We went to the drawing board to solve an age-old problem. As you quickly raise a shotgun, that motion pulls the fabric of the jacket across your shoulders to the point of restriction. Utilizing GORE-TEX stretch technology in key areas that typically inhibit movement, the Hudson solves that problem in a waterproof, breathable package. Body-mapped PrimaLoft® insulation brings plenty of warmth to the table while minimizing bulk for a further enhanced range of motion.

Why We Made This

Waterfowl hunters have been looking for a jacket that they can build a system around. One that allows freedom of movement, can be layered and provides ultimate protection from a variety of late-season conditions and weather. Our design was focused on using a GORE-TEX® 3-layer laminate face with GORE-TEX® with STRETCH technology in the shoulder and neck. Totally windproof, waterproof and breathable–plus the ability for unrestricted movement in tight spaces–makes this a lethal combination of technologies. For insulation, we chose PrimaLoft® Gold to ensure heat where it counts. The Hudson delivers maximum mobility and comfort with insulating properties for the unrelenting wet & cold experienced on a full day waterfowl hunt.

After a year the jacket is still like new! I live in Illinois about an Hour from Peoria so you know it gets cold here, this thing is extremely warm absolutely wind and water proof.....I have put this coat on taking the side by side in 34 degrees running 50mph just a T-Shirt under open doors etc and i don't feel an ounce of windy through it and I'm perfectly warm 40min later still when i get to my location. Hands down best hunting coat i have ever owned being so thin so warm wind and water proof this Hudson can NOT be beat.

Would rate higher because I love the fit design of coat. Unfortunately worst zipper design on the market. Design and durability is ok but functionality of lining up and zipping is marginal at best. Bought for duck season last year and own many Sitka products. Like most avid hunters, we don’t mind spending for quality. This zipper system needs to be redesigned.

Great quality as expected from Sitka. 5'10" at 185-190 pounds and a size large is perfect with room to layer. I have a Gradient jacket (large) to pair with this for mid-season, and a Duck Oven (large) for late season. As a matter of fact, the Gradient fits well under the Duck Oven and both will fit under the large Hudson for late goose season. Couldn't be happier with the system.

We put it to the ultimate test last year in southern Louisiana during hurricane Beta. It rained sideways on us for two days, but this jacket kept me dry as a bone. Fit is great, wide enough at the bottom to fit over waders on those rainy and snowy days on the Chesapeake, but also narrow enough to tuck inside. 46 inch chest, 38 inch waist, 18 inch biceps. The quilting inside doesn't make it bulky either. Side pockets are lined to protect the Gore-Tex, handwarmer pockets are not to high either.

I have been hunting in this jacket for at least 6 years. If it ever dies, I will buy the exact same thing. It has survived more than frozen marshes and rivers. I have taken this jacket into tree-stands and the mountains, and it has always performed exceptionally well. With proper layers, this jacket has kept me comfortable in temps ranging from -15 to 45. I purchased this jacket on the heels of a miserable day of duck hunting while I was wearing inferior equipment. That was the last time I was miserable while hunting birds. I should’ve bought it sooner. For me hunting mid/North Missouri ducks this is the most versatile jacket a duck hunter can have, and needs. Durable and waterproof with well thought out pockets, just enough insulation to still be “cool” enough to wear it early season with minimal layers, but still warm enough to still be used in single digit temps comfortably when used with the Fahrenheit jacket as well. I love the stretch panels on the shoulders that allow full movement when shooting and holy cow... the hood! Best hood I’ve ever seen on a waterfowl jacket, fits your head nicely and keeps you dry but doesn’t have too much material that is baggy and limits vision.

I've had this jacket for over a year now and I love it. It's warm enough to use here in Texas down in the 40's by itself but if you add layers under it, I've been toasty warm with only one other Sitka warm base layer and add the Hudson Bibbs to it, and you're defintely toasty warm. I run dogs in Hunt Tests and you can have all kinds of weather. I like that it's not overly insulated so that I can wear it more months of the year. If it's colder, I just layer up. I have a bunch of gear from Sitka and absolutly love the product, the quality and durability of their products. Can't recommend them enough.

I purchased the XL size and I'm 5'8" 230lbs and it fits me well. May have been able to go do a size, but I wanted the room for layers and I purchase XL for other stuff as well. Glad I did. I'd rather have the room.

I bought the Hudson jacket new this year and have to say the quality is vastly superior to any other duck coat I've owned. I was tired of getting wet in other "waterproof" jackets. So far this jacket has lived up to the hype. In 30 degrees and 15MPH wind I had the heavy weight merino base layer, gradient jacket, and the Hudson and stayed warm all day. I have yet to test out the waterproof aspect, but with Goretex I have no doubt this jacket will stay waterproof for years instead of half a season.

I'm 5'11" and 185LBS and ordered a large for layering. The jacket still fits a little large on me even when layering. The reason for the 4 stars is that the Velcro on the cuffs is very uncomfortable when they rub the backs of my hands. It appears the intent was that the rubber cuff would be the only part touching your skin, but since the sleeves are a little long on me, the velcro edges rub my hands all day long. Never expected this to be an issue when I tried this on.

Overall pleased with the coat, but might try to trade into a medium for next season. Wish I could have caught this issue when I could have swapped out the coat, but didn't have a problem until I wore it all day.

