This is the first Sitka item I’ve bought and I am loving it! A week prior I had a walk in the woods and came back with 5 ticks I hadn’t found. Subsequently I had to medicate and it thrust me to the decision to purchase insect resistant clothing. A second walk in the same woods with the Sitka shirt - I found no ticks. During turkey season in Arkansas where I get to hunt, ticks are abundant, “skeeters” are non existent! As the ticks are as stated abundant, any knowledgeable person will also spray with a tick deterrent such as permethrin or deet. Normally with other clothing, one is still gonna have a tick slip through and latch on. That did not happen while using my Sitka Equinox “GUARD”. Very pleased with my hoody!

I can definitely say hunting early season archery last year and all of 2026 Spring turkey season, that Insect Shield is not effective. I have hunted central Virginia and coastal Virginia and was eaten alive without a thermacell turned on. I sprayed permethrin for the ticks and chiggers. The shirt runs big. A large fits like an extra large. The thumb loops are a great feature, the built in mask is just long enough to stay tucked into the top of the shirt and tight enough to stay on your face. The shirt length is great and designed to be turned into pants and it stays tucked. One chest pocket on your right side. As far as cooling of the shirt. Don’t expect miracles. This shirt breathes but you’ll still run hot once it gets mid 70s if you’re walking for any amount and wearing your vest. The Polygiene works fairly well and you can get away with not washing after every wear, especially if you didn’t sweat. I don’t always think that these clothes need to be a system, but the equinox garments are a “system” that I see the benefit.

If you are in a hot, humid, and buggy environment, this is the product you need. I have other “bug” shirts, but nothing that compares to the lightness as well as coverage of this hoodie. Bought the hoodie for turkey and fishing. Is is light weight so this is not something you want to wear on cooler days as your only outer wear. I don't like to wear insect clothing next to my skin, so I sized up so this could go as an outer layer over my regular clothes. Worked perfectly. First day was 32 degrees in the am, and the hoodie fit nicely over my base layer and my traverse hoodie. I was warm, and tick free on day one.
