Why We Made This
Whitetail hunters need quiet, durable and odor-resistant protection. Traditional outerwear isn’t as silent as advertised and lacks technical and intuitive hunting features. Our approach was to build a mid-layer fleece insulation piece that could be versatile enough to be worn as outerwear in the early season or layered into a system for all seasons. We used Polygiene® Odor Control Technology to minimize scent. A half-zip construction allows for quickly dumping heat and room for the built-in hand muff, and integrated flip-over hand mitts keep fingers warm and agile for the moment of truth.

Great piece. I wear it all season in Tennessee. It works well as an outer layer under a harness early in the season then transitions to a mid or additional layer as the season progresses. The built-in face mask is a great feature and eliminates the need to bring one separately. I never use the flip-over hand mitts and could live without the added bulk at the wrist, but see the benefit for colder climates. I consider this an essential component of my gear.
I absolutely love everything about this but I returned it immediately. The gloves/mittens…why?? They’re just awkward and I’d much prefer to just use gloves with it if I need them. I’d love to use this as a layering piece in cold weather but then I’m wearing normal gloves and now I’ve just got a bunch of extra material bunched at the sleeves. Awful for bow hunters with releases or string clearance. Would love to see this redesigned without the gloves…I’d buy in a heartbeat.
This piece is warm and the facemask feature is really nice. However, the flip mits are more of a bulky pain than they are a helpful feature, and most importantly, it is NOT a durable piece. I’m on my second one, and both have pulled up so bad that I need to get it repaired. My first one had a hand mitt rip off when putting on a jacket, and my current one lost its zipper in the wash, even after I followed all directions. I do not put this piece through much at all and it continues to be the least durable I own, which is disappointing because I want to like it!
Only used this hoodie a few times but impressed so far. It's not super warm, but it gives great warmth for how lightweight it is. You could use it as an outer during early season, outer during mid season with a base layer, and as an underneath layer during late season. The best part about it is the fit. Not too tight, but very streamlined and doesn't get in your way. Its snug enough to easily be an underneath layer but not too tight that you can still get a base layer underneath. Very versatile hoodie.
This hoody is the bomb! Lightweight, yet so warm and perfect for layering. Wasn’t sure what to think of the built in mitten option at first but man are they every handy for bow hunting, love them. The built in face mask and mittens are perfect for someone like me that looses a lot of stuff lol. Another high quality piece of hunting apparel by Sitka, highly recommended.
Would have given this a great review, however after only three evening sets in my tree stand this fall the hoodie has started to ball up worse than a 5 year old pair of cheap cotton sweatpants from Walmart. Called in and was told that they used synthetic materials and that "peeling" was considered normal. Very disappointed will be switching back to my cheap ten year old camo that to this day hasn’t had this issue.
I’m 5’11 170lbs and I ordered the large tall and it fits perfect! The quality is amazing I’m so glad I ordered this. Really a lot warmer than I thought but still abs great product Sitka has got another life long customer!
This is my go-to piece of gear for just about every hunt. I wear this all the time. The fit is great! Im 5'10 195 and I got a large and it fits great. I dont use the hand mitts that often but there are situations where they do come in handy. The built in face mask is one of the coolest features. It really helps you get your ninja mode on. When people ask me the one item that i use the most, its always the fanatic hoody.
Runs a little big, a firm piece of arsenal in my hunting gear.
By far the most useful item I have. At times it's almost too warm. I'm mainly hunting in Virginia and Arkansas. With or without a base layer this hoody is a workhorse.
The best, wear it all the time, year round. Dog training, dog tests, hiking, boating, fishing, hunting, working, going to the store. Three years still looks great.
Okay so I was extremely skeptical about this hoody, not for the quality but the fact that I didn’t see what the sleeves were all about, so when I found out that they are light Mittens...next level!
Best piece of gear I have bought! I’m 200 lbs and 6’1 and wear a large (x large was too big). I wear a large core midweight under it. Best combo for deer season here in MO. I bought my wife (non-hunter) one in black and she loves it. She wears it every day walking the dogs.
