This is the idea that launched Sitka: a lightly insulated, highly breathable soft shell built to keep you charging in 90% of mountain conditions. It’s the foundation of ‘Turning Clothing Into Gear'.
We completely reimagined the fourth generation 90% Jacket, and in the process invented a new fabric with some incredible properties. This new iteration is three times more wind resistant than its predecessor, evening out heat retention between whisper-still mornings and howling afternoons. With the improved wind resistance, insulating the entire jacket would cause overheating, especially during periods of high exertion. So we developed a body-mapped, microgrid fleece backer that puts insulation only where you need it. The channels formed by the microgrid convectively draw warm, moist air away from the body and out of the jacket – keeping you cool on redline pushes to the next ridgetop. We improved fabric stretch and gave it a more athletic cut so you get greater freedom of movement without excess material getting in your way. The seams are thermal taped for smoothness and comfort in a variety of under layer configurations. Dual hand pockets and chest pockets help keep you organized. The 90% Jacket is pliable, durable and quiet – a precisely engineered tool that, with proper layering, can take you through 90% of your season.
“True to the name, the 90% Jacket is the most consistent piece in my system. When temps get into the mid 30s, I’ll wear my 90% Jacket while hiking to keep the chill off. Because it’s so versatile, the 90% is in my pack all 170 days I spend in the field each year."
- Sitka Athlete Wes Atkinson
Need to bring back some solid colors in this jacket. Why quit making them? Jacket rules.
I switched to Sitka this past year. I used the 90% jacket and pants most of archery and through rifle 4... It was a hot archery season in Colorado. During rifle 4 I paired the 90% with Sitka's core heavyweight product. It did not matter if it was 50 or 5 degrees... I was comfortable glassing or moving... Most importantly the breathability of these products kept me from sweating. I am highly impressed.
Just returned from the late season Colorado elk season. Single digit temps at dark to mid 30's during the day. My Sitka system performed flawlessly. If you layer right you can keep plenty warm even while still hunting. Kept cool packing out my elk by removing layers. I also used my 90 % system for antelope this year, 70 degrees mid day. Great customer service also. Two of my hunting buddies have made the investment in Sitka after seeing how well it works. Keep up the good work Sitka.
I just got my new 90% jacket, I don't know where I could wear this 90% of the time. Very thin, I'm in the northern Midwest and its first of Oct. and I'll need more layers than just a long sleeve t shirt to make it through a sit.. Thought it would be warmer!
I am just starting my collection of Sitka Gear. I started my assortment with the 90% jacket and think that it is a very nice jacket that is well made and fits my athletic frame. I understand that the 90% jacket is marketed as being good for 90% of the conditions encountered, and I would agree with that with the use of the insulation layers. As a competitive predator hunter, I hunt in some pretty tough conditions ranging from bluebird days to blowing snow. I need clothes that won't slow me down but keep me hunting at peak performance. I would like to see more of the the Whitetail styled clothing in the Open Country pattern that blends so well in dormant, winter grasses. I see many Whitetail models that I would be all over if they were in the Open Country pattern! Feel free to have a sale soon. I have lots that I need to buy now that the season is rolling! Keep up the good work, Sitka!
Simply one amazing jacket! When I first received this jacket I was very skeptical, as upon expecting it, you realize that it is extremely thin! First let me tell you, I am one of those people who is always the first one cold! This will not be the case any longer. I wore this jacket in the field for the first time this past weekend over eastern Oregon. In the very early morning, temperatures were in the mid 30's with about 15mph winds(I am cold thinking about it)Simply because I wanted to see if this jacket was all the hype, I decided to wear just one very thin long sleeve under layer, While my 2 buddies I was with were shivering and complaining about the cold, I was just one happy camper! Jacket did a very amazing job and blocking out all the wind, and never was I cold once! I simply could not be more satisfied with this jacket. The hype is true. One of the best jackets money can buy hands down! Thank you Sitka!
Let me start off by saying I am not a product tester, I am new the Sitka system but my last hunt sold me on everything. The day started out warm I had the new 90% on during my hike in. We hiked a good 5 miles and started glassing. The wind picked up and the thunder started rolling. First came the hail then the rain. My buddy wanted to call it but I hit the cow call one last time and the bugles started. We hunted in rainy hail like conditions for 1 and 1/2 hours I never once pulled out my rain gear. We hiked back wet with mid 50 degree weather. I never once was cold or wet with my 90% jacket. The new 90% series is amazing and ahead of many other hunting systems on the market. It will be with me on every hunt early or late season.
When Sitka created the 90% pieces they truly hit a home run. I have worn this jacket for two years now and never once have I had a complaint. It has taken me from standing on sub zero windswept ridges during mid February shed hunting to scouting for elk in mid July's sun. I usually where a system that includes ether the core or travers base layers or combination of both. The 90% stays vary dry not only on outside but inside as well. The taped seems and DWR finish are unstoppable at keeping moister out. Also the jacket fits and wares superbly I am not the largest guy in the back country so when it comes to how a pice of gear fits I take it serious the 90% system passes the test. Wile being fully articulated the jacket is not baggy at all nor to tight this also in one of the things that make it so quiet. I would recommend the 90% Jacket and Pants to any body especially if it is your first time buying Sitka Gear and are looking for the best bang for your dollar I promise you you will find yourself waring the 90% Jacket just as much off of the mountain. The 90% pants are a must have peace of gear in my arsenal do to the fact that they can be worn with or without a base layer even in cooler temps. When it come to fit and comfort you can count on them to step up to the plate. They are vary form fitting and articulate flawlessly with no restrictions. I have found that I can cross creeks and even small streams without my rain gear I just through a little electrical tape around the bottom of my pants and they keep the water out. They are also vary snag and tare resistant this means no burs witch can be vary irritating. The polyester soft shell material face on the 90% cleans up vary easily when in the back country otherwise blood cleans off of them easily in cold water. A must have for sure!

Having just returned from a 4 day whitetail hunt I can attest to the tremendous versatility of the 90% jacket. I layered with merino wool and fleece and was comfortable while actively hunting. Although I did have to switch to a heavy down filled jacket for sitting in my blind at minus 14 C. An unfortunate stumble during the field dressing process had my lower arm covered in blood however it cleaned up super easily at the creek and then was completely erased with just warm water at camp. Snow doesn't stick, water sheds when walking through wet bush, comfortable, and durable. Pants worked well too.
I have worn the 90 percent jacket for the last two years for late fall elk hunting in Idaho. I have layered up with Sitka under gear and I can strongly recommend this outstanding product. It is perfect for late fall hunting down to 15 degrees F. Just layer with other Sitka gear and laugh at Mother Nature. One of the nice points is fit and it's burr resistant. To get the perfect fit try on several sizes and keep in mind layering. Thanks Sitka keep making the good gear.
As the Core layer is my go to base, the 90% is the go to outer. Extremely comfortable and flexible, it's weight is "just right" to fit my need for warmth and cover in the Mid-west fall temperatures. If needed, I carry the Kelvin pieces when activity subsides and I am waiting for my opportunity. For me, combining Sitka Gear Base, Insulation and the 90% jacket and pants mean the perfect fall set-up. Not complicated, excellent camo in most environments and exceptionally versatile.
As a Gore Product tester the 90% jacket was one of the first items I started using back in 2009. It is still one of my go to pieces on most of my hunts. It has held up very well and provides adequate protection from the elements when actively hunting. I have layered under the jacket and wore it in temperatures below freezing and it worked great. The claim that this jacket works 90% of the time has held true through my hunting adventures and I am sure the 90% will be with me on most hunts this fall.
