Breathable and comfortable

This is an awesome shirt! I’ve worn them on several walks in the mid-80’s and although I was sweating a lot, the shirt wicked away the moisture and kept me comfortable. I like this better than the FL Wick series. Fit is kind of loose, but I prefer it for my intended use in hot weather. I’d size down (personally) if I wanted to wear it in cold weather as a base layer.

Great merino base layer.

This is a must have for any hunt, its ultra light dries stupid fast and fits awesome. I love the hood and chest pocket along with long t-zip which allows me to dump heat on tuff hikes etc. also the face mask is pretty great. The only feature I dislike is the super long sleeves which have a thumbhole built in, the sleeves get bunched up and I never use the thumb holes.

This is an excellent and essential piece of technical gear. As an under garment it’s just the right first layer. As you take layers off it works as a great single layer outerwear piece. Excellent multi-day wear when you’re in the field for longer periods of time. It can be worn all seasons.

Great for early morning and late evening hunts in Hawaii. Not as lightweight as the Core Lightweight hoody, but it provides a bit more warmth and is very comfortable/quiet. It fits true to size. I will buying more!

Core Merino 120 Hoody

Comfortable wearing, warm not hot, used mainly at night as I sleep in a cold house, the hood keeps my bald head from losing too much heat. I have several of them, also useful as a light outer layer on cool, not cold days.

Ultra light, Super Awesome!

I have found the Core Merino 120 Hoody a fantastic addition to the gear cache. It adds great warmth, wicks moisture efficiently, and is packed with features that make it a staple when I am headed to drier climates. I highly recommend this piece for multi-purpose layering or a stand alone in warm, calm conditions.

Runners developed on 2 different 120 hoodies soon after purchase

Really liked this multi purpose product. Runners quickly developed on both hoodies. Probably wore them 6-7 times each, wash on gentle and hang dry. I called and went through the normal repair process which was pretty easy only to hear from an outsourced CS repair company that this was normal wear and tear and they would not honor any warranty or repair. Now, I have almost 1 of everything Sitka and I know this isn’t normal wear and tear. If normal wear and tear is 6 uses then I’m out as will be others.

Versatile

Haven’t had he opportunity yet to use it on a hunt but performs well on trail runs and ski touring. No odor, relatively quick drying, and durable with abrasion from moving with a pack.

My go to piece

I live in these during Michigan Waterfowl season. Hood pulled over ball cap keeps me hidden, and wind and sun off my ears. Ears used to chap and crack from wind and cold. No longer an issue.

Used the hoody with a duck oven jacket during a deer hunt in 28 degree temps and performed perfectly! Highly recommend both products! Both were XL and I am 6’4” and 240lbs

think I get more usage out of all the hoodies I purchase from Sitka then anything. always happy ordering at least one size bigger to allow laying and wearing a cotton tee shirt underneath

Great base layer

I use this piece pretty much all season and into the ice fishing months. It is lightweight and wicks away sweat better than any other piece. The hood fits snug to the side of your face so your view is unobstructed. The face mask is nice, however if you don’t like it you can always cut it out.

Hunt comfort

I have several Sitka pieces. My stratus bib and jacket are the main pieces for white tail deer here in Georgia. The other pieces of clothing I wear are the fanatic hoodie which is a favorite of mine for next of skin layering. I am a fan of wool so I am trying the core wool hoodie this year. I am 5’. 8” 175lbs. I ordered the large size and it fits well. Maybe a little tight and I think that is purposeful. I would not be able to layer any garment under this but can definitely layer on top of it. The feel of the fabric is awesome. It is cool when things get a little warmer and adds a good layer of warmth when the temperature starts to drop.

Never hunt again without a Merino base layer

The Merino base layer is an essential layer on every hunt; hot early season to the last week of the season in bitter cold and ice breaking. The 1st base layer is crucial to all day comfort and keeps me dry when working up a sweat. I bought the Core Merino Hoody because I was afraid I would wear out by older Sitka Merino base layer.

Money piece of gear

This shirt got tested at 13k hunting deer and sheep for 15 days in Colorado. I then used it for whitetail mountian bucks and it didn't disappoint. The hood and face mask are clutch for keeping you concealed when your close to game and blocking the sun rays at 13k. It does a good job wicking moisture and drying.

The perfect next to skin piece

Definitely my favorite base layer, I use it all year round from fishing in the summer to hot summer hots on to the coldest late season hunts. It’s super lightweight but durable, wicks moisture extremely well and keeps you cool when you need it to but also surprisingly warm as a base layer.

Great layer

This is the first piece of base layer from Sitka that I own. I think it’s a great piece and the only flaw I see with it is that the arms seem to be a little longer than they need to be. Perhaps Sitka did that for a reason but I don’t know for sure. The length of the sleeves isn’t a problem and it works great for a lot of conditions.

Excellent early season hoody

Bought this for a lightweight, warm September elk muzzleloader hunt. I can't find a complaint about this piece. Some people noted the thumb holes on the sleeves vs the loops of typical Sitka gear. I have both in various tops and I feel the "emo" thumb holes are sturdier and don't fall apart like the thumb loops. Runs a tad big but I dig it.
