Why We Made This

Finding a shell that could meet the technical needs of a full season of waterfowl hunting was damn-near impossible. So, we set out to create one. We utilized a 3-layer GORE-TEX® Pro laminate for its added durability to withstand abrasion in unforgiving environments. The GORE-TEX® PRO plus a DWR finish make this a 100% waterproof jacket. The jacket is cut intentionally short to wear with waders in high water conditions, and water-sealing cuffs with a velcro gasket seal out water and precipitation. It’s a fully-loaded technical jacket, so we included pit zips for dumping heat, reinforced forearms to resist abrasion, a 3-way adjustable hood designed to stay in place without hindering peripheral vision and a standing collar that zips to seal out frigid winds. An integrated call-keeper system and bellowed lay-flat front shell pockets with ultra-quiet magnetic closures round out this beast of an all-season waterfowl shell.

I feel like for waterproof layers, they are the type of gear that we just chuck in a bag hoping to not use that day...but when you start feeling drops, you want to know that the layer stuffed in your bag is a good one. That's how I look at it when making a's easy to scrutinize gear and prices from a dry living room but If you want to stay in the hunt...that $32.00 layer...won't last.

This is the first Sitka item I ever purchased and I absolutely love it. The Sitka ideology of layering for versatility to accommodate different situations while in the outdoors is greatly represented by this product. Being able to use this jacket in the bone-chilling cold of late December goose hunts in Wisconsin or in the early teal season in Florida. The Delta Wading Jacket allows for perfect layering with any combination of the lightweight LS or hoody, grinder 1/4 zip, gradient hoody, duck oven/Dakota/gradient jacket. Having the built in duck call holders is really swell and are at the perfect length. The sealable cuffs is also great when handling decoys or hoisting a very wet/icy canoe onto a car's roof rack. The sleeve length is perfect for myself even though I usually wear a tall size to accommodate the length. I am 6'3" and 220 lbs. with an athletic build and the Large fits perfectly.

Some notes of potential improvement would be to incorporate the Gore-Tex stretch technology like the Hudson jacket and also to open the elbow to wrist taper by 1" in diameter would be swell to accommodate more layering.

Them being uninsulated though is nice because you can wear them during early season where temps, like this year, were warm (about 75 degrees). I found them to keep you warm enough to about 50 degrees, after that I would start layering.

Great jacket, waterproof! Just received mine in the mail, and took it out next day on a hunt. Overall great product, however there isn't a grip patch on the shoulder. If you pack a shotgun with a sling, or a blind bag its constantly slipping off your shoulder. Also the hand warmer pockets on the jacket could use some warmer material, thicker fleece or something. The fleece in them now is really thin.

You can read all of the fantastic reviews about this puppy, and they should convince you to buy it. This jacket truly is of superior quality, and I doubt you will be disappointed about buying it. For that reason, I'll only tell you the things that could take tweaking but are by no means a deal killer. I'm just splitting hairs, and hopefully, this can be useful as suggestions for Sitka.

The handwarmer pockets are just OK. They are fleece-lined on the side that touches the back of your hand, but it's only a light fleece lining that I do wish were a bit thicker for some added warmth (or Primaloft would be so sick for the chest pockets, and potentially useful to help keep calls from freezing).

The bottom two pockets have magnets and Velcro, which seems redundant, as the magnets work well enough to keep the pockets closed.

I wish the hood had the option to be removable because sometimes it gets in the way. Additionally, the inside of the hood is grey which isn't a problem when I'm wearing the hood, but when I'm not, it would be nice to have the pattern matching (this probably doesn't matter all that much but hey if I'm going for concealment I may as well go all out).

Someone else mentioned it, but it would be helpful for the call lanyards to be able to universally attach to all Sitka gear or be standalone in some fashion. Sometimes in the early season, it's real steamy, and I only want to wear my base layer, so being able to swap my calls over seamlessly would be awesome.

