chilled while on stand. The jacket and bibs worked great in the rain keeping me dry, great in the wind, and warm in the cooler evening. Perfect combo for me even though it's a little heavy for this time of year, but when it counts it will be perfect. IMO, worth every single penny!
I haven't worn these bow hunting though and I am really looking forward to it! Recently wore this jacket up on a caribou trip up to the north slope of AK. Figured I would be able to get use out of it both up there and in the lower 48. Kept it lashed to my pack when walking and put it on when waiting. Plenty warm and kept the wind out. Plenty of pockets and the ability to incorporate a muff pocket is a genius design. Looking forward to many years of good hunting!
Bowhunters, please do yourself a favor and get on board with the Fanatic. It is simply amazing how well this jacket fits and how warm it keeps you! I wore this jacket all last season and couldn't be more happy! Sitka definitely kept the hardcore bowhunter in mind when designing this masterpiece!
I was a bit skeptical at first with the fanatic because it is not 100% water proof. Being a elk 3rd season rifle hunter in western Colorado puts me hunting in November snow covered ground and very cold temps. I must say this gear, bibs and parka performed exceptional. Although it does claim to be water proof I was in a soaking snow storm in sub temps and it never leaked and I was warm all day. I would highly recommend this gear to anyone who was skeptical like me. It's worth it's weight in gold I assure you. I'm not a tester by any means just an everyday hunter.
After extensive research on the gore optifade camo patterns I decided to give it a try. Its looks quite different than the camouflage I'm used to. After trying the pattern in the field Im convinced. Typical camo patterns seem to appear dark in a distance giving the human outline away. This is not the case with the gore optifade came patterns. They seem to blend into the surrounding areas I hunt better than the normal camoflauge on the market. The big game animals I hunt don't seem to pick me off as easily. I believe this new technology works and am very happy with the outcome. I have harvested many whitetail deer this last season including my biggest buck to date. The hunting I do is all on heavily hunted public land and under heavy pressure from other hunters. I was still able to score several mature deer. The quality of the product is top notch.
I got some info from Mike Mitten about this coat. I've been a die hard wool wearer for 20 years. But when I needed a new coat I was very much interested in the fanatic. This is absolutely the best coat I have ever worn while hunting whitetails. The pockets could not be better designed. Go back and read that last sentence again! Since I pack my outer layers in, I use the pockets on the coat to carry my gloves, hats, shooting tab, etc. This way it is always either in the coat or on my person. As far as warmth, it's really astounding to me. The warmth without the bulk is something for all hunting clothing manufacturers to strive for. This one nailed it. I always wear a wool base layer, and just one light layer is about all I have needed with this coat so far this year. This coat does NOT let any wind in. Wind is the biggest enemy to the inactive treestand hunter. Heat loss through convection will send you home. This coat eliminates that better than any other I have ever worn. You guys have really done well with this one.
Having the Fanatic jacket for 2 seasons now, I've been able to put this jacket through the ringer. I've literally owned every jacket from other manufacturers and this is the most versatile and best laid out jacket on the market. Here in southwestern PA, the temps usually range from 60° to 15° at any given point during our whitetail season. The Fanatic jacket will cover an extensive range of these temps, and when it gets to the lower end of that temperature spectrum, there is still ample room for layering with a vest or a Kelvin layer. If the thumb holes, grunt tube pocket, and rangefinder pocket aren't reason enough to buy this jacket, the hand muff pocket will make this a no-brainer. Don't question it... Just add it to your cart, you deserve it.
This past weekend while deer hunting in Wisconsin, I pushed my Fanatic Jacket to its limits. Temps were in the single digits and wind chills were below zero. Needless to say, with a proper layering system and the Fanatic series I was able to stay plenty warm. On my hike to the stand I kept the jacket in my pack and put it on before I sat for the day. The WINDSTOPPER layer did its job and kept that bone chilling wind from getting me up and moving around. The ample insulation in the jacket seemed like more than enough. Again, I had a lot of layers on. The only way I could have had less layers is if I have the Incinerator jacket. The kangaroo pouch on the front of the jacket was a life saver when my hands started to get cold. With a handwarmer in the front zip pocker made the pouch nice and toasty. As a gear tester for GORE© I have used my gear in some of the worst conditions you can think of. This past opening weekend of rifle season in Wisconsin was one of the worst I can remember. Without my Sitka gear this weekend, I wouldn't have been able to punch a tag on an 8 point buck.
