As the title states the hoodie is great as a layer over merino. It's also warm enough and looks great as an outer layer for everyday use in the spring and fall. Hoodie is true to size, I'm 5'11" and 210, XL fits great.

True to size. Plenty of room to layer under or over depending on the weather. I’ve worn this most of the winter as a base layer but when it got colder I wore a vest over it or a jacket. Decently warm till around 30-40 degrees.

This hoodie is right on

This hoodie is right on the money for those really cold weather days when you need a little extra. I absolutely love hoodies in extreme and near-extreme conditions. It’s easy to feel comfortable with the right gear, and this is that layer for very cold temps.

Even though the weather is warming up, I wore this while playing golf on a 50 degree windy day. I loved that it kept me warm and allowed flexibility throughout the day. Can’t wait for duck season to put it to the test!

Bought this for a mid-layer. Couldn't ask for a more comfortable and warm piece. Fits true to size. I'm 6' and 200 lbs. Went with XL and it's perfect.

Absolutely Love the heavyweight hoodie. They’re so comfortable and warm. I wear mine all the time for hunting and at work I have 3 of them for myself and I bought 1 for my son and a buddy of mine. They both wear them all the time for hunting.

Good hoodie, bad fabric odor

I purchased 2 of these heavyweight hoodies. They are a great base-layer/mid-layer. They are warm for their intended use. My dissatisfaction comes from the smell coming from the material that they are made from. The smell isn't super strong until your body heat warms up the material and intensifies the odor to the point that I have a hard time keeping it on. I spoke to customer care and the gentleman recommended washing it again, (I had already washed it in Woolite in hopes of washing out the odor, as well as hanging them with a fan gently blowing on them) I will wash again and see what happens. I was told by my son that Sitka was a "Top of the Line" company so I splurged and bought these articles, but sadly am not confident that they will be wearable. . .

Best hunting hoodie

I’ve tried most every hoodie out there and the Sitka Heavyweight Hoodie is by far my favorite. It’s the perfect outer layer in the early season, and a mid layer staple as the year progresses. The hood is perfect and can be zipped up to fully cover your face unlike most other offerings. I’m 5’10” 195lbs and the large is perfect. Best hoodie out there!

Warm and Comfortable

First heavyweight article. I’ve been using medium weight for years but wanted something just a bit warmer for a specific trip. This did not disappoint but wasn’t so extremely warm that it was unbearable. Breathes well during exertion and relies quickly. Ver pleased with the heavyweight.

I just knew I had to have one after a buddy suggested it. I used it on a late season deer hunt with cold temps and high winds. The hoodie kept my head and face warm as it almost like having a built in mask. the material is comfortable all the way around I will definitely be getting another one

Favorite Hoodie

Love the fit and function of this hoodie. Especially like how the hood conforms to my head even when I turn it to max rotation. Thumb slots work great. More insulating than you would think based on material thickness. I own two of them (XL). Highly recommend.
