Why We Made This

Mountain hunting comes with its own unique challenges: cold temps, biting wind, rain, and snow. To tackle these varied obstacles, hunters typically have to carry many different items while trying to maintain breathability and–more importantly–stealth and traditional soft shells were too heavy and not compressible. Our goal was to develop a single garment that would be fully windproof, water-resistant, lightweight and breathable all within a quiet face fabric. In short, we designed a jacket you can wear 90% of the time.

Thoroughly impressed!

When I first received this jacket I thought "Really, this is it?"(I purchase on line without actually putting my hands on the jacket) It has now become the cornerstone of my spring and summer scouting/hunting. I can't tell you enough how impressed I am with this jacket. I spend my day in a 200grm wool long sleeve base layer. In the morning this jacket is the ultimate compliment for staying warm in the cool spring and summer mornings. If the wind kicks up you realize right away what this ultralight jacket was made for. I can spend an entire day out in the woods with said base layer and this jacket. I know they call it a mountain jacket but I would liken it to a zip up wind stopper shirt (get a size larger if you plan on using it as a jacket for multilayers underneath it). The jacket is water resistant and I have waited out a light rain/thunderstorm in it and did not get wet. It weighs almost nothing, packs as small as a t-shirt. I am impressed! This is the first season on this jacket so I didn't give it 5 stars because I don't know the durability just yet but did I say I am impressed. I am looking forward to Sept hunting in the mountains and believe this jacket a wool base layer and a jet stream vest will be everything needed as long as no heavy rain is in the forecast. I have spent several upper 40deg mornings with this jacket and just a wool base layer hiking and it's perfect for me. Sitting on stand in 50deg weather with the same setup and I am comfortable. I treat it mostly as a 2nd layer (windproof shirt) and it's been amazing at keeping the heat in while keeping the wind and cool out. Now that summer is hear I am serious contemplating the mountain vest.
