Ascent Shoe Review

The only issue I have with these shoes so far is the pinching at the base of my small toe when kneeling down. As the tip of the shoe folds at the toes, the shoe crimps, at the toe causing discomfort.

These are legit!

The Sitka Ascent GORE-TEX shoes are an incredible piece of hunting gear. They’re lightweight and comfortable like a trail runner, but still provide the stability and support I want when navigating rough, uneven terrain. The GORE-TEX keeps my feet dry when the weather turns bad, and the traction is outstanding on slick rocks, mud, and steep terrain. I really like the locked-down fit and cushioned ride, especially on long scouting trips and early-season hunts. They’re light, nimble, and built to handle whatever the terrain throws at you. Definitely one of the best hunting shoes on the market.

Shoes were extremely noisy, I wanted to like them but I couldn't wear them during hunting seasons as it sounded like I was walking in flip flops, hopefully they quiet down if they get worn in more.

Comfortable shoes and fit well for the first day

The back of the shoe is designed very poorly and the heel collapsed quickly. I make sure to unlace when putting my shoes on and not just slide into them but the heel collapsed and they’re unwearable now. Consider a redesign on the back. Will switch back to my Keens

Strange fitting & uncomfortable

I ended up purchasing a size larger. I’m usually a 10 but after returning my 10.5’s the 11’s fit. I have a slightly high arch and instep in my right foot and that foot gets painful if I’m not standing. Standing the cushy soles allow room. I would have ordered the 12’s but they were already a little big at eleven. The service during the return was great. These shoes are awesome design just unfortunately uncomfortable. Whoever approved the design for these should be fired.

A Little Rough

Not very comfortable (65 miles on them so far) the advertised roomy foot box seems small. The material inside is quite abrasive, luckily for me I have pretty tough feet. Having used several brands of trail runner/hiking shoes, these are the least comfortable out of the box. The inside of the shoe just seems unfinished. Not very water proof (which is shocking for a Gore product) hiked in wet grass off and on for about 4 hours, my feet got wet. I was also wearing gaiters to prevent wicking. This happened twice. The grip is great, no complaints on the outsole. And the external materials seem pretty durable.

Nice shoes but like the clothing you have to go large. However, in this case they don’t make man’s shoes (wide. ) other than being a little tight I like them.

Really durable and just like most waterproof shoes they do fit snug-like, so not going to be your most soft and comfortable shoe. After breaking them in should be fine.

The Ultimate Early Season Shoe

I have been wearing these for my early season hunts here in wisconsin. Rain, wind, swamp crossing, hiking through some of the thickest brush imaginable and they’ve held up great. Super comfortable, lightweight, and breathable. I would recommend these shoes to anybody.

As per usual with Sitka, these are awesome! I love the fit. There definitely is a "break in" period, but it isn't long. I work 12 hour shifts and was concerned after wearing them for the first couple of days. After the first week though, they are amazing! The waterproofing is incredibly useful for my profession. I love these shoes!!

Heavier than Expected

I bought the Goretex version for the dewy wet mornings which leave regular low cut shoes wet. My only other choice was to wear my bigger, heavier boots. These fit nicely and should fill a niche. But the 13.5 oz. each is noticeable on the foot.

Very well made and waterproof. True to size - works great in the dirt. Definitely worth the price.

I wear size 10 shoe

I wear size 10 shoe in everything however this one is soooooo tight and narrow it's crazy. Customer Service told me to size up to 10.5- now that one is longer and just a hair wider. Barely can get my shoe into it. Clearly a design problem here and not admitting it. Please listen to your customers.

Nice looking shoe but the shoe fits very tight has pressure on the area across the toes. I’m going to return it. that’s the problem with buying something online.

Great support for active movement

Have not been a runner for years and don't think i will go back to it. But i love hiking and shoes that support that. Very happy and new colors are fun.

So far so good! Hard to find a waterproof hunting "shoe" that doesn't weigh 5lbs. Very comfortable no complaints.

They were a little too

They were a little too narrow for my feet and can often become uncomfortable after only wearing for a short while. On the other hand they do look great and have superb support underneath the foot.

The GORE-TEX can make them

The GORE-TEX can make them feel pretty tight in the width at first, but after a short break-in period they become pretty comfortable. I used them in New Mexico during pronghorn season this year and really liked them while hunting. Unfortunately, one of the bottom pieces of the shoe has already came off. For the price, I expected better durability than that after only one hunting trip. Overall, they are comfortable but the durability keeps me from giving them a higher rating.

Great Hunting Shoe

I recently used these on a deer hunt in the California hills north of Lake Berryessa. When climbing up a steep hill I felt that I had great support. The shoe itself feels very soild. If you're thinking about getting this shoe to look cool in, I would get something else. I will say it isn't a comftorable shoe on first fit, but after doing a trail run in them, they broke in pretty well. These also did well on my trail run. I'm super stoked I went with this purchase and I'm looking forward to using them more on my less intense mountain hunts and trail runs. I definetly would not consider these your typical going around town shoe. It can definitely do that, but it performs and feels better when you use it for it's intended purpose.

Great early season gear.

Bought these for early season hunt. They were light enough to make a 3/4 mile walk into the blind. The GORE-TEX was great for the shallow creek I had to cross. Way more comfortable than boots for early season.

Great shoes with exceptional traction. The are true to the size. The opening in the shoe seems snug when you put it on. I hope that as I break them in that will change a little. Can’t wait to really put them to the test. I haven’t worn them a lot but are nice enough I wore them to church.

not sure what designers do in the day time

Well let me just say I love everything about the shoe except the one thing that made me give it a one star rather than a 4 or 5 is the tongue of the shoe there is no movement at the top and it is stitched so tight that its a struggle to just get your foot in it's like trying to put your shoe on already tied . very disappointed!!

I really like how terrible they are, but what impressed me the most is the weight is so light but has durable strength on rocks and grip on the souls.

Love the Ascent GOTE-TEX

I work in wet conditions and in the field all day every day training retrievers and upland gun dogs. Love these shoes. Like them so much I ordered a second pair just a few days after receiving the first pair. Fit was perfect. A great shoe. Love that the rubber on toe overlaps as that is normally the first place that shoes wear out for me.