I am not a product tester for anyone, so I can give fair and unbiased opinion of Sitka products. This is my third season wearing the Fanatic jacket and bibs and I can say they are the most functional outerlayers on the market today. I hunt in higher elevations mostly and the Windstopper is a huge benefit. Everything on the jacket is so well thought out for the whitetail hunter. From manys years and few thousand hours in treestands there is nothing I would change on the design of this jacket. I have two fanatic jackets along with the bibs and the fanatic vest for warmer days. These items complement numerous other Sitka items in the optifade forest patterns I own. I know Sitka may be priced higher than other brands but the quality is second to none and as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for". Sitka is hands down the best and the Fanatic series is their best!
I've been using Sikta gear since 2010 and this is my single favorite piece of gear they've come out with to date. This is my go to jacket for treestand hunting whitetails towards the end of November and throughout the late season. The first time you put on a piece of Sitka you realize the quality of the fabrics and the attention to detail. With this jacket they've used a strange looking (but highly functional) sideways zipper that allows for a big front pocket like you'd find on a hoodie. This pocket really helps to keep your hands warm when the temperatures start dropping and allows you to keep items like a cell phone or wind puffer close at hand. Another nice feature is the rangefinder pocket. It's a handy way to keep your rangefinder close and not swinging around when you draw your bow back to take the shot. One of my personal must haves is thumb loops on my clothing. This helps keeps heat from escaping while also stopping snow from getting up my sleeve and into my jacket. To me this makes the jacket feel like it's a part of me. The zippers on this jacket are quiet and the fabric is soft and cut in a way to minimize bulk so it doesn't rub against itself and make noise. If I'm in the late season whitetail woods I'm always wearing my Fanatic jacket. - Marc Alberto NYBowhunter.com GORE-TEX Hunting Tech
Whether you're looking for comfort, funcionality or durability, the fanatic has all three. As a GORE gear tester, I have access to many different hunting jackets. This is one of the best jackets I have ever worn. The PrimaLoft insulation teamed with WINDSTOPPER is perfect for spending long hours in the stand trying to bag a late season whitetail. One of my favorite features is the Kangaroo pouch pocket. I throw a couple hand warmers in there and my hands will stay warm all day. This also allows me to wear thinner gloves, which is huge bonus for bowhunters. The overall design of this jacket is awesome. I would highly recommend this jacket to any hunter who is looking to sit longer and help improve their success in the field.
This (along with Fanatic bibs) were my first Sitka products and I could not be happier. This jacket kept me comfortable in my treestand for the several days despite a stiff wind and cold temperatures. I especially like the muff pocket so I can keep my hands warm without needing to wear bulky gloves. The diagonal zipper takes some getting used to. The pockets are well thought out and provide quick access to everything I need. I am 5'11" and 180 lbs and a large fit well. As a disclaimer, I am affiliated with Gore for product testing of GORE-TEX products for the purpose of product review and recommendation.
Are you an elevated, treestand dweller? As a gear tester for GORE and a whitetail junkie, this is your cold weather solution if you are! Definitely a jacket to be packed in to your location as the PrimaLoft Insulation will keep you extremely warm well down into the teens or low 20's and partnered with WINDSTOPPER it is a windproof wall when properly layered with the rest of your gear system. A removable hood for those that are like me and don't like their ears covered while in the tree listening for grunts and hooves cutting through the brown leaves on the timber floor. A high collar to block the wind from the back of the neck and to keep the warmth from escaping your core. A diagonal zip that was designed by serious bowhunters to allow for a kangaroo pouch hand warmer which keeps your hands together and eliminates the need for gloves if you don't like to wear them as well as keeping the zipper from punching you in the bottom of your chin when cinched up tight. A grunt tube slot with a perforated bottom material to allow that condensation buildup to drain out of your call and not freeze it up as well as a perfectly placed range finder pocket with a material covered magnetic closure to eliminate noise of buttons or Velcro. High quality zips that are very quiet and have easy pull loops. Extended sleeves with thumb loops to seal off the cuffs and retain critical warmth and finally a soft brushed face on the outside which is silent so your movement, whether it is coming to full draw or spinning around to the other side of your tree because that rutting buck is chasing a hot doe and won't stand still long enough to give you that perfect shot, you will be warm and comfortable if you want to sit for a couple of hours in the morning or if you want to make it an all day sit from sunrise to dark.
