I initially bought this vest for an elk hunt out west, but have also worn whitetail hunting in Iowa. Overall, it is a pretty good product, as it does a great job holding in your body heat and packing down to almost nothing when you’re not using it. The only downside to it I see is that it is a bit noisy. This was not an issue when we were hunting in Idaho, as the wind was always blowing and covered the noise. But, on dead calm days whitetail hunting in Iowa I do not wear it... especially when it is cold, because the cold air really makes it crackle. If the wind is blowing 10 mph (or more) it won’t be an issue. But, definitely don’t wear this bow hunting on dead calm days, as you’ll scare away whatever you’re hunting when you draw your bow back.
Received the kelvin lite vest early this fall.. It has already traveled to Alaska on a moose/bear hunt and performed flawlessly... Then up in the mountains on my elk hunt here in Colorado where I live.. And finally I drew an Iowa bow tag and the vest went with me to Iowa. It packs so nicely you can keep it in your pack when you don't need it. But then bust it out for an instant warm layer for your core..
I definitely recommend.
This is a must have piece. I use it for stand hunting and when I am packing. it provides the perfect amount of warmth, (almost too much) with out the bulk of the full jacket. I wear XL in everything, and I can fit this piece perfect under my jet stream jacket which is the perfect combination. Add the core heavy weight if you need extra layering when you are in single digits and you'll are good to go.