Honestly, I figured many of these features were “gimmicks” and while they would be an actual part of the jacket, I thought they wouldn’t work as well as advertised. I was delightfully wrong. This season, while attempting to fix decoys, I got tangled in the camo net of our boat and fell in the CT river and expected to be soaked. It was about 39 degrees out and I thought I was done for the day. I bought the right fit and tightened the rubber on the sleeves and was completely dry. Nothing got in my waders or in the sleeves and I was able to hunt the whole day with no problems! I’ve even swam streams to collect ducks with no problems. My one complaint is that the magnetic pockets aren’t waterproof. I guess that should be obvious. They have drains in the bottom to let water out but that will also let water in when submerged. Got my licenses and some shells soaked, but considering they are higher than where your waders end, it’s actually a great feature. Movement feels so natural, it feels like you don’t even have a jacket on! I still prefer a balaclava to the hood, but it’s the best I’ve come across. I’ll be buying the other camo with my Christmas bonus!

With a fleece jacket underneath, it was very restrictive for shouldering a shotgun. I found a local store that had both the Hudson and Wading jacket. Once I tried them both on, I discovered that the Hudson works for me in a Large because of the stretch material on the back of the shoulders. I would need an XL in the Wading jacket. I was torn on which one to get, but went with the Hudson in the end. In most cases my use will be for colder weather. I've only used the Hudson once in 30MPH North winds and raining. 5’10”, 175, for the Large. I wore a T-shirt under it no problem into the mid 30’s. Light long sleeve shirt into the 20’s without getting cold.

One thing I would change is a second inside coat pocket. Otherwise this thing is amazing.

1) Customer service: I bought this coat locally in XL, but had to return it. I'm 6'4" so really needed an XLT, but there were none to be found. I called customer service only to learn that there were none available in XLT. 10 minutes later, the same customer service rep called me back and said she found one for me, but not in her warehouse. She took the time to find a retailer, Macs Prairie Wings, that had them in stock( they had only 1). I ordered it and received the next day. THAT"S what I call customer service!

2) The jacket: It fits perfectly. I'm 6'4" and 245 lbs. Enough room for layering underneath, but not too much. The shoulders and back do not bind when shouldering your shooting in a t shirt. Temp was only in high 30's...not exactly frigid...but it proved to be completely comfortable even on the 40 minute boat ride at 4:45am. The hand warmer pockets are particularly well placed. They're in a perfect, usable location, not too high like other brands I have owned. Of course, the sealed cuffs and drawstring at the waist and hood keep all the nastiness out. I can't thin k of a thing I don't like. It's just a great jacket worth its price. I liked it so much, I have a pair of Hudson Bibs on the way.

I also noted that, unlike a couple of years ago, the professional guides down here are wearing more and more Sitka gear. Sitka gear is catching on down here.

Sitka’s quality is second-to-none. This jacket is made of great materials and should last a long time. This jacket is a great balance between warmth and weight. I wish the Hudson had zippers near the armpits to provide for occasional ventilation, but it’s still a great item. I look forward to using this jacket for years to come, and I plan to purchase some other gear in the coming months.

In the past, we needed to purchase new Jackets for our employees once per season. We are hard on our gear whether we are hunting or working, our gear is put through rigorous conditions all season long. Once we started wearing Sitka Gear, our guys stayed warm, dry, and healthy far more than when we used competitive products in the past. The old gear that barely lasted one season has now been replaced by far superior, Sitka Gear, that is taking care of us for three to four seasons while keeping us much more comfortable.

It's very cozy. If there were six stars I would pick that. I would buy another.

I’m 6’1 205 lbs. the large tall fits perfectly if you have broad shoulders and long arms. I wore it in Saskatoon for a goose hunt last week. It completely blocked the cold north wind in the early morning. The temp would get into the 30s and 40s later but I never got too warm either. Buy it, you won’t regret it!

This jacket feels amazing. I am 6' 1" and about 180lbs, and the large fits great. The sizing chart doesn't help much when trying to decide which size to get, so I tried on several sizes before purchasing. I would recommend trying on a couple different sizes before buying, but from what I can tell, since these jackets are standard fit, they run more true to size than the older model hudson jacket. Overall, the jacket is amazing. It is pretty lightweight and not very bulky. Also, shouldering your shotgun is easy, since the jacket is not constricting at all. Although it is pretty pricey, this jacket is worth every penny, and I would definitely recommend buying it.

Jacket feels great. Very impressed with the sizing considering everything I've purchased has always been too short. I am 6'3 and 215 athletically built and a X-large Tall fits great. A little long in the arms but id prefer a hair long then too short. The body-mapped insulation across the shoulders and neck feel very warm and very functional yet lighter than most other jackets on the market. Very impressed overall with the durability, feel, and flexibility of the jacket. Get on it I am sure they wont stick around long. Great job guys.

This is the finest product I have ever purchased in my life. You will not be disappointed. Dry, warm and comfortable is a great way to be while standing in the rain, snow and anything the great outdoors cooks up. I am a BIG Sitka fan and have not met its equal. If the price seems high to you, it won't after you realize the quality that you are holding. Every piece of Sitka gear I own is worth every penny it cost me.

I live in Minnesota and this turned into my goto winter jacket. I have worn it at 20 below zero and at 50 degrees above. In the rain, snow or sun it is my favorite jacket I own. Period!
