Better to have and not need…
The Delta Wading Jacket is an absolute necessity. Like every piece of Sitka gear, its functionality is magical. How does a shell keep you warm with minimal layering? How does it continuously remain water and wind proof when you beat the crap out of it? I don’t need these questions answered to know its value. It’s always in my pack. I hunted the deep freeze and winter storm in Arkansas last week (2024). Between the Delta Wading Jacket and the Duck oven, sub zero windchill was irrelevant. I bough an XL for ample room to layer underneath. I could’ve probably went with my normal size of a L. Regardless, this jacket will always be with me regardless of conditions. Better to have and not need, than need and not have.

New Pro Versoin Not So Much an Old Pro
The new design for 2023/2024 is not better. The waterproof/windproof qualities remain, and the overall length is perfect for wearing over waders; however, the new design is worse for overall wear in the elements and doesn't seem to deserve the label of "Pro": 1. The hood is less adjustable than previous versions, opting instead for a smaller hood that is cut back on the sides. As a result, it now allows my mid-layer hoods to get wet in a cross wind. 2. Pit zips have been removed on this version. As a result, heat and vapor from the walk in gather in the coat and it feels less breathable. 3. The "high chest" pockets feel lower with a wider entry than previous versions. As a result, my forearms are not angled up when my hands are in the pockets, which allows rain and water to drain into the pockets. This eliminates the value of a "high chest" pocket, and something my older version wader jackets didn't experience. 4. Although the lower shell pockets have large flaps to prevent rain from entering, they also have magnet keepers to hold them open. The new design drastically reduced the size of the weep holes at the bottom of the shell pocket. As a result, I now get puddles in the bottom of my shell pockets. Incidentally, I really noticed this when I dipped the pockets into the water when wading deep water and filled them full of pond water. The tiny little pea holes got plugged and didn't allow the pockets to drain. Overall, the Pro version doesn't seem like it's been tested by the Pros. If you're contemplating an upgrade, perhaps wait until the designers reevaluate some of their recent decisions.

Great Top Layer
If you are looking for one layer that will do it all for you all season this is the one. I have warn this jacket in 70 degree weather all the way down to 24 degree weather this years in wind and rain. Not once was a hot or cold. With it being just a rain jacket it allows you to wear a shirt or layer jackets underneath. This product was designed very well even down to the jacket pockets which has magnets to keep them open when ur digging around to grab shells or calls or your phone. The chest pockets are waterproof and fit ur phone easily. The rubber on the sleeve cuffs allow you to create a seal with your wrists so you can submerge your hand underwater without getting your arm wet. I love this product.

Ultra water proof and works excellent in keeping you dry. Not good alone in cold but with a puffer jacket underneath and layers for warm this jacket will keep everything under it dry.

Keeps you dry but not warm
Layered head to toe in Sitka gear it’s awesome stuff and I get this is a shell layer. But would be nice to have some warmth layering In the high hand pockets. 0-20 degree whether you need another option then this for a spray wind blocker your hands will freeze. Won’t soak through at all no matter how hard it rains is the true best thing about this jacket, but in the cold cold nah

Best waterfowl jacket
i bought this jacket 3 seasons ago and it has been the perfect jacket from early season to late season. never had any issues. i’ve beat on it for the last 2 seasons since i’ve really picked up waterfowl hunting and i have no complaints.

If you can only buy one...
Over the years, I have owned multiple jackets for multiple outdoor pursuits. I hunt deer and waterfowl, but most of the time I'm standing in a river with a fly rod in my hand. I have finally found the one jacket for all of my needs, in the Delta Wading Jacket. Yes, it is an exceptional waterfowl piece but it also has a home on a Steelhead river when the weather turns. Which, on a Steelhead river, be it in the Pac Northwest or the Great Lakes, can be often and ugly. Last had mine in the Highlands of Scotland, chasing Brown trout in a downpour. Stayed bone-dry!

Versatile Jacket
Ofc it's cut short, not too short though I'd day it's just about right. This jacket is so light and so thin, it amazes how I put it on for a few minutes with just a t-shirt and I can feel warm. I haven't tested it much but the textiles I'd say are elite. Quality is there for sure. For a very versatile,any season starter I'd say this is a great buy. Besides the price tag ofc. The quality is just unmatched. I haven't tried the watertight cuffs, I have tiny wrists so I'd like to see how that goes. I'm 6'1 skinny build and got a large. Fits great. Thanks Sitka.

Best Outer Shell for Waterfowl
Love this jacket at any point of the season. Lightweight and waterproof, serves great during wet days of the early season over Core Merino base layers OR during late season snow and freezing rain over a Duck Oven. Makes life so much easier.

Delta wading jacket
Yikes! This jacket went up 100.00 from when I purchased in 2018 from Sitka. Bad thing is my 2019 season for ducks was a complete disaster! No ducks for 15 shoots through Christmas into January . No more feed in nw wa state. Not much water but I only hunted public. It was terrible. I’ve hunted for 56 yrs and never experienced a season like that fired 0 shots that season so I moved the heck out of far nw wa. I retired in ‘19 due to health and living in Wyoming I’m still wearing in town lol and fo dream of holding my first duck with my Sitka rain jacket in. High n dry💪 I’m sorry I can’t give Sitka a better performance review from huntin hard!

I needed a waterproof, windproof
I needed a waterproof, windproof jacket with a little room to layer underneath it. I'm a bigger guy and prefer looser fitting clothing. This jacket does what it says it can do. Waterfowl season can get warm here in northern Colorado. There is no real insulation to this jacket, so you'll feel the cold w/o any insulating layers. It's a touch loud in freezing weather. That's a byproduct of its waterproofing, windproofing ability. Which is amazing. A definite recommendation to obtain if your looking for a waterproof, windproof jacket with a little layering room.

Layer Up in the Winter
I spotted a fishing guide wearing this jacket while fly fishing one January day here in Colorado. When I asked him, he said he loved it. That was good enough for me. Fishing at below freezing temperatures, I wear multiple layers of clothes. On the coldest days this wading jacket holds in heat. I also need big pockets to hold gloves, knit hats, hand warmers, etc. This jacket is perfect.

Beyond pleased
