Dakota WS Hat

Waterfowl : Marsh
(2 Reviews)

The Dakota Hat is made for the obsessed waterfowler seeking head warmth and wind protection but not at the cost of hearing descending ducks and geese. We created a minimal, flexible bill to shield the face from precipitation while still allowing great vision and mapped GORE® WINDSTOPPER® everywhere except the ears for optimal hearing. The sculpted and secure fit wraps around the entire head and won’t rotate in the layout blind when birds are descending from all directions.

not the most attractive look but function is more important when your hunting. fits well, comfortable, and moderately warm. I prefer not wearing a hood and this hat bridges the gap and allows me to get away without having my hood up but still staying warm. also much quieter and I can hear wings or quacks much better than wearing a hood.

I've had a chance to hunt a few different conditions with this hat and love it! Down to 13 deg a few days and this with the Sitka neck gaiter (also a fantastic piece of gear) and stayed comfy all day, altho I'll be ordering the boreal beanie for below 25 deg in the future. While they say "water resistant", I hunted for 4 hrs in a steady, moderate rain and stayed dry as a bone plus my specks stayed raindrop free, which is why I was looking for this style of hat. The minimal visor also hides my glasses during those flyovers, something that always made me self conscious of my lenses spooking them. Also love the way it fits. Seems like it has one way it goes on and that's what it locks into. Even with the gaiter worn over top of the ear flaps, the hat stayed right in place when turning my head. Great job Sitka!
