I had the previous model of this coat which ran quite big for its size and was a lighter outside material then felt more like a ski coat not a work coat. I order the coat again and to my suprise sitka has changed the model some and let me tell you what a better job this time around. Although I went down a size from my previous coat that was to big and the new one was to small so I sent it in for a bigger size I'm 230 pound and the xl fits perfect. The coat has a very tuff outer material almost like something a work big or coat is made out of. The main pockets zip shut which is kinda nice the old coat just had big open pocket then would fill up with snow. The top pockets are magnetic and are of good size. The insulation is very light and thin keeping the coat from being bulky but is plenty warm in michigan standing around in the cold I where a hoody underwear but moving or working the cost itself and a t-shirt is plenty. Only real complaint is that the hood has pull strings to tighten up around face but it doesn't appear to have a pull back on the back and the hood I would say runs a touch deep which is great if you have a Beanie on but big and in hard to manage without and seem to get infront of my eyes. Overall though absolutely a wonder well thought out coat I highly recommend.

I work outsize all winter in the mountains. This jacket is actually wind proof. Not necessarily super warm though, so I wear a wool shirt under and the combination keeps me toasty warm.

Just purchased the sitka grindstone work jacket and boy is this thing light and super warm also lobe the magnetic top pockets work it in the rain this past week and didn't get wet at all and was super warm this is one of the best work jackets I have tried yet

First impression of the jacket is that it’s super nice and best casual coat I have had for awhile. Wind proof and water resistant for sure but my only grip is the sleeve style. Wish there was some type of sizable cuff instead of the standard size the is always slipping over my hands. Pockets could be a little better designed but we can’t have it all. Upper is small and inside is not deep enough to trust with phone or wallet. Super comfortable and tough. Hoody is spot on. Thanks Sitka.

I really like this jacket some pros and cons for me are: Pros: -Excellent durable material and construction. -Fits great (except sleeves) -Like the pocket layout and magnetic closures on the chest -It really is a great looking jacket Cons: -Sleeves fit long -Hood seems unnecessarily large, floppy fit -Not very much insulation, thin for a winter jacket in my area (Northern Canada) Great Jacket, just a couple minor gripes. I will add I bought the Bluff Berber jacket at the same time and layer that underneath on cold days. The two together seem to be a really nice combination for extra warmth if your in a colder area.

I live in alaska and work road construction in the summer and do snow removal in the winter. The only time I am grabbing a different jacket is in the blistering cold (anything below -10 Fahrenheit.) and if my jacket was a little larger I would probably just layer under it in those colder temperatures. Hands down the best multi dimensional jacket I have ever owned. It has great dexterity and incredible durability. I have only owned it a year But I have been incredibly hard on it digging ditches and the only wear on the jacket is from oil, fuel and grease. For the price it is more than a bargain, I usually don’t say that when it comes to a lot of Sitka products but good luck finding a better jacket for general labor. A jacket I tried before this one was the arcteryx alpha sv an 800$ jacket that is a different style and non insulated but it completely fell apart. The only complaint I would have had is the pockets that are open and have a vertical entry which leaves potential for things to fall out but it looks like Sitka already fixed that with this new model. 11/10 fantastic jacket.
