Over the past decade I have purchased dozens of pieces sitka gear for big game hunting in extreme mountain environments and never been let down. The Sitka waterfowl team carries over superior quality and design in this jacket. Been using it for the 2019 season hunting fields in northern Canada and I couldn’t be happier on the wet chilly mornings. This coat has great functional design for pockets and call keeper system along with the reinforced high-wear areas. One of the key designs of this coat that I find extremely valuable is the high collar and cut-back hood. The hood allows full vision when laying in your blind and working the birds. This coat along with the pants will allow even the most fair weather waterfowler to keep hunting on the wet and cold days. Great jacket!!

I have used the Hudson jacket the past couple seasons and still is a go to jacket, but then I added to my concealment and obsession. THE LAYOUT......this jacket was designed for the comfort of a true waterfowler. thank you Sitka for making my hunts the BEST

January 1st 2018. Miles City Montana at 0745 is -23 below outside. Wanted to put the Layout to the test. Gradient bottoms, Layout pants. Heavyweight Core Zip, Fahrenheit Jacket, and Layout Jacket. Boreal Beanie, Neck Gaitor, Delta Deek Gloves with Lacross Alphaburly Pro 1600g boots. Put audio book on, stepped outside and laid on deck with back down in 2” of snow for 1 hour 45 min. Each piece works so well, but most impressive was the Jacket and Pant. To not feel even the slightest bit of cold or temp change on my back or bottom that was against the ground was pretty unreal, especially for that long and at that temp. I can honestly say I stayed as warm for that hour and 45 min outside as I was when I first stepped outside of the house. I sometimes have to smile at what some companies claim, and “ground shield insulation” was no different. It is legit! I cannot imagine a situation or condition where this particular setup would do anything other than keep you warm. Looks to have the durability to last for years. Worth every single penny.

Nice jacket but short in the waist . When you combine with the layout bibs they barely cover the gap between the jacket and bibs. Wind comes in no problem. BURR! Probably sell my setup after the season. Wish the designers would add an inch to ALL their products in the waist length. A lot of people are wondering who they use for the measurements.

This jacket would be my favorite, if they didnt make the torso length SOOO SHORT! Being a "Layout" jacket, it should be desgined longer for field hunting. It's shorter in length than my Hudson Jacket it, which is desgined for going under waders. I am so confused why the majority of their gear is so short in the torso. I am 6'2" and have an average torso. I got the Large size and i feel like it is a belly shirt. I am sending it back right away. I guess i will just use my Hudson jacket for layout hunting.

This jacket is amazing! I wear it duck hunting here in the Dakota's and it handles any weather condition. I even wear it when I am not hunting.

Bought this coat early spring and temps finally have falling cold enough to break it out. I've worn it in the swamp with waders on and even wore it deer hunting. I know it's not ment for that but when the wind is driving and the rain is falling what better than to wear gear that's made for those conditions. It's a little snug in the elbow and shoulder region for me when wearing a hoody underneath. I'm 5'10" and 220, other than the snug fit I love this coat and recommend it to all my friends and people that ask! Keep up the good work, and keep the new stuff coming.

The Kings of St. Paul

Almost 300 miles off the coast of Alaska, a 40-square mile volcanic island void of trees and vegetation sits in the middle of the Bering Sea. St. Paul Island, the largest of the Pribilof Islands, is one of the most unforgiving places a waterfowler could hope to visit in pursuit of North America’s holy grail of duck hunting. Somateria spectabilis. The King Eider.
