This is truly a very solid pair of rain pants. A definite must have for anyone planning on being out in nasty weather for extended periods of time. I have put these pants to the test from Prince of Wales Island to Kodiak Island Alaska and many places in-between and they have out-performed anything else I have worn in the field to date. The full length side zippers are great for quickly donning the pants on/off without removing any gear you’re already wearing, including boots. This is a major plus when it’s been raining on/off for several days and everything around you is soaked. The side zippers are also crucial in venting off excess heat from over exertion or when there is a break in the wet weather. The suspenders are a must and effectively keep the pants around your waist where they belong. The anti-slip backing on the inside waist of the pants and backs of the suspenders really help at keeping a shirt tucked in and suspenders in-place over your shoulders. The suspenders are also designed to have such a light foot print that you don’t even know you’re wearing them yet they’re tough enough to handle quite a bit of abuse. The many pockets are well placed and can hold quite a lot of gear. I would have to agree with other reviews on the belt being somewhat annoying due to it being sewn into the pants. Seems like standard belt loops and a regular belt would have worked well here. Ounce counters beware, these are not the lightest pants out there but in my opinion are well worth the added weight when it comes to durability and staying dry. I have tried the competitions version of light yet tough and they failed miserably. I would warn that the material is loud when walking and moving through underbrush and branches so it may not be the best choice for hunts that require complete silence. Sitka has addressed this issue with their Whitetail line of rain gear. The Gore-Tex material is tough as nails and the taped seams are put together very well. Sitka has put a lot of attention to detail in these pants which is what one would expect for a top of the line piece of equipment such as this. I would definitely recommend this piece of rain gear for any serious outdoor person who wants to stay dry in extreme wet conditions.

Living in Kodiak we get to spend some time in our rain gear and the Stormfront Pant keeps us warm and dry even when subjected to consecutive days of wind and rain. Pros: Warm and Dry, Excellent Fit, Tough enough to handle Alders, Salmon Berry bushes, Devils Club, and late night fleshing chores over your knee. Thank you Sitka for the Cargo Pockets and their little zippered friends. I use them both everyday. The cinch on the lower leg does well when matched with the stormfront gaiter making stream crossings a breeze. Full length leg zippers make dumping heat a cinch. Cons: The nylon belt is sewed in the rear to prevent it from sliding out, but this causes the buckle to be way off center when tightened. I'm sure this would vary depending on the person, but that's how it works for me and is slightly annoying. They are not the lightest rain pant in the line, but the added extras/conveniences added are worth it IMO. Overall an excellent addition to anyones system if you enjoy staying warm and dry when subjected to multiple days of wind and rain.

Let me begin with the question everyone asks. Are the Storefront pants and jacket worth it? Absolutely. I am an upland hunter, which is not a Sitka category, but hey, we have to stay warm and dry just like the big game guys. There are three things that should be mentioned. First, the pants and jacket are 100% waterproof. They will keep you dry in rain or snow. Second, they will keep you warm when used with a layering system (I prefer wool). I am talking about extreme conditions of cold and wind. Their wind breaking properties are phenomenal. Third, they are tougher than anyone would have any right to expect. It's rain gear not chaps. Nevertheless, I have worn them in thick brush with no problems. Last fall I took my dog into really thick stuff to find a buddy's downed pheasant. I would have had no reasonable complaint if the pants ripped. But they came through without a scratch. Well worth the money, and Sitka you have a world of upland hunters to market to.

First off I would like to compliment Sitka's customer service. I received these as a gift, but in the wrong size. I sent in the pants and got the right size back in no time! Aside from that, I can say from experience that these are the real deal. Used them on a seven day elk hunt in Idaho where I practically lived in rain gear. Wore these pants every day, rain, snow, or shine. My buddy had the same pants, and we both agreed they were an amazing piece of equipment. I also love these pants for coyote hunting, they keep you dry stand after stand. You won't regret purchasing these.

I love Sitka, and I realize nothing is invincible; but after a couple days on a Dall hunt in AK, inhad several tears in my seat and an inseam rip in my crotch. I plan on returning to sitka in hopes of getting a new pair. I may try the downpour pant for archery hunts anyway.

I can honestly say I own every Open Country piece there is. The Stormfront finished my system. This is the one set that I should have purchased first. Although it's a waterproof barrier, it keeps you very warm over other layers. This stuff is bombproof as well. When it's raining or laying in a snow bank for hours, nothing beats the Stormfront. Just spent the week coyote hunting and used this set as an outer layer. Days laying in the snow and I was dry and warm all day. This is a must have piece if you do kind of activities where warm and keeping dry is a must. The best there is.