For a chick, I have way too many Sitka items. And I'd probably fight you for every one of them. I work outside and I do not like being cold. Fanatic bibs and jacket stopped that problem. But, if I could only have one piece, this would be it. I wear it almost everyday during the cooler months. Buy it, Then buy another one just in case something happens to the first one.
Hoodie is nice until it gets wet in the field or in the wash. This items has a very strong plastic/chemical smell when it gets wet. No matter how many washes it goes through with scent eliminator the smell remains.
I really like the versatility of the hoody. It’s a good late early season to a mid season hoody. I have no complaints but a big downfall is the pilling. I’ve worn the hoody a handful of times and it was pretty bad around the chest area.
My favorite all around piece of gear I own. I love the built in hoodie and mask. Overall, it's the comfort that makes this product over the top.
I’m 5’10 170 lbs and a medium fit great. Snug but not too tight. Just enough room for a thin base layer. The sleeves are pretty long due to the built in mitts. It’s hard to justify the price until you’ve hunted in it. It really is a versatile and great piece.
Really nice hoody, good layer piece under my status. I like the inner waffle fleece, hood, and face mask. I don’t care for the super long sleeves, I already have long arms and normally would appreciate the added length; It’s also pretty long on the torso. The mits came in handy tonight and cut the cold a bit which is nice. The kangaroo pocket is nice and also fleece lined, the downside is when wearing a harness the pocket is not real functional. Love the exterior, it’s smooth didn’t grab any burrs and is silent. Wish Sitka made a heavyweight hoody in elevated II.
This is one of the best pieces of gear I've had. It's warm, fits great, pockets are well places, and the face mask works great. I'm 5'10" 165lbs, bought a Medium. The fit is great!
It's an amazing piece as many other reviews say. My only complaint is the pilling that has shown up after only a handful of hunts.
Been hunting with my fanatic hoodie for 5 seasons now and it’s held up great! Durability of the material has held up impressively. Features on this piece are amazing, hand muffs are nice but not really needed in my opinion. Over the past two seasons (this and last) I noticed the odor control has been slipping, for example on warmer days, working up a sweat getting into a tree, once I layer over my base layer (typically a synthetic lightweight) the odor doesn’t go away. Maybe I’m not doing something right but I’ve been busted twice now and I swear it was the odor. Overall I’m extremely happy with the piece, it’s my go to for every elevated whitetail hunt. Also, I do wish Sitka would offer this in solid color options as well (along with the rest of their entire lines) - I know I’d buy another one of these if it was a solid (maybe even merino mix!?)
In my opinion, this is the most versatile piece in the whitetail line and the fit is spot on. I use it on every hunt from opening evening of bow season, through ice fishing season, and on til t-shirt weather hits. It's thinner and more form fitting than a standard hoodie, but somehow they figured out a way to make it just as warm. Use it as an outer layer when it's mild, and a base layer when temps start to drop. The hood is perfect, not baggy like most hoods but also not too tight. They nailed it. Even if it's warm outside I have it with me for when it chills off when the sun starts to go down. This hoody is also very durable. I've gotten it completely covered in the annoying tiny ball burs, picked them out, and you couldn't even tell it was riddled with burs at one point after I washed it. Amazing job Sitka!
Absolutely love this hoody! Built in facemask, the right weight for Texas most of the fall/winter season, love the pockets and the length.
If you are a hunter, this is a must have. Other than my Fanatic Jacket and bibs, this hoodie is the best in my arsenal. Extremly comforatable, warm and cool and the design of the concelment with the face mask and hood is brilliant. Well concealed but full vision. I cant stress enough how happy I am with this.
Hoody is warm and comfy, love the hood and facemask, but the mittens are annoying and I never use them. Overall, I would recommend!
Love this Hoody, I wear it all the time deer hunting. Great for layering or alone... Please offer it in Subapine pattern.
Going to be a key piece of my Sitka arsenal going forward. I used this hoody to close out the Kentucky whitetail season. In mid to high 30's I used the Fanatic hoody and a Sitka vest. Allowed me to stay warm all day. I actually wore the hood only to the stand and put the vest on once there. Fit is athletic cut and outstanding. Love the built in mesh face mask. Hood design has been improved and the flip over hand mitts work. Another exceptional piece of gear from Sitka.
