I just got back from a snow goose hunt where it poured every day for three days straight! 0 water got in. Would highly recommend only thing I would say if you were to ever remake this jacket make the hood about 3 inches longer!

Jacket is a home run

This year I didn’t have a good rainy hunt to judge it in the rain. However, in the blind and on and upland hunt it was warm, comfortable, I had great mobility swinging my shotgun and literally could feel no wind at all. I know it’s a parka but I’d like it better if it were just a little shorter in length. My duck oven fits nicely underneath for more warmth but I have yet to need it in the field.

Excellent piece of kit

Everything about this jacket is very well thought out and the quality is second to none. It is versatile enough that I bring it with me on all hunting trips and toss it on when the weather turns crummy. Cold and wet conditions doesn’t have to mean miserable conditions when you have the right gear.

Love this jacket

Best jacket I have owned for water and wind protection. Fits true to size. If you want to layer alot underneath it, I would go up a size. That being said, with a good base layer and a long sleeve shirt underneath it, I was more than warm during my most recent hunting trip with temps in the upper 30s and winds over 20 mph. Highly recommend this jacket.

Finally bit the bullet and bought a piece of Sitka gear after a longtime duck hunting friend showed me his Hudson jacket. Best jacket ever! Just put it through the tests on a two week Arkansas duck hunt. First week was bone chilling cold and wind. Highs in the low teens with lows below zero. Winds at 10-20 plus. Never felt anything with the Hudson. Second week had a couple days of driving wind and rain with temps in the high 30's. Once again, didn't feel a thing. Stayed warm and dry despite being in an exposed blind with no roof. This stuff works! Sitka is all I plan to buy and use for anything outdoors!

Best jacket I have ever owned. Though it is expensive, it’s the most comfortable, best fitting, warm and plenty of pockets. I had a Hudson stolen out of my truck and I didn’t hesitate to buy another one. Best on the market!

If you want the best, you have found it

This jacket is, bar none, as good as it gets! The perfect amount of insulation to keep you warm in hunts as cold as below zero degrees, and the right amount of rigid toughness that still gives you the full range of motion for any hunting scenario. The water and wind proofing is bullet proof. Paired great with a heavyweight hoody and/or an ambient jacket underneath on the very cold days. Great as a single layer for warmer wet hunts when the temps are around 40. I will never get cold again. In fact, I commonly get too warm. I find it critical having all half/full zip layers underneath to release built up body heat on those long early morning hikes in to keep from sweating out, unzipping everything down to my t shirt or baselayer. Let yourself cool down, then zip up and forget about it. I recommend this jacket to any serious waterfowl hunter who is sick of being cold, wet, and constricted by too many layers. Just about perfect

This has to be one of the most wind and waterproof jackets I have ever worn. I've used it all this season for the boat ride and in the timber and it hasn't disappointed. The fit is excellent even when layered over my mid layer and waders. I did remove the call loops just because I prefer a lanyard, to each his own. My only complaint is with the length of the jacket the zipper can be hard to start, but that could just be me.

I have not used my Hudson Jacket for hunting yet but I did wear it ice fishing and it was awesome. A very light yet very warm coat that is everything as advertised. Duck hunting in Ohio is over for the season but i wear the coat any chance it is warranted.

Best Gear for the Outdoors

We depend on Sitka gear to keep our guests and our staff protected from the harsh environs of the Texas Mid-Coast! Last year we added a large number of jackets to our rental department and they've saved a many trip for our guests!

Great over-garment

Knowing that I was using the garment as an outside layer I went up from xl to 2xl. It is pretty true to size so with that said I could have got the xl in extra long and been just fine but I prefer a little extra room for layering. Pockets are very well thought out! Zippers are water proof/resistant and high quality. I use the duck oven under this and stay crazy warm. Very solid product you won't be unhappy with garment.

Absolutely the best coat I’ve ever owned.

This coat is absolutely the best coat I have ever owned. Completely waterproof comfortable big pockets, and extremely warm and windproof. Sitka may be more money than most, but it is absolutely the best product if you’re a waterfowler.

Huge design flaw

Everything about this jacket is perfect, Except Sitka in my opinion provided a feature that makes this product unusable. The chest pockets Sitka figured should be left open with no zippers or anyway to close. In a rainstorm you get to just watch them fill with water counting down the minutes to inevitable leaking in the future. Why were weather tight zippers excluded?

This is a great jacket. I have worn this on multiple duck hunts this season and it kept me warm and dry! I went a size larger to allow for extra layers, but I would say it is true to size.

In 25 degree weather all i wear is a hoodie under this and you'll stay warm, even running the boat this jacket is all you need.

Best of All Worlds

In two words, this jacket is bad a$$! It is comfortable, warm, waterproof and stretches in all the right spots! The pockets are placed perfectly and there is no bulk to limit movement! This will be my go to jacket for waterfowling when it gets cold!

Awesome jacket, requires layering for temps 40 or less

As with all Sitka products this jacket is extremely well made. With the goretex technology it is highly water proof and relatively breathable. The rubber gaskets on the end of the sleeves actually work quite well when cinched down. The shell pockets are good sized and the chest pockets are a comfortable place to hang out. The cellphone pocket on the inside of the jacket is a little small but phone sizes are highly variable year to year. Biggest complaint is that for the money it is not that warm. Given the price point I figured it would be warmer. It is advertised as 3/5 on the warmth scale. I ordered this jacket online and did not try it on in store so there is ownership on me. I am 6’1” 215 lbs so don’t get cold easy but to be comfortable in the duck blind for 3-4 hours if its 30-40 degrees I am wearing my ambient jacket underneath with two other merino base layers as well. If you are hunting ducks anywhere where you experience near or subfreezing temperatures, which is most hunters, I would recommend a warmer jacket. Additionally, as all products are field tested it would be informative if Sitka could recommend a temperature range for products in a static setting in addition to the bar scale. Ultimately I wish would have purchased the Boreal Jacket instead of this Hudson. Once again, on me for not going to a store and putting eyes on it myself. Great product that works well on its own for early season hunts here in Western Washington and with layers for later on in the season. I will continue to recommend and exclusively purchase Sitka for waterfowl hunting gear/clothes.

Broken zipper

We got this for our son for Christmas. He loves it but we’ve had issues with the zipper and now it broke.

Tough Jacket

This is one tough jacket. I've hit it on tree branches while driving the boat. Slip on ice in a duck blind and roughed it up but no damamge to the jacket. I'm 6'2 and 215lbs. The large tall fits great.