Just finished up with a rifle elk hunt in Montana. Throughout the hunt I used Sitka's Fanatic Jacket, Stratus Bibs, Stormfront Jscket and Pants, along with the Timberline pants. I would give four stars to all of the above listed gear. Sitting on s ledge at 9500 ft, with a 40mph wind, rain, snow, and sleet, the fanatic jacket worked awesome with the Stormfront over it. I wore the Timberline pant, with a set a thermals underneath for the hike in, and packed in my status bibs and Stormfront pants for when I got to the elevation I would be hunting at. Sitka is NOT cheap gear, but if you want to be confident that you have the best gear made, it is worth it.

Let me start off by saying that Sitkas customer service is second to none. Shane and Corey from customer service really helped me out. I had bought the cloudburst pants, I really liked them, they moved with you, super comfortable and even room for layering. Except mine had a bad crotch zipper causing a small leak. Shane overnighted my pants directly to him so he can take a look at them and within two days I recieved the stormfront pants. And these things are the baddest rain pants I've ever owned. I can't think of ever having rain gear like this. You can just tell how durable they are as soon as you put your hands on them. I can't wait to try them out in a few weeks out west. I'm sure they will go beyond my expectations. If you're looking for rain gear just do yourself a favor and buy the stormfront, you will not regret it. Thanks again Sitka for the great service and for continuing to make the best gear on the planet!!!!

These are a great set of gear. Very durable, very waterproof. I've used these in snow storms, rain storms, beating through thick, wet bush, howling winds, you name it. I am happy with the weight, considering the protection afforded, definitely worth packing deep into the backcountry where staying dry can make or break a trip. I have many pieces of Sitka Gear, so I am confident in my sizing, but the Stormfront pants could use a little work on fit. The large pants are a little on the baggy side for my liking, even when layered.

Great rain gear! Took them on a November mountain goat hunt and they kept me nice and dry. Only down fall is they don't seem to be very durable . My hunt was spent with the majority of the time in snow but still came home with a small cut in them , for the price of these I would have hoped that I would have gotten more then one two day trip out of them before I had to patch them .

These pants are very abrasion resistant, waterproof and breath well. However, they are EXTREMELY loud!! If you are looking to harvest an animal from far they will work. However, if you intend to stalk close (50 to 75 yards or closer) to an animal, it will not be possible in these pants (unless it is very windy or raining hard). They are simply too loud. For the cost and effort put into designing these pants for hunting, I did not think they would be so loud. I'm very dissatisfied with these pants!

The Stormfront pants jacket made my recent trip the Yukon very enjoyable and completely dry! It is by far the best rain gear I have ever owned and I have tried several. Great job Sitka Team.

I wore these pants hunting mountain goats in the Skeena Region of British Columbia Canada. I loved them in August and early September. However there's only so much alders, stinging nettle and devil's club you can walk through before getting wet. I had bought them in July and by mid September I was getting wet in them. I managed to rip them on one outing where I took a tumble off a granite ledge. I however did tape them up and seal them and continued to use them come November. I think I'll have to try the Timberline pants come this September when I fly in to the Spatsizi region of British Columbia for cariboo. This may seem like a negative review, but I put them to the test last season. I know there's other gear out there that wouldn't have lasted as long as these pants did in the area I was in.

I was finally able to put these pants to the test this year during the late season Oregon coastal elk hunt. Monsoon rains the first few days were no match for these pants nor were the miles of brushed out elk trails. The only issue that I noted was the noise. Not a concern for the modern rifle hunter, but would be a factor to consider for a spot and stalk bow hunter.

I wore these pants for the first time on a Colorado Elk hunt in September when we were hit with a cold front containing heavy rain, sleet, and blowing wind. These pants were perfect and I was baffled they were so quiet while stalking. They were extremely breathable which is mandatory for high country hunts. Well thought out pockets make reaching for rangefinder and flashlight easy. I stayed dry and happy while other hunters in our group called it a miserable day of hunting.

The 2013 model Stormfront Pants are outstanding and not just for hunting in exteme weather. I have them in camo for hunting and solid for mountaineering. The fabric is the best yet in this line and I like how they have combined full length leg zips with very function thigh cargo pockets. Well done Sitka Gear. Wade Nelson HardcoreOutdoor.com
