We designed the Ambient Jacket to be durable, packable, and most of all, adaptable to changing weather conditions and levels of activity. Utilizing low-bulk PrimaLoft® Evolve active insulation, this jacket delivers plenty of warmth when you’re still, breathes well and manages moisture when you’re moving and dries quickly if it gets wet. Ideal under a shell during cold weather hunts, on its own during brisk spring and fall evenings in camp, or tossed into your pack for summertime backpacking trips into the high country, there’s never a time when you don’t need this.

Why We Made This

Our goal was to create a layer that worked harder and performed smarter. The answer was in partnering with PrimaLoft® Evolve for the most active insulation on the market. Active insulation’s biggest benefit is its ability to adapt—it traps heat while you’re sitting, and breathes more efficiently than static insulation while you’re on the move. The Ambient jacket or hoody will increase the performance of your clothing system for any pursuit functioning as a mid or outer layer depending on the need.

Excellent jacket. Extremely versatile. I got the solid brown and can wear either in the field or to the office. Very comfortable and fits well. I run hot so I find this to be a great layer that breathes well.

Probably the most warm and comfortable jacket i've ever owned. Great to wear as a mid-layer. Only concern is the durability, If you brush up against a briar you are going to have some tears.

I purchased the XLT. Fit is like a custom jacket. My wife hates when I wear camo out to dinner so I got it for evenings out and she loves it and in turn I love it!

Love this piece. Has become my new go to layer in my setup. Works well as an outer layer in the dry, and great mid layer insulation under a shell. Only downside is durability. The face material is abraded and piling on the chest where my bino harness sits.

Very warm, lightweight and extremely packable. I used my ambient jacket under my fanatic hoody at 32° one morning this season. I was darn glad I had it. Like putting on a down coat only better.

Great jacket for early season outer or late season mid layer. It’s warm but light. The mud color is a good color.

Got this to replace the Midi. Super happy with the warmth and function of the jacket but it needs several upgrades. Needs a harness port for whitetail hunters, needs thumbholes as the sleeves aren’t tapered for layering so they do bunch up, and most importantly it is not durable at all. After 2 sits in the stand the shoulders are already showing major wear just from wearing my pack to and from the stand. I’m worried my harness is just going to cause even more signs of wear.

I paired this jacket with the new Traverse bibs and was Easly able to be in 32-degree temps here in Maine and be very comfortable. The ambient jacket will always be with me as a base layer or outer layer.

Sitting in my treestand bowhunting wearing this jacket and a Sitka short sleeve tee underneath. I'm in Michigan's Upper Peninsula where it can chill off quick. I really like this jacket. It's SUPER light and warm. Plenty quiet enough for up close bowhunting. I'll be buying another for my son. Awesome Sitka, we expect the best from you.

I decided to put my new ambient jacket to the test on a duck hunt this morning. Don’t know how cold it was, but there was ice in the coves. While putting out decoys I stepped off a ledge buried in the silt and immediately went from waste deep water to almost neck deep. I thought my hunt was over as I sloshed inside my waders back to shore (by the way, never wade without a wading belt, may have saved me today) and worried how disappointed my 9yo would be. To my surprise, I never got cold. I was wringing water out of the sleeves the whole rest of the hunt and stayed completely comfortable the whole time. I don’t know how durable it will be in the long run, but it’s deceptively warm for its weight and bulk, and maybe the most comfy jacket I own. I’d give it ten stars if I could. Great purchase.

Super warm and very breathable! However, I have only wore it a few times as an outer layer and it has several snags in it already. With a durability rating of 4 stars you think it would last more then a couple weeks. It’s an excellent mid layer to keep you warm but would not recommend as an outer layer.

I got the ambient jacket in subalpine for early spring 2023 turkey hunts. I have a coyote problem so in early October I sat on a stool that backed up to an overgrown bank overlooking a heavily used trail. It was 34 degrees and wore the ascent pants, lightweight crew, heavy weight hoody and the jacket. I was very comfortable. Did not see any coyotes but a bobcat walked past me at 10 feet, stopped, looked at me and then walked on up the trail. Unbelievable. The ambient jacket is quiet, warm and very comfortable. I am 5'10", weigh 165 and the large fits me great and allows for layering. Very nice product.

Love the jacket but please add XXL Tall. Would love the extra length in the sleeves.

Conditions: Approximately 34 degrees, foggy and damp, duck hunting in the wetlands of interior Alaska. I wore the Ambient Jacket as my outer layer and the Core Lightweight Hoody as my base layer. I stayed comfortable and dry while sitting in the duck blind for several hours. I also spent 2-3 hours paddling a canoe without sweating out. The Ambient Jacket performed exceptionally well during active and static activities. In my opinion this jacket is well worth the money spent. It's difficult to place a price on comfort and performance while in the field. Great job, Sitka!

Finally, a medium fits like it should! I have the Celsius midi in a medium and it fits good, but was restrictive in the shoulder with a thick base layer. The fit of the ambient jacket allows more room with any base layer underneath. I ordered my true size without having to size up.

First of all, it's wicked light and packable. The fit is amazing, I decided to go with the XL tall cause im 5-9 230 and have really broad shoulders. That little bit of extra room was perfect. Cannot wait to use this on my Moose hunt this year in Maine. One last thing, It's wicked quiet as well.

I have put on a lot of Sitka out of the box, but this may be the best piece of gear I have ever put on. The fit is perfect, the material inside has to be the most comfortable I've felt in the Sitka line. The material is silent for all things outdoors and hunting. Sitka hit all marks on this one!

The Ambient jacket is a perfect light and mid layer. It keeps you warm but also isn't too much bulk to get in the way and you can quickly make sure you don't overheat too. Jacket works great!

This jacket was a life saver when setting goose decoys and hiking through the duck slough. It allowed me to regulate the heat I was creating and provided loft under a waterproof shell like the Delta or Hudson. It was my go-to insulation on every hunt this fall. So light I almost didn't notice it, and kept me comfortable when the birds were flying.

Maximum breathability for the hike in and setting decoys, it's super quiet for big game and packs down to almost nothing.

The Ambient allowed me to comfortably set the stage for each hunt without forcing me to slow down to prevent sweating out. When the work was done, I didn’t need to immediately layer up to stay warm. It’s surprisingly thin and light given the warmth it provides, which makes it the perfect layering piece as the hunt goes on.
