Got this in November in the mail for my whitetail hunting in southern Texas. This is by-far my favorite go-to piece. I will be getting the black/gray for everyday winter wear. SITKA has me sold. Do note the hoody is not waterproof. I'm 5'9, 185lbs and I got the XL. It fits perfectly snug from the hood to the face covering and all the way down. Has great, deep pockets and if you wear a thermal under the hoody, it will do fine down to 20°F whilst stopping the wind.

This was my first proper piece of Sitka gear and got me absolutely hooked on this brand. Love the fit, weight, insulation and especially the subalpine camo. I got this jacket for a month long hunt in South Africa back in 2021 and wore this the entire trip! I would definitely buy this jacket again and I will continue to use it in my upcoming spring black bear hunt. Along with the rest of the traverse and apex series

This is a great jacket for staying warm!! It's probably my most used jacket I own. The downfall of this jacket is wind as it doesn't have windstopper. However paired with a shell like the downpour jacket (what I use) I've been in 10 degree weather with wind chill down to -6 and been comfy with just a t-shirt and those two jackets. For the price it's the best warm jacket you can get!

Easily one of my favorite jackets that I have. I have layered this under my jetstream jacket with temps in the teens to low 20's and was comfortable with a wool mid layer and base layer underneath. I have also worn this as a standalone with temps in the 40's and have been comfortable as well. Versatile jacket and I probably wear this more than the Jetstream Jacket, especially if it's not windy. This jacket is not for hiking around with a pack and weight on your back because this jacket will make you warm really quick if you are exerting yourself. Love everything that Sitka makes.

Bought this jacket for moose and caribou hunting. It fits snug (FYI), is extremely warm, and worked as an outer and inner layer (when it got REALLY COLD - Northern British Columbia- 2 feet of snow!!!). Light weight, flexible, quiet, and the snug fit is really key to keeping warm for active as well as still hunts. I loved this jacket and the Sitka quality and attention to detail is amazing.

Definitely warm. No doubt about it. I’m 5’6”, 160lbs and typically wear medium. This is advertised as a “Standard Fit”; however, given my experiences with Sitka gear, I would identify this as a “Performance Fit”. I have a Fanatic Lite jacket in Medium, which is a Performance Fit, and I feel like it has more room that this medium. All that said, the medium still fits, and I can layer a merino wool long sleeve shirt underneath, but it just feels more close-fitting than my Fanatic Lite.

I may try on a Large and see if it fits better, without being too big and bulky.

Solid midlayer. Thick but not too cumbersome or padded you cannot layer with it easily. I wear an XL and I am 6 2'. XXL is just too wide around the chest. Hood is snug but not too tight and comes with a face cover. Now that its almost spring this tends to be my go to outerlayer.

Great hoodie/jacket. Perfect outer layer for Northern California hunting. It doesn't get too cold here like other states or regions of the US, with other Sitka under layers its just right without the bulk. I'm 6'2 250lbs with wide shoulders and long arms, and it fit perfect in a 2XL.

There are quite a few things I love about this piece: Excellent material, weight, arm/sleeve length, and very warm for the weight and bulk. Unfortunately, it just fits me very poorly compared to other Sitka gear. It is about an inch or so too short in the torso length, and there is enough extra material, in girth, around the lower body area that the jacket could fit someone with an extra 80lbs of beer gut. Not the slim and trim fit of other Sitka products, or what is pictured in the product photos.

Love this piece. I think more of a 4.5 stars suits but I'll round up because of the versatility of this piece. While I ordered all my gear in Elevated II, I was looking at four layers... heavyweight merino top, Fanatic hoodie, Celsius midi and my Stratus jacket. While those four worked very well, it was just one layer too much for me. I bought the Cold Weather Hoodie in hopes of it replacing the Fanatic hoodie and Celsius midi in the late season and it was perfect! I love the integrated masks on all the Sitka gear I have. This hoodie is a great layering piece with the base layers and under the Stratus jacket. The hood itself is noticeably thicker than the Fanatic as is the mask, and at "Feel like 15", you are never cold. When the wind picked up, just lift the Stratus hood and you're good. The key to the entire set though is the neck gaiter. Adding the gaiter at 30 and below, I was never cold, seldom constricted. I wear glasses and a hearing aid and at times, extreme head twist to the sides would press the glasses into my ears/head due to the gaiter pulling the hood tighter. But generally I was always comfortable and found this piece to give me a TON more versatility in my layers. On days with temps at 25 or lower, I would add the Celsius midi over this and under my Stratus jacket, giving four layers and really good warmth. This jacket works great as an outer layer as well. Great fit, does its job as described and then some if you mix and match your layers by temperature.

