We reached out to our Ambassadors to get media recommendations and see what they’ve been up to during this time. As you’ll find out, their tastes and preferences vary. We hope this list adds to your quiver of entertainment.
TV SHOWS | I really enjoy tv shows that keep me on the edge of my seat. HBO is the king of these action / thrillers. Game of Thrones, True Detective and The Outsider rank high on my list of binge-worthy shows.
BOOKS | Personal and professional development books are my go to. Right now I’m reading about a book a week and depending on who I’m talking to, my book recommendation will vary. "Extreme Ownership" by Jocko Willink and "Leif Babin The E-Myth Revisited" by Michael Gerber, then lastly "GRIT" by Angela Duckworth
PODCASTS | If it’s elk season, Elk Talk with Corey Jacobsen and Randy Newberg. Aside from that, my all-time favorite podcast is the MFCEO Project. It’s real, it’s raw and will no doubt provide you with a wealth of knowledge regarding personal and professional development. ***Forewarning, this podcast is not kid friendly.
MUSIC | My playlists can swing from Slipknot to ‘Peaceful Piano’ and this changes daily. But according to Spotify, Grateful Dead is at the top of my listening charts.
SPARE TIME ACTIVITIES | Spending the extra quality time with my wife lately has truly been a blessing. We’ve been able to do literally everything together - dog training, exercising, house-keeping, binge-watching, fishing...I’m enjoying every minute of it.
SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS | As a photographer, I get my personal and professional education from books, podcasts and Youtube. I treat Instagram as a way to keep in touch with friends and to get a good laugh - @barstoolsports, @oldrowofficial, @failarmy are a few that get me rolling.
TV SHOWS | Game of Thrones. It has the wildest story line and is arguably the greatest TV viewing experience of all time!
BOOKS | "Born to Run" by Christoper McDougall and "How Not to Die" by Michael Greger MD. Both books give great insight into the power of the human body, especially when unaltered by medicine and supplements.
PODCASTS | This American Life
MUSIC | The Knocks, Odesza, Queen
SPARE TIME ACTIVITIES | Shed hunting and camper life in my Four Wheel Pop-up Camper
SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS | @chefeduardogarcia. He’s a great friend of mine, fellow lover of wild places and the most inspirational person I’ve ever met.
TV SHOWS | Is it even social-distancing if you haven’t binged watched the Tiger King?
BOOKS | "Lonesome Dove"
PODCASTS | Joe Rogan Experience
MUSIC | Little Greensky BlueGrass Whiskey Myers 90’s Country throwbacks
SPARE TIME ACTIVITIES | Computer work in the early mornings with a good cup of coffee and a hike in the afternoon.
SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS | @Yeti is killing the IG Stories right now!
@taluscreative TV SHOW | I don't watch TV much. BUT I was hooked on Narcos for a bit.
BOOKS | "Green Hills of Africa" by Ernest Hemingway
PODCASTS | The Joe Rogan Experience
MUSIC | Been going old school lately. Particularly Notorious B.I.G.
SPARE TIME ACTIVITIES | Catching up on editing work and getting myself centered for this fall. Always trying to figure out how to better myself and my work.
SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS | @jeffjohnson_beyondandback - He's not in the hunting space but he does some epic adventures around the world and he’s an extremely talented photographer.
@marsh.smitty TV SHOWS | My wife and I have been binge watching The Last Kingdom on Netflix and we’re loving it so far. I’m a sucker for season-long sports documentaries as well so I’ve been watching All or Nothing: Manchester City and Sunderland Til I Die and can’t get enough.
BOOKS | Picking a favorite is tough but I’m currently reading "Fearless: The Undaunted Courage and Ultimate Sacrifice of Navy SEAL Team SIX Operator Adam Brown" by Eric Blehm and I can’t put it down. If I had to pick another, I’d go with "Tribe" by Sebastian Junger. Love that book!
PODCASTS | JRE, Jocko Podcast, Mike Drop with Mike Ritland, and the Bill Simmons Podcast are my go-to’s. I also listen to a ton of Florida State football podcasts being born into the family fandom down south. Go Noles!
MUSIC | I love alt-country or whatever you want to call it. Everyone from Brent Cobb, Sturgill Simpson, and Cody Jinks to Brandi Carlile, Arlo McKinley, Tyler Childers, Jason Isbell, Ashley Mcbryde, Parker McCollum, and Zach Bryan. Southern Rock is in my blood so Whiskey Myers and Blackberry Smoke are always in rotation. I also listen to a lot of hip hop, with Big KRIT, Mac Miller, MGK, Outkast, J Cole, and Kid Cudi being a few of my favorites. If I’m trying to get fired up, Turnstile or Rival Sons are the bands and when I’m working or relaxing, Mandolin Orange is the move.
SPARE TIME ACTIVITIES | I’m a simple man. If I have free time, I’m typically playing guitar or listening to music, working out, snowboarding, hunting or enjoying the outdoors, or hanging with family and friends.
SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS | @jonbellion - He’s one of the most talented creators of music I’ve ever seen. A visionary if you will who doesn’t post often but when he does, it’s special. @ejackshreds and @travisrice are two snowboarders who inspire me and post gnarly stuff on a regular basis. I'm always on the lookout for @davidgoggins and @jockowillink content for every day motivation and @garyclarkjr, @johnmayer, and @codysimpson who shred on guitar on IG like there's no tomorrow.
@craigfrancisphoto TV SHOWS | I’m a bit of a nerd when it comes to shows, I’ll admit. I love to binge-watch and lose myself in the plot of multi-season dramas. If I had to pick a single, all-time favorite show, Peaky Blinders is tough to beat. The character development is incredible and the use of modern tracks throughout key scenes is very creative. 10/10, would recommend.
BOOKS | Again, hard to pick just one book, however I recently read "Atomic Habits" by James Clear. I’d recommend that book to anyone who has a pulse.
PODCASTS | I listen to a handful of shows regularly but if I was to recommend a single podcast episode it would be Joe Rogan Experience #1309 with Naval Ravikant. That guy is absolutely fascinating.
MUSIC | Now that I am working from home given the adjustments for COVID-19 I’ve been listening to a lot of live show recordings to feel like I am anywhere but working in my guest bedroom. Dave Matthews at Luther College and NEEDTOBREATHE Live from the Woods are two favorites.
SPARE TIME ACTIVITIES | About the only thing I have consistently done throughout my life is hunt. So right now, I’m studying maps for fall elk and deer seasons. This is my first fall as a Montana resident – which as far as I can tell, is like getting upgraded to the super plush diamond status seat at the front of the plane in comparison to being most other places.
SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS | @__nitch (that is 2 consecutive underscore marks) The account takes old photographs of historical figures and artists and shares them with quotes from those people. My camera roll is full of screen grabs from their stories.
