I just ordered this earlier in the week and paid for two day shipping as I was planning to hunt in Western Washington for blacktail deer and rain was was called for all day long. I can 100% say that the Kodiak jacket and the expedited shipping was worth EVERY cent. I got rained on for hours, and even through my “waterproof” boots ended up failing, my Kodiak kept my head and upper 3/4 of my body 100% dry. Cheap rain gear will fail at points of friction and at seams, this jacked did not. I didn’t feel one drop of water get through the jacket, even under my pack, which was getting very wet. Also, the pass through pockets were a lifesaver as I could put my hands in wool gloves through them to keep them from getting wet. I highly recommend this jacket.

I have used this jacket for the past months through the New Zealand and Australian winter.
I have the Stormfront jacket also and have found this one to be more practical under the real serious conditions we face in Fiordland and when hound hunting in the midst of winter in the Alpine country.
The extra coverage afforded by this jacket is without doubt worth the extra little weight. I can utilise my Kelvin light or WS and never compromise the cover on these insulation layers where the Stormfront just doesn’t offer that coverage in extreme conditions.
This is easily the best jacket I’ve used under adverse conditions and I’ve used pretty much every product from every high end US, New Zealand manufactures.

I hunt at least one serious backcountry hunt a year. These hunts depend on staying absolutely dry with a minimum of gear. I bought this jacket for my 2017 North Slope Caribou hunt. This was a solo very remote bush plane drop camp situation. There is zero fuel for starting a fire up there to dry out gear and warm up, really no room for error on getting wet. I chose this jacket after extensive research and thought. It performed very very well. As mentioned in a previous comments, it is like a wearable rain tent. I spent hours and hours sitting and lying down in wet tundra with slushy half snow rain coming down, glassing and waiting. I stayed bone dry and warm. This jacket is really a four star except I would add one important feature. It could use a second heavier layer on the fold down section where your butt sits on wet ground when glassing. Just a small well placed area where there is prolonged contact with wet ground. The best rain jacket I have had to date, 40 years in the field. Thank you Sitka for this jacket.

Just lived under this thing for a foul weather late season hunt on Kodiak Island. In short, it’s a mobile rain shelter. The Gore Tex Pro outer layer took some serious abuse busting through dense brush to get above tree line and shows no sign of wear. It’s easy to hike in even when full length and carrying a pack. If you’re in for wet weather, I can’t think of anything else I’d rather be under for long days.

Over all very pleased with the jacket. The only reason I didn't give it 4 stars was because I am waiting to see how durable it is and how the jacket holds up over the long haul. But right away I am very impressed and love this new rain jacket for the wet PNW. I love the longer length. I wore this jacket and gaiters and was dry. I have worn it a few times in western Washington State. It poured rain and this jacket stayed dry while hiking and bushwhacking. The large pit zips are very nice and I like the way the hood was made and fits. It is much quieter than I thought it would be and to test it out I lazily stalking from 150 yards to 70 yards on a black tail deer. She never saw or herd me. The zippers operate pretty quiet as well. I got a size XL and am 6'6" 230 lbs. The XL fits well with layers underneath and a bino harness on underneath as well.