I first bought it to wear for cool morning turkey hunts but found it works great as a layer and hood under my dakota full zip that Sitka forgot to leave the hood on but that's a different review... No it's not windproof but it's great layered under a windproof jacket .. The awkward fit of this piece is extremely frustrating. What Sitka or others refer to as an “athletic fit” feels like a belly shirt to me. This thing is WAY to short in the front. Furthermore the arms are WAY to long. If they were going to make the arms this long, you would think this hoodie would have thumb holes like some of Sitka’s other hoodies. No thumb holes means the sleeves are all bunched up around the arms. The materials and functionality of the piece are on par with Sitka superiority however, the fit is terrible. Instead of overthinking it, it would be nice if Sitka would make their gear fit like a standard piece of men’s clothing.

I wish I could buy every piece Sitka makes as I haven’t found one I dislike however I feel their patterns are great and you can mix and match based on conditions and ambush method. You know, I find the other reviews of this jacket not being an athletic fit, very interesting. I wear this jacket as a mid-layer, under my mountain jacket. It also fits over the heavy-weight hoody, as when I hunt it's around 20 degrees fahrenheit. If this jacket was any smaller, I would not be able to use it as a mid-layer. If it was any larger again... could not use as a mid layer. I honestly feel like this jacket solely kept me warm while I was sitting and not moving for hours in the mountains. I was even considering on finding something similar to be a pants mid-layer.

I guess I'm a weirdly shaped guy, I wear mediums despite being 205 pounds and 6' 1''. This jacket is perfect fitting for me, with my medium base layers, sometimes I wear the core lightweight and the heavyweight hoodies, depending on wind chill. Then over everything I wear a large mountain jacket. All feels perfect.

Honestly if the jacket is not fitting right currently, and is not "athletic enough," then size down... or maybe bulk up? I would highly recommend going to your local sporting goods store and layering all of the equipment you think you will use. If you use this right. This will become an invaluable tool to keep you warm.

Around 20-30 degrees I would recommend not to move in this jacket. Move in a heavyweight base layer and maybe a core base layer, with a Gore-Tex over top. When you get to where you are going drop the gore-tex and quickly put this jacket on to become your new mid-layer. It will do a good job of retaining the heat that is currently in your sweat, but the base-layers will retain the sweat. Then throw the Gore-Tex back on to help with wind chill. I found this was the best way to stay warm.

I might update this when it gets colder.

Very comfortable to wear as either a mid layer under a shell, or as an outer layer in temps above freezing. Two complaints would be the bottom being like a blouse, which seems to be the theme of these comments, and the chest pocket seeming like it may pill up in the future as well as in the material around the cuffs. Not something that has happened yet, but it seems like it may be an issue in the future. I’d kill for a draw string, or taper but it is amazingly comfortable and I love it.

This is the oddest sized Sitka piece I own. I have pretty much everything in the Big Game lineup that is made for layering and am large in all of it. The Traverse is too big in the body to the extent that wearing it under the same size Cloudburst the body section is all bunched up and hanging out of the bottom. It is even has room over the top of the Kelvin Lite Hoody (which does not make sense at all!) but it is supposed to be a mid insulating layer. Try before you buy!
Side note: if you have to order online like me because of availability save the plastic packaging that it comes in for a return! My wife threw the bag away for this and even with tags attached Bass Pro would not accept the return. I am stuck with trying to resell at a loss...

It is my main jacket around town and I have used it on a few late season hunts. The reason for it being 3 stars is the hood. Sitka usually has very nice fitting hoods. This hood is crap. The fit is terrible and it looks strange when up. Also, due to the built in face mask, the seams are located right against my ears which is extremely uncomfortable. The seams rub your ears every time you move your head. These facts render the hood useless for me at least. If this was fixed, it would see more field time and be a bomber 4 start jacket/hoodie. I've worn the last week or so in Denver walking into work (1 mile). the cold air cuts through the jacket and I can definitely feel the air on my hands while in in the pockets. I did wear this under a spyder shell while tubing with the kids and was comfortable, but your talking 800 dollars plus for this liner and the cold weather shell. I climbed denali in an OR system that was half that amount. This is hard to justify as a liner and really hard to justify the liner and cold weather jacket combo. This product was great. It fit perfect, it was very water resistant, kept me warm, and its very light. Perfect for any activity in some chilly weather.

