They work well with the waders and they work great without waders. Last used in 16 to 28 degree temps, three hunts with waders and one hunt without. All four times I was warm. Recommend Merino wool as a first layer. The heel cuffs are a great idea, making it simple when doning waders. Fit is comfortable.

I gave this a four because the tall size seems to have the same design issue as the tall waders: when you bend down on one knee the materials stretches tight on a line from knee to crotch. The waders were so bad I had to return them. The gradient pant material has a little more flex and I’m putting up with them. Otherwise, it’s a great product. But it appears to me Sitka has a design problem with tall sizes. I don’t say this lightly because I’m a huge Sitka fan. And while I’m putting up with the gradient pant, I would not buy them again because of the tall fit. I’m 6’5” and weigh 200 lbs.

These pants are perfect for exactly what they were designed for - warmth underneath your bibs or waders. For me personally, the fit just wasn’t there. The LRG was too long and had too much room in the crotch creating bunching and the MED was too small in the waist (I’m 5’10” waist sz 34). I wanted to like these and prefer this style with the zipper than other sweats sitka is introducing but I had to return them.

These really are perfect all around base layers. I wear them under my waders, fanatic bibs when its really cold in Ohio, and around the house. The only downside I can mention is the double fly zipper. Dont really understand why there are two zippers? Other that that theyre awesome.

I purchased the Gradient Pant to go over my base layer and my outer layer for warmth. The fit of the Medium was true to size and it helped keep me warm in the cold weather of November in Northern Minnesota; it was a blessing. If you are looking for a good mid-layer for warmth, the Gradient Pant is the way to go.

I’m an athletic build (215lbs/34. 5” waist) with the quads to match. I bring this up because I have had issues with Sitka pants, and others, fitting. The L in these pants fit as I envision they should—fitting to the lower body as an under layer, but not constricting to cause discomfort. they have the an integral belt to snug up(which I have to do). They have the versatility to be worn as a standalone item, but when layered will extend your clothing’s temperature range capability. I wish I’d have owned these years ago.