Lastly, and this is the ultimate of splitting hairs, but larger zipper pulls would be helpful. Sometimes my zipper freezes closed, and I need a better grip to unzip and free myself, but I've got gloves on because it's 5 degrees outside and I really have to relieve myself but I can't because the zipper pull is tiny and I can't get a sufficient grip!

You need this jacket. If this is the ONLY piece of Sitka's waterfowl line you can get, do it. I wear this on every hunt from teal season to late conservation season. The pockets are well thought out and work well for their purposes. I can fit a box of shells in each lower pocket. There is zero insulation, so you will want to layer up later in the season. I've found that the Delta paired with a thermal hoodie, and a merino wool skin layer gets me through 99% of my hunts. I have hunted in marshes, snow, rain, and sleet, and have never had a drop of water come through it, this is the best waterproof shell you will find.

This was my first piece of Sitka gear (received as a gift), and it has quickly become my favorite piece of hunting equipment that I own. Running duck hunting trips in the marshes of southeast Louisiana, the most important thing is to stay dry. If you can stay dry, you can stay warm. From rough boat rides across open water with lots of spray, to driving rain storms during frontal passages, and to labs shaking after every duck retrieve, staying dry isn't easy. For the first time in my 40+ years of duck hunting, this jacket makes it possible. Worn over a pair of waders, the only thing that gets wet now are my hands and my face. You won't believe how good this jacket works.

I like good gear and I prefer if each piece of clothing serves multiple purposes. I bought the Delta for duck, all season grouse and pheasant, and even fishing in crappy weather. It does well at all, and I have been in enough all day downpours to know it can be counted on to keep you dry. The fabric seems stout enough I'm not worried about ripping it on every little twig. It's light enough to carry in a daypack on all day bird hunts. Improvements? I realize that the longer the coat, the more likely the bottom will get wet while wading. But I wish the jacket was about an inch longer as I'd rather have the slight extra coverage. (or, make a coat version of this!). Get rid of the velcro on the shell pockets, the magnets work well enough and the velcro makes a one-handed opening harder.

by far one of the best purchases i have made. This thing kept me warm and dry from sitting in the rain for two hours yesterday. Love all the pockets just need to make sure you dry your hands off before you stick them in the pockets up near your chest otherwise that will hold moisture. Great fit and when it gets warm i open the pit zips to dump hear. My only complaint that i hope sitka can take back is that if you take the jacket off for whatever reason it would be nice if they sold a lanyard that i can hook the calls too when i wear some of my early season pieces such as the light/heavy weight core hoodies or duck oven jacket. Another idea would be to start incorporating the lanyard loops in all jackets and vests as well making your call lanyard more usable. If you're looking at this product, you know what you are after. Lightweight, waterproof, durable, multi-functional. This product is it. Being a wading jacket, yes, it is a little shorter than other Sitka gear i.e. the Hudson. Stand in the rain in the marsh, no problem. Early season layout with a storm rolling in and all your buddies run for cover, you're good. Off chance your wife left her umbrella in the car and she needs to run from the front door to her car, now she knows why hunters buy this stuff and her hair isn't going to get wet with that amazing hood. Game. Set. Match. Sitka isn't a brand, it's a way of life!

This product is a must for the waterfowl hunter. Durable, lightweight, warm, and dry. There is really not much more you can ask for. The price is steep but for good quality gear in sticky situations, you cant put a price on it. The pockets are easily accessible and very convenient. Jacket is very warm. I would normally only have to wear a base layer and grinder hoody on the coldest days of the season. Great construction overall and I have yet to be disappointed by any features of this piece.

This jacket is not going to keep you very warm, it is not an insulation piece, but it will keep you dry and cut the wind. I hunt a lot of big water with high winds, and this is perfect to go over my waders and other insulation pieces i have under the waders. The gaskets on the sleeves work perfect w my sitka pantanal gloves to stop water from creeping up as im dunking my hands setting and collecting dekes. It also doesn't get wet and soggy when its wet, which it will get wet often if wearing outside the waders.

Fantastic jacket! This is the kind of kit that Arcteryx would make if they made camo for hunting. Similar quality and functionality. My only knock on the jacket is the length could be a tad longer in the torso.