Love this hoody. I got a solid color to wear around town in the fall and winter. Dwr finish repels water pretty well for short periods of time. I also wear it hunting in the blind all the time. It works great for that. For the weight it is warm

I have always had problems with jackets not fitting me in the arms. I have long arms for my height. I am 5'9 190lbs stocky build and the large fits great. it also fits nicely under my jetstream jacket when needed.

I purchased this hoody to replace a North Face shell jacket for knocking around casually. It is amazingly warm. I even used it to snow blow a few times. This hoody is so comfortable and well designed with quality and function in the forethought. I am seriously contemplating replacing an entire Scent Blocker camouflage wardrobe for Sitka Gear for hunting primarily in the North East.

This new jacket is awesome but it's missing something all of the insulation line is missing, pit zippers. If you hike into areas to hunt you need a way to vent excess heat. If the pit zippers where added this would be my favorite jacket in the line up.

This is a piece of the line up I have been waiting for!!!!! The thick dense material provides an excellent barrier. The hood is designed very well and is held in place nicely with a neck gaiter. I was hunting deer late in Idaho and I had the traverse long sleeve shirt with traverse hoody under a cold front jacket. With the gaiter bridging the gap in the neck there wasn't anything the weather could throw at me I couldn't handle.

I just got back from 3rd season elk trip in Colorado the temps ranged from 30 during the day down to 14 at night we also had snow for 3 days stayed warm the whole trip I used it with the jet stream vest to provide wind block its my favorite system

Just bought this in XL (I'm 6'4, 200) and the fit is perfect. It's snug enough to fit perfectly under my stormfront jacket, but not so much that it restricts movement. I wore this all day recently in 25-40 degree weather with only a core hoody underneath and was warm the whole time. It's my new favorite jacket. One word of caution.... I found that wind snuck in on the sides a bit. It's not as windproof as the Jetstream Jacket by any means, but it serves a different purpose for me. This will be a mid-layer for me on EVERY hunt.

Bought this to use as my insulation layer in October in Canada... Bad idea. "Cold weather hoodie" is a very generous term, because at 0 Celsius, I couldn't look through my binoculars because I was shaking so bad. It's nice for hiking around, but not much else. Save your money for something else

I was super skeptical about buying this jacket. They had this jacket in stock at my local hunting store and I tried it on and looked it over several times before I bought it. I just didn't know where it would fit into my system. But eventually I bit the bullet and bought it. I am very glad I did. This piece actually replaces 2 baselayer pieces and my Jetstream (if its not super windy) This piece is very warm, has great breathability and great stretch. The hand pockets are lined with berber fleece which is great for chilly mornings when you need keep your hands warm and ready for a shot. I absolutely love the hood and facemask on this piece. The hood is lined with fleece and fits very snug on your head which locks in a ton of warmth. The facemasks fits perfect and tucks under your chin and down the collar and that really keeps it snug on your face. The only con I have is that the sleeve length is very long compared to the torso length. This does cause some bunching up of the piece when you throw a jacket over top. But other then that this jacket is amazing and I cant wait to put some more time in the field with this piece!

Put this jacket to the test on a recent backpack trip in SW Colorado. I used the jacket for glassing and also wore it in my sleeping bag. The hoodie and face mask built into the jacket are very convenient and kept me very warm on the ridges when it was below freezing. The face mask was very handy while sleeping in the tent as it kept my face very warm, and allowed for a couple good nights of sleep. The jacket is on the heavy side compared to the down series but I considered it my "luxury" item and shed a few ounces elsewhere to make up for it. Overall it is a great piece gear that serves its purpose for layering on those long windy sits.

Just returned from a Colorado elk hunt and this jacket provided me with the warmth needed for the mid-30's mornings and evenings coupled with the Core lightweight long sleeve. It was also very comfortable turned inside out and used as a pillow at night. This jacket will make the pack list for any hunt from September thru March.

I was a little reluctant at first because of the noisy fabrics. I'm used to wearing wool. With wool products I'm always fighting the heat. This year I invested in the Sitka line. This was the most comfortable season I've ever had. Temperatures range from 70° down to 32, with two days of rain and snow. I wish that I had went ahead and purchased the rain gear. I was very impressed. Killed my Elk at 25 yards with my bow and was very close to dear. GREAT Products.
