There are certain wild places that you just can't shake, that keep you dreaming of the next trip the moment you've left.

The Mackenzie Mountains of the Northwest Territories are one of those places for SITKA ambassador Adam Foss, his brother Cam, and longtime friend Andrew Walker. This trip began with one of those dreams, to experience the place in a new way, one that most people never see.

A raft float of nearly 80 miles through Dall sheep country let the hunt unfold at the pace of the river. Somewhere along the way, though, it became about more than sheep. It turned into a trip of wild country, good people, and soaking in every moment spent in a beloved place.
