Getting within range is tough enough without the swishing and pattering noises of typical rain gear blowing your cover. The Thunderhead Pant pairs with the Thunderhead Jacket to create a system that combines an exceptionally waterproof and breathable 3-layer GORE-TEX fabric with an ultra-quiet brushed polyester knit face to keep you protected and silent. A durable water repellent finish prevents water from soaking into the soft face fabric, a brushed backer provides against-the-skin comfort and full-length side zips allow for easy on and off without removing your boots.

I just returned from a week long Moose hunt in Newfoundland, Canada. We had a some cold temps and a fair bit of rain. I used the Thunderhead jacket and pants all week. It keep me dry and warm the whole time. I did buy a size bigger then I usually wear for layers as i knew I would wear it for cold mornings not moving while glassing and went a bit heavy on the layers. It was conformable for hiking and very quiet for stalking. The pattern worked well for me but I know a few guys that would be interested in the same gear in Sitka's other patterns. I feel that this product is a great investment and well worth the price. It is hard to find quiet Gore-tex gear and this fills that gap. I would and have recommended this product to anyone that wants to stay dry and quiet. Great job Sitka on this one!
Okay -- this product review, all positive is for later -- but for now I want to point out customer service. I am headed to the Highlands of Scotland and the Thunderhead pants were not fitting properly. SITKA rushed a pair JUST in time for me to make the trip -- THANK YOU. Forever a #fan!

This product is amazing! It kept my husband bone dry in some of the worst rain weather we have experienced in years. Can't say enough great things about the Thunderhead line in general!
The real reason for this review is to talk about how INCREDIBLE the Sitka customer service team is.
We bought the whole Sitka Thunderhead set (pants, jacket, gaiters, gloves, hoodie) and spent about a thousand dollars on it for our last hunt if the season. It was a last minute purchase because the weather was supposed to be super wet. On the third day of our hunt my husband was out past dark and took a bad fall over a hidden ball of barbed wire and ripped his pants to shreds. Luckily the pants were the only thing that got seriously hurt.
When I got home we were trying to figure out how to buy another pair of the pants, I thought I would take a Hail Mary and see if Sitka could help in any way. I figured it would be an immediate no, but I was wrong. The response I got was overwhelmingly surprising. They said we are all hunters here and understand accidents happen. It doesn't fall under our warranty BUT let's see how we can help.
We will continue to buy Sitka gear for life now because the gear is amazing but the customer service is the best I have come across. They took care of us even though they had no obligation to and made customers for life. Thank you Sitka team!
I have a lot of this new line and love everything but these pants... do they keep you bone dry yes...however, if you have to throw them on over something cause weather is coming in and have to hike out you better buy a size or two bigger than you would normally would. Hiking with these pants on was like hiking with resistance bands around my thighs.. I had to buy a larger pair for my father as well and a friend of mine had the same issues with these pants too. But they will keep you dry that's for sure.

Does a great job keeping you dry with barely any noise. Only problem is they fit small so order a size up.
I bought the Thunderhead pants and jacket for a NM archery elk hunt this year. They both performed absolutely amazing and kept me 100% dry. They are a bit noisy when brushing up against trees and shrubs but this is by far the quietest rain gear I own. (much quieter than the cloudburst line) I really didn't notice the noise much as the rain noise offset it. The material is almost like a microfiber cloth with a gore-tex backer material. They are strictly a rain shell and do not have insulation. With that being said I would highly recommend them. Absolutely great product.
I was rolling from the hot central Washington into a spot deep in the cascades. There was some significant rainfall in the forecast. Last year I had picked up the jacket; which performed awesome. This year I bought the pants. I spent 9hrs in the field in light drizzle all the way up raining sheets. When I got back to my campsite I was the only one still dry. Packs up well. Performs well. A little more rubbing noise than I'd like for archery though.
Used the thunderhead pants and jacket this past turkey season in Georgia. Both kept me dry during spring showers and the super quite material allowed me to stalk up closely to the birds in the field. These pants held up well on many ground crawls. Highly recommend adding this gear to your hunting closet.