Great hoody I use mid October on. It’s my top layer till the temps peak in the forty’s and is a good layer with the Shacket down to into the 20’s especially if there is low wind. The pouch in front is nice for hunting out of a saddle when it can be hard to get to your pockets on those first few frosty mornings.
An absolute must have. Run, don't walk to buy one of these if you don't have one already. Perfect to wear alone as an outer layer or as the mid layer as temps drop. The hood and face mask are absolutely amazing! Combine this with the fanatic gloves and the flip over mittens on the hoody and it makes for wearing heavy gloves unnecessary. When temps really drop throw on the incinerator muff and you have an amazing system.
The fanatic hoody should be a part of every serious whitetail hunters system!
I picked this up as a mid layer for hunting and casual wear and I'm totally in love with it. This is literally my favourite casual top for cold weather. I'm 5'10" and 170lbs and a medium is perfect! I'd like to add another color.
I like everything about this hoody! whoever designed it is a genius. The face mask works great and moves with your head when you turn it unlike a balaclava where after a few head turns it's blocking your vision and you have to move it back in position. The hand mitts are spectacular! I'm a bowhunter so I don't often wear gloves for fear of interfering with my release. With the mitts I can put my release under it, keep my hands warm and not interfere with the release. When walking to and from the stand I pull the flaps over my fingers to keep them warm. So from my point of view this hoody does away with needing a balaclava and gloves. I will be buying another one in case the other one needs washed as it will forever be in my layering system. Sitka please make a light weight core hoody with a kangaroo pocket in the front. No one in the world makes one and it would be so useful for storing things and keeping bugs from eating my hands in the warm early season.
My family has raved about Sitka Gear for the past few years, all based around moose hunts. This is my first Sitka product, DAMN, I am a believer!! I love this hoody, and show it off whenever I have a chance. Not to boast about what I have, but because everyone should have one.
This is an awesome piece. I recently wore this with a Tshirt underneath in 44 degree weather with a slight breeze. Was not hunting was actually at Six Flags and never once did I get cold riding the coasters, waiting in line etc..... The fit is right one, the hooding with face mask is exceptional. Will definitely wear this under my Fanatic Jacket...Just waiting to go whitetail hunting in Missouri in January.....I doubt that I will freeze like I did 3 weeks ago now that I have Sitka gear.....Awesome quality and awesome gear
Other than the price I love this shirt. As it gets colder in NE Ohio, I start off with my long sleeve t, the the heavy weight half zip t, then the hoodie. The face mask I thought was a novelty idea, but turns out I love it. I've always had the big wooly neck gaiters in the past, I've used this 18 degree Temps and it keeps your face warm, and I'm a freeze baby. If there were something I didn't like I would tell you, but the hood, doesn't block your vision, the face mask doesn't sag, the mitten things Idk about never used them. But definitely 2 enthusiastic thumbs up.
Very versatile
A must have for bow hunters
This hoodie is amazing. I wore it with a Core L/S, medium weight merino top and my Stratus pants and at 29 degrees, I was toasty warm. My first weekend with Sitka has made me a believer!
This hoodie is amazing one of my favorite layers keeps the wind out great especially of your neck with the mask a squirrel almost climbed on me I was blended in so well
That one item that you will use anywhere for everything. This is it. Super strong. Snug and comfy. Always warm. I take it everywhere for every hunt. Waiting for the subalpine color to come out. You can’t go wrong with this piece.
Love this hoody. Perfect layering piece of eart season pack along for when the sun starts to go down. Every time I go hunting, I either have it on or with me. The extended length in the back is an awesome feature. Would recommend.

Incredibly well made, surprisingly warm for the weight. My only complaint would be the size. I’m between an XL and XXL, ordered the XXL and it's a tent! Kept it to wear over a puffy in late season.
Awesome product!
There's a lot of companies trying to replicate the fanatic hoody. This is the best. Purpose built for bowhunting, warm as a nice outer layer down to upper 40's, great as another layer. It's fantastic
I just got for Christmas one of the best pieces I have. Love all the features, full front handwarmer pocket, hood with face mask, gloves, small vertical chest pocket. I may buy another one to wear casually.
