This is the idea that launched Sitka: an insulated, breathable soft shell built to keep you charging when the temperature drops on mid and late-season mountain hunts. It’s the foundation of ‘Turning Clothing Into Gear’.
We completely reimagined the fourth generation 90% Pant, and in the process invented a new fabric with some incredible properties. This new iteration is three times more wind resistant than its predecessor, evening out heat retention between whisper-still mornings and howling afternoons. The microgrid fleece backer throughout keeps your legs toasty throughout the mid and late season, while the channels formed by the microgrid structure promote airflow for a more consistent microclimate. The fabric’s increased stretch offers improved freedom of movement, reducing fatigue when you pile on the miles. Zippered hip pockets, a zippered rear pocket, and quiet-snap cargo pockets keep your necessities in place. The 90% Pant is pliable, durable and quiet – a precisely engineered tool that can take you through 90% of your mid and late season.
The pants are awesome, however one minor item. The belt loops are too small for a standard belt. I have a web belt that took me 3-4 minutes to get through the loops. Not sure why they made this so hard. One you cinch them, forget running the extra through the first loop. I give the pants a five, the belt loops a zero. I am washing them now and left the belt in them because I did not want to run it through the loops again. Please make some adjustments on the next pairs. If you pay that much, you expect more.
I had a hard time coughing up the money for these pants, but I'm glad i did. They're as comfortable as pajamas, quiet, fast-drying, light, and surprisingly rugged. I tripped on an old barbed-wire fence and was certain I'd torn them but - not even a snag.
These pants keep you warm, wick away the moisture, dry extreamly fast, and can take a beating. I didn't think much of them till I realized I had been hunting in 5 days of nothing but rain in Western Alaska and they stood up to the challenge. A win in my opinion. Did I mention they dry extreamly fast?
A must have in your wardrobe! I've owned these pants for 3 years now and have put these pants through the ringer with no failure. As apart of the GORE hunt tech team it's my responsibility to test and give my honest opinion on Sitka gear. I wear the 90 percent pants 99% of the time I'm in the mountains. Great piece to layer with, breathable, and very comfortable. From freezing temps to 90 degree days these pants will not let you down.
I was concerned about how warm these pants were when I first got them, seeing how thin they were made me think they were more of a 50%-75% pant. But I was wrong, these pants are unreal! Pairing these with the merino and traverse layers I was in temps down to about 15 degrees with the wind blowing 20mph+. They are also extremely durable. I live in Michigan and anyone who has hunted here knows that youll be lucky to get 2 years out of a pair of pants. I have walked through some nasty stuff with these and you can't even tell they have ever been out in the field. The 90% pant went above and beyond my expectations. My go to pants in any situation.
First off, the pants are great. Comfortable, and soo far, rugged. My complaint is with the fit. I wear a size 34x36 in just about every pair of jeans out there. I had to upsize to a 36T with any Sitka Pant because the seat and upper thigh. I got them buttoned, but the fit was what I can only imagine a pair of skinny jeans would fit like. The seat and upper thigh were waaaay too tight. If you work out on a squat rack, and are a little bigger in that area, you may want to consider upsizing.
These are my all around hunting pants. Great for a variety of situations.
Great pants. I love them. A must have
Great pants. I love them. A must have.
had a small spill and the side packet ripped out.tore a big hole in the seat not sure when or how it happened.8 total days of hunting and they were done.other then that they were nice
These pants are perfect (jacket too)! I'm a huge believer in comfort and maneuverability in the field. My field mantra is "light and tight". You look good, you feel good...you feel good, you hunt good. I expect a good ergonomic/athletic fit to all my hunt kits and the 90% series is just that. Excess material simply slows me down. Rather it's climbing a tree or stalking, I want to feel as agile as possible. The 90% series is the kit that gives me that. My hunt base is Missouri/Kansas so this is a great mid-late season whitetail kit for me. When temps drop in the 35-40 deg range, I throw a kelvin vest over the top. Again, "Light and Tight", but keeps me warm and mobile. I'll wear 90% kit as much as weather conditions will allow. A must kit for every hunter...should of named it 100%
I absolutely love this pant and all of the gear Sitka has to offer. Sitka gear is the best period. My friend and I both have a lot of your gear. We do a lot of elk and deer hunting and shed hunt in the off season. Your gear allows me to stay out longer and hike farther. I will be a Sitka gear fan for life now. Thanks.
The 90% pants are one of the most comfortable pants I have. I can wear them up to November with the right layers. Picking up another pair for a BC hunt in September.
I wore this recently calling coyotes for three days straight . . . lots of walking. Temps were from 22 to 75 degrees. These pants were perfect. I never felt too hot or cold. The number one thing I loved was the cut. I'm tall and have a long stride and these pants were the most comfortable EVER.
The 90% pants are a must have peace of gear in my arsenal do to the fact that they can be worn with or without a base layer even in cooler temps. When it come to fit and comfort you can count on them to step up to the plate. They are vary form fitting and articulate flawlessly with no restrictions. I have found that I can cross creeks and even small streams without my rain gear I just through a little electrical tape around the bottom of my pants and they keep the water out. They are also vary snag and tare resistant this means no burs witch can be vary irritating. The polyester soft shell material face on the 90% cleans up vary easily when in the back country otherwise blood cleans off of them easily in cold water. A must have for sure!
Comparable to a motorcyclist cool weather pant, the 90% is the go to outer when the temperature is unpredictable. Extremely comfortable and flexible, it's weight is "just right" to fit my need for warmth and cover in the Mid-west fall temperatures. If needed, I carry Sitka Gear insulating pieces for when activity subsides and I am waiting for my opportunity. For me, combining Sitka Gear Base, Insulation and the 90% jacket and pants mean the perfect fall set-up. Not complicated, excellent camo in most environments and exceptionally versatile.
