This is my second piece of Sitka gear as I bought this to wear with the Delta zip waders. I was specifically looking for a jacket with windstopper so I don't need to always wear my waterproof wading jacket every time the wind picks up. I'm 5' 10" and 180lbs (15.5/33 dress shirt) with a fairly athletic fit (broad shoulders and no beer belly). I usually wear a L in most outer layers and bought size L in this jacket. Fit is great through the shoulders, arm length could be a touch shorter but it definitely will keep my wrists covered when reaching or swinging my shotgun so a bit of extra length is OK. Belly area is a bit bigger than I would like but it will allow me to put several layers underneath comfortably. Yesterday took the dog for a walk in 20°F weather and had medium weight base layer, medium weight fleece and primaloft vest underneath and fit was not too restrictive. So as an outer layer I guess the fit makes sense. The arms do get tight on the forearm so I think long sleeve layering is limited but I prefer vests so good there. Minus one point for not having pit zips. As an outer layer they should be standard IMHO. Especially a jacket this warm with layers - need more opportunity to dump heat on the walk or paddle in and then zip up to stay warm sitting in the blind.

I do love this jacket. It is warm. It keeps wind and enough rain off of you to be a great outer layer. It is not very comfortable under a DWJ but it does work if you need it to. My only gripe would be the lack of high hand pockets that I feel should be a must on any waterfowl jacket that isn’t a base layer. You could go with the Duck Oven but it’s not as durable as the Dakota. I hunt mostly timber holes and durability matters. Still a great product and I do recommend. Just not 5 stars.

I bought this jacket as a final layer jacket mostly because of the weather we have in my area. Well I had the chance to hunt a snow storm last week, and wow this jack was amazing. Kept me warm in 18 degree weather snowing and windy. it also kept me dry.

Overall my experience with this jacket has been meh. I purchased this item in hopes to wear it underneath my delta wading jacket or as a stand alone piece. If you plan on using this as a layering piece I would recommend you instead buy just about all of their other jackets besides this one. The lack of thumb loops and the girth of the sleeve cuffs makes this awkward to layer under a delta wading jacket. Along with that if you plan on wearing this under a pair of waders the lack of chest pockets really feels like a setback for this jacket. HOWEVER, as a stand alone piece that you don’t plan on wearing under waders or bibs; this jacket does its job, it repels water and stops all wind, keeping you warm. If that’s what your looking for consider this jacket but beware if you plan on layering this you may want to take into consideration another jacket.

Bought the Dakota Jacket last year and love it. Best piece of Sitka gear I have. I primarily layout/field hunt and this jacket is great for the WI weather. I wear this early season over top of a long sleeve when its raining. Mid to late season I pair it with a Core Midweight Zip-T and the Gradient Hoody to last well into late October early November. This jacket is great against the wind, freezing rain, and snow. It is also very lightweight, comfortable, and not bulky at all.

Its a great jacket but, personally, I like the Dakota Hoody better. I have the "old style" hoody, so it fits a little tighter. The Large Jacket to me, was a little baggy in the chest/shoulders. It is very durable and you will not feel any wind at all with this thing. It is also is very water resistant. I haven't been in an outright downpour in it, but I have been in rain with it enough to know it will definitely do the trick.

I’ve never been much on bossiest as there sometimes difficult to take off in the water. When the Dakota jacket came out, I had to have it. Like a fellow guide and friend of mine once said, “the Dakota is the only camp you need, it does it all”. And he was right. It’s warm, but not to warm, free movement and VERY durable. Definitely one thing that goes hinting 60 days starting in November.

Has to be the best all around piece of gear they sell. If you have a grinder hoody get this In a jacket, if you have the grinder half zip get this in the hoody. This piece is the pinnacle of sitka waterfowl clothing. Warm, wind proof, water resistant, great warm pockets with thick fleece, huge chest pocket, athletic fit. I own a lot of gear and I love it all. If I was starting a system it would be with this piece first. I love layering a grinder hoody and Fahrenheit vest underneath. It is all the perfect cut when places together. I was wearing it in my 60* bed room for about 5 minutes before I got too hot and had to take it off. Doesn't restrict movement like usual when you have all those layers on. I can't stress enough how nice of a jacket this truly is. Buy it. It is the best piece of gear that sitka sells without a doubt.

Deceivingly warm, in a good way. This is my first piece I’ve owned from Sitka, and I was a little skeptical but Must say I’m impressed. I’ve been using this jacket deer hunting here in Georgia. Looking forward to getting it in the duck blind soon but either way this thing is lightweight, solid and super warm. It’s kept me toasty on windy mornings in the low 30’s with a base layer and vest underneath. It’s really nice to have something flexible and non restrictive that’s not super heavy and bulky. If there were a 6 star rating, it would be appropriate for this jacket!

This jacket is by far the most versatile and functional piece of gear I've ever owned. I dont do much waterfowling, but I'm an obsessive upland hunter. Its the perfect weight to take me from cool October hunts (40-50 F) to freezing December (10-30 F) walks through the fields and swamps in Wisconsin. Previously owned the hoodie, which is also awesome, but the full zip is so much more convenient and the lack of hood makes it easier to wear my e-collar remote around my neck. The only thing that would make this better is a few solid color options so I could buy another one for everyday and wearing to work!

I love this jacket! I am a huge fan of the hoody, but I always wanted it in jacket form. I immediately tested out layering a Grinder hoody, with a gradient underneath it (my go to under the DH) and it layers very well with plenty of freedom of movement. I can’t wait to test this system in the elements of Wisconsin.

If you like the Dakota Hoodie, you will like this Dakota Jacket. All the same great comfort without the Pullover & hood. I loved my Dakota hoodie but after a few hunts in layouts my shoulders get sore and the pullover is tough to put on. So happy they came out with this full zip version. I'm sure this will be my favorite Sitka piece for waterfowl hunting. As always Sitka's great comfort & quality is built in. As far as fit goes, I'm 5'9 175lbs, medium build, and I like the large git. It fits just right in the arms and I have plenty of room for layering underneath.