Buy a size larger than your normal jacket to facilitate layering. It’s a shell, so BYO insulation.

Last knocks are on the system. Get a ski mask in this pattern so I can call, without having to move a mask (I have the marsh pattern).

Please make this in kid sizes so my daughters (9 and 6) can be as well hidden as me. Marsh pattern is too bright in my part of KS.

Good job otherwise Sitka, good job

Most versatile piece of equipment I own! I can wear this jacket with a T-shirt in warm weather for perfect concealment, with a sweatshirt in spring or fall weather, or with a pile of layers underneath when it’s “what are we doing out here” cold. The pockets inside and out this jacket are large enough to actually use, and the larger sizing makes access to base layer jackets easy even when wearing gloves. I”m 5’10” and 165 lbs. A Large fits well over layers and fits over the top of bulky neoprene waders — genius. Finally, the pit zips work exactly the way you’d hope, making this a well-designed and versatile top layer for every condition.

Not kidding, buy the delta first and just layer from there. I have used the delta for 2 seasons, every day of the season. I hunt in California, from days around 80in October to days with wind in the 20s in December. It’s the only outer jacket I’ve ever owned I haven’t wanted to rip off the second I get in the blind or start moving around in the dekes. The gold standard in my opinion. Great job Sitka.

Great product. I am 6'2", 200# and bought and XL. I also bought the gradient jacket in XL also and wore them both together in several hunts this year in freezing temps. I was sweating walking in and out and was just toasty sitting in ice. The size is a little big, but with the core layer beneath it was a perfect fit. It is definitely waterproof and the cuffs on the sleeves keep water out. The front pockets are also big enough to get a couple of boxes of shells in and most other essentials. The handwarmer pockets are OK. There is not a thick layer of fleece in them. This was probably the only thing about the jacket that could have been labeled a little better. The elbows also have abrasion resistant material that just add to the feel of a very sturdy jacket. I would definitely buy this again. The gradient jacket is also a great fit inside this jacket and they seem to be made for each other. Overall I highly recommend this jacket and I am excited to use them both in the future.

Have been using this jacket for the past five seasons. Been blessed enough to use it from Alaska to Texas in some rough conditions. I was very skeptical of this jacket because of the cost. I have been thoroughly impressed with this jacket. Layer underneath when cold and wear with a T shirt when warm. Be sure to treat the jacket each season and you will be back to new. I did experience an issue with the camo on the right sleeve after three seasons of use. SITKA took care of the issue and had it back to new. Very impressed with the company.

This jacket is made of quality materials. It is well made and a very good design, except for the two front "billow" pockets. The overal size of these pockets is way to small to to be effective for duck hunting and the stowing of gear. The opening for theses pockets is also way to tight. It is extremely difficult to gain access to these pockets with a gloved hand.

I purchased a Hudson Jacket in 2X last fall. The fit was amazing for me (5'10", 200) with Sitka top and Dakota Hoodie. I figured that this jacket would fit the same. It was huge in 2x. The sleeves were longer than the tips of my fingers fully extended. Maybe without the insulation it made it that much bigger, I'm not sure. I called and spoke to the reps prior to returning. I may try an XL to see if it fits a little better. Otherwise, it was excellent just like the Hudson that I have.

Incredible customer service. You get what you pay for. The design of the pockets is critical for hunting in the rain, shell pockets are strong, and pit zips are great for hiking into the marsh. I bought this jacket a few years back and absolutely loved it until my shooting shoulder started to get tiny pin holes allowing it to leak. I sent the jacket back after hunting season to be repaired. A few days later I received a personal call from the head of the waterfowl line to let me know the Delta jacket had been redesigned since the one I had purchased and this failure was unacceptable. He proceeded to tell a brand new one would be shipped to to me as soon as this years inventory became available. The new jacket arrived last week. Great work Sitka!

