This was my third elk season with the Dewpoint pants and jacket. This year it rained and snowed for 7 of 9 days and I stayed dry the whole time, even after pushing through the heavy wet brush for days. The knees finally wet through a little on the last couple days of glassing from my knees but these pants are definitely worth the money. Pay attention to where you're walking and they will serve you well!!!

Great set of rain gear. Use your noggin when you wear this gear and you'll have no issue. I've had the set for several years now and can attest to both the durability and waterproofness of the product. I have no affiliation with Gore/Sitka just appreciate good gear!

I finally got the opportunity to really field test these pants on a Selkirk Mountain elk hunt this week. It rained hard and steady for the whole day; these pants kept me dry. I wore long underwear and pants under the raingear and stayed pretty warm. The brush was THICK and soaked wet, staying dry in those conditions is nearly impossible. I'm really impressed and will absolutely be recommending the dewpoint pants/jacket. Top notch!

To fragile to be used on a sheep hunt in the N.W.T. After 7 days the seat was pretty well shredded. Wet rocks are slick and you do fall on your butt from time to time. Fortunately Sitka did replace them and I will save them for a less physical kind of hunt.

Hi Kevin - As always appreciate the feedback. It's great to hear both sides; we get a lot of comments about how surprisingly durable the Dewpoint Pants are and then there are those like your own. It truly comes down to perception and how conscious you are as the user. Your are right, they are not our most durable pant but I can tell you from my own experience they are durable. Are they designed to take 170 pounds of dynamic pressure when you fall or put your head down and push through broken timber, no. When you are pushing through that thick timber you have to recognize when a branch is jabbing you, relieve that forward pressure and step a little more left. You do have to be more conscious of your surroundings. If you were looking for a durable, bust through thick brush without hesitation Pant than we highly recommend the Stormfront Pant. http://www.sitkagear.com/products/big-game/pants/stormfront-pant

Awesome minimalist design and cut but the durability... Well it's non existent. I'm a huge sitka fan, and really want to love this pant as much As the dewpoint jacket, but the fabric just isn't durable enough for a pant. Mine have probably 18-24 holes and I've only hunted in them for about 5 days on backcountry hunts where the weather turned south. I won't be looking to buy another pair.

When I first made the decision to go with the Dewpoint pant, it was based off Sitka's reputation (and my experience with other items). I was under the impression they would be waterproof, which they certainly are, but only when you can keep them from getting holes in them. Before purchasing, I read the bottom paragraph on the Dewpoint pant page, and C. Foss says, "bushwhacking through wet willows..." I need to stress, this is not the case! I have used them for two hunts (one sheep and one mule deer) and I have had to repair them 4 times, also need to add that I wasn't hard on them. I called CS as soon as I returned from my sheep hunt this past August to express my concern about how fragile the pants are and was told that normal wear is not covered. I just want people to really think if they need to save the few ounces over a more reliable pant. I really regret spending over $400cdn on these pants and want others to understand they are a very expensive item for the less than expected durability.

A must have item. Even nice to wear on days when its not raining, yet. Excellent wind resistance which adds warmth. Nice to hike in, very little loss of mobility. Full length zippers allow good temperature regulation and access to your pants pockets. I am 6'3" 190 and have these in XL, rather than large which falls in line with the rest of the system, so try before you buy, or go one size bigger. Its your top layer so bigger is better. The sewn in belt is good on this product.

Went out on a hike the other day with the Dew Point Pants. It was really raining hard consistently, pretty much a deluge. The wind was really blowing too. I really, really wanted to like these pants. There is a major flaw with the Dew Point Pants and it is the zippered crotch fly. Even thou i set the zipper as far down as i could to get it flush with the fabric and all the teeth closed there was still a hole, gap whatever you want to call it. Needless to say, they leaked like a sieve. There is a reason most manufacture's nix a zippered crotch fly from their rain pants and this is why. Having a wet crotch and water running down your legs is no fun and is a recipe for hypothermia if the temp drops. I find it really hard to believe that Sitka did not catch this in testing. One more thing, I would add about 1/4 to a 1/2 inch length more of fabric to the leg bottom for a bit more coverage over a lower cut boot or shoe. Good points are articulation and weight. They are also quiet. But these pants are NOT WATERPROOF! So i would give them no stars if i could. You dropped the ball on this one Sitka.

The Dewpoint system is the best lightweight shell that I have found. You hardly even notice that you have them on and at 10.4oz there is no need to ever leave them home. As a Gore tester this is a must have.
