Love this hoody. Perfect for early season or layering as the season goes on. The extra high zipper makes for a great facemask. Love it!

YOU. MUST. BUY. THIS. PIECE. This has quickly become my favorite piece. It works well as a quick jacket to throw on for chores and even better as your first insulating layer. Can wear it early season with a vest, and then really stack the layers when it gets cold. The HWH really moves moisture well.

The Core Heavyweight Hoody was my mid-layer for elk season this year. It utilizes a mid to heavyweight grid fleece. The grid fleece fabric does a wonderful job of moving moisture and drying quickly. It's also a substantial enough weight it provides decent warmth as well. The deep chest zipper does a great job of letting you regulate temperature. If I stopped to glass the Hvywt would come out of my pack and get layered over my lwt Core top and under my windshirt. The hood was utilized a bunch- almost all of my layers have hoods (including my base layer), such a small weight penalty for something that is so useful! If it was really cold, the Hvywt would be used on the move. It's nice to have thumb loops when using multiple layers that are going on and coming off. This is a very versatile garment- nice for static conditions in cool weather, nice for on the move in cold conditions. A+

Truly an exceptional product. Like others mention, it comes on almost every hunt (waterfowl, upland, big game, etc.) I go on, and is usually in my drift boat/raft as well for fishing/floating chores. I will echo what the other great reviews say, works as a solo layer on cool early hunts, and is a necessity for late season hunts under my Delta jacket and/or Farhenheit pieces as the temps drop. I am very glad with the darker color in the hood now, the white lining on earlier versions forced me to return the garment. The polygiene technology works fairly well for odor elimination, but on long trips away from laundry I usually start my clothing system with a merino t-shirt or zip t underneath this piece to keep the stink down. Overall, this is a walk off home run in the bottom of the 9th for Sitka!

I wear my core heavyweight hoody constantly. I've wore it from the deer stand, elk hunting, waterfowl hunting, and I even wore it on the cooler mornings turkey hunting this spring. The hood is awesome. Couldn't ask for a better base layer to wear. Sitka definitely hit a home run.

I wore this for 6 days straight on a Idaho deer hunt in October. all I wore was a base layer this shirt and a Jetstream light vest and stayed warm all day. the hood is an awesome feature for those colder days when you glassing. I hightly recommend this product that is looking for a lightweight layer that isn't too warm

One product from Sitka that I will NEVER leave the house without. This hoody was with me on every waterfowl hunt this year..from early season to late..and never once failed me. I wore it during early teal in 50 degree weather up until now in 10 degree weather. It works as a great base layer underneath any of Sitka's gear. I prefer it underneath my Dakota Vest on cool, windy days and also use it underneath my Pantanal Parka on frigid, freezing days. I love how Sitka changed the hood to be a darker color instead of white. Hood fits snug around your head and will turn with you when you swing/turn instead of blocking your field of view. I highly recommend this for any Waterfowler needing a nice base layer.

After wearing for nearly a whole season now I am sold that this is the best "next to the skin" layer I've use. I use this piece on every hunt whether it be under my dakota vest on warmer days (30 degrees and up) or under my Pantanal Parka (on cooler days under 30 degrees.) Either way, I wont leave into the field without it. Well place pocket in the chest area allows for easy storage and the thumb loops on the sleeves are great when putting on other jackets over the top to keep the sleeves from rolling up. One thing I really like is how they changed the color of the inside of the hood from white to a darker, grey color. Hood fits snug around your head and offers maximum comfort without restricting your field of view. Moisture wicking fleece backer is great for keeping sweat off your skin as well...allowing you to stay dry, comfortable, and warm!

As with the Core Heavy Weight Bottoms, this is a base layer of extreme warmth. The functionality is amazing and layers very well. As I stated in my bottom review, this is a great layer for me at 25 and below for active and 30 and below for static hunts. Minimal layer is the key when opting for the heavy weight unless you like 'well done'. Can't say it enough, Sitka has the market cornered on hunting gear. It is the best!

Yep! ill take it. I have been on the search for finding some "Thermals" as they say, for a long long time. These are it. I wore these for 6 days straight on my Northern Arizona elk Hunt. The odor Control is a Definite. Kept me Warm/Dry. Sitka.....Only the best. Look no further for your Base layers/Next to skin gear. I dont ever write reviews, but this time....I had to. Thanks SITKA!

THE 2015 HUNTING SEASON STARTED WITH A CANADIAN WATERFOWL HUNT IN SEPTEMBER, FOLLOWED BY ELK AND MULE DEER HUNTS IN COLORADO AND NEW MEXICO IN OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER. THE CORE HOODY WAS WORN EVERY DAY AS A BASE LAYER, AND SOME DAYS ALONE AS TEMPERATURES INCREASED. I HAVE NEVER USED A MORE FUNCTIONAL BASE LAYER. THE POLYGIENE ODOR CONTROL DID A PERFECT JOB, WITH NO ODOR AFTER 5-6 DAYS OF USE. THE FRONT ZIP POCKET IS JUST RIGHT FOR SUN AND READING GLASSES. THE HOOD GIVES YOU THAT LITTLE BIT OF EXTRA PROTECTION IN THE WIND, OR WHEN THE TEMPERATURE DROPS IN THE EARLY MORNING OR EVENING. THE LONGER BACK SHIRT TAIL KEEPS THE GARMENT TUCKED IN WHERE IT SHOULD BE. IN ALL, THIS IS A PART OF YOUR CLOTHING SYSTEM THAT WILL BE USED ALMOST EVERY DAY AS THE WEATHER COOLS. VERY NICE!!!!!

Used the Core Heavyweight Hoody in Pyrite on two mountain goat hunts on Kodiak Island this fall with excellent results. First, I'm 6'2" 185lbs and the large fit amazing. You can't really see it in the pic but the tail is a little longer than the front. Hood is very form fitting and the angled zipper was well thought out. The zippered front pocket kept my camera handy at all times. I wore this over a lightweight merino wool base layer almost all day everyday. Only putting on a puffy jacket when sitting for longer stints. I can't recommend this piece enough. Please keep the non- camo colors coming Sitka.

I have yet to get this new design of the Core Hoody into the field but wanted to do a review before season starts and will do one after putting it in the elements as well. Fits very well and true to size. Appears that it will be an ideal base layer for all weather hunts. Can see myself layering with a dakota vest over the top early in the year as well as using late in the year under my Sitka jackets. More reviews to come later in the season.