Not sure why the sleeve length only goes up a half inch in the larger sizes. I guide and know people that love theirs and I would love to have this wading jacket to replace the one I have now but being 6'6" and having long arms there is no point in getting it because it wouldn't reach my wrist. Most of my other gear has a sleeve length of 37-38 for XXL. If I was to layer up in this jacket my other layers would just be poofing out the wrist, kinda defeats the purpose of having water sealing cuffs. Hopefully, Sitka will start making their larger jackets with longer sleeves or have a tall option, especially for their outer layers. Otherwise I'm forced to buy somewhere else which sucks because I'm trying to get my hands on the best gear possible, which seems to be Sitka.

Got pounded all day from both the rain and wind and at the end of the day I was still warm and was not wet from the rain or the sweat. In addition the functionality of the jacket is second to none that I've ever tried. Doesn't restrict movement whatsoever, even in the hood. I think the material is top notch. My wife took a photo of me in regular Cabelas DU waders with the Sitka Delta Jacket on and against the back drop you could not see my upper body what so ever and the darker waders "stood out like a soar thumb." I love this jacket, it's awesome but the only thing I'm not totally sold on is the magnetic pockets. Inevitably I ended up put stuff in them but the magnets weren't strong enough to hold anything back and thus everything I put in the jacket at some point fell out, not good when you're around water. I think rare earth magnets would have been better for this application as well as extending a seem vertically to create a little bit of an actual pocket. The rubber sealed cuffs are awesome. Probably my favorite feature is the particular type of GoreTex material that used wasn't that load. In the past my head phones would amplify the noise my jacket made drowning out what other hunters were whispering in the blind. This was key. Overall this is a fantastic jacket and I'm extremely thrilled about the purchase.

One of my favorite features though is the hood. They arent large hoods that can block your vision when you swing back behind you. Also, it is a smaller hood that fits perfectly over your head even with a beanie on. I want to say though, this jacket has no insulation. This is an early season jacket for sure. I used this jacket for early teal/wood duck in arkansas as well as early duck season in october in North carolina. If you want to use this jacket later in the season, you will want to roll in the duck oven. Over all this jacket is awesome for an early season water proof and wind proof shell. The cuffs strap down to keep water out. The pockets are perfectly placed to allow shells calls and maybe an extra face mask to be easily stored and retrieved. The hood is the first cinch down hood that I have found that truly moves with your head, which is extremely important when you're in a blind. Too many times before I didn't see some Teal or wood ducks zooming in because when I turned my head my hood didn't move with me and blocked my view. This jacket fits perfect for my kind of duck hunting. I don't have the expendable income to get into duck club ponds so I do a lot of work in the dark getting to the spots that hold birds. The waterfowl season here in Eastern Washington starts with warm, downright hot, weather and ends with some howling, bitter cold. This jacket will do the job in all settings. Pit zips are a Godsend when you're lugging 2 dozen deeks on your back in October. It is uninsulated but roomy enough to layer up. The design on the articulated hood is a fantastic feature. I've never owned a jacket that allows you to keep your eyes on the sky during a downpour. It moves with you and keeps you dry. Pocket placement is another feature that makes you wonder why waterfowl gear makers haven't made this switch a long time ago. Weather you like your jacket outside your waders or tucked in, your pockets are accessible. One last word, durability. I caught my jacket a couple times on wire in the blind. Couldn't comprehend that it didn't tear a huge hole. Only one of those times did it actually do enough damage to create a waterproofing problem. Jacket is just the right length for wading, you don't have to worry about soaking the bottom 8 inches of material. Pockets in all the right spots, two for shells down low and two for your hands up on the chest. Cuffs on the sleeves are great for keeping water out and warmth in. Spent multiple hunts in the rain and with my hood cinched down and zipper pulled tight I managed to stay warm and dry, nothing worse than a morning spent wet and shivering and he Delta saved me on multiple occasions. Jacket is uninsulated but fitted in a way that allows for ample layers underneath depending on conditions. I wore it in weather from 25-65 degrees and just varied my layers as needed. It is easy to roll it up and stuff it in your bag if you take it off on the walk to the blind. Zipper is great, over sized and easy to manipulate with cold fingers.
