Absolutely the best pair of pants I have ever worn. I live and hunt in Alaska and during the day, I might sweat a little but at night I'm the only comfy one. Super durable. Best pants Sitka has made hands down. Best bang for your buck too.

I love these Dakota pants. I wear them some days under my Hudson Bibs while waterfowl hunting in dry fields. Most days I wear them coyote hunting at night. Wish they would make a charcoal or black pair as well.

Another very functional product from Sitka. Has been great for early season goose dry land hunting and liner under waders as it cools off. The 4 way stretch is very comfortable unlike any pant I’ve worn and still durable. I’m 6’ 175lbs with a measured 35” waist and the 34” regular is perfect.

I’ve been wearing Sitka gear for 6 seasons now and these are my first experience with pants. They are as good as it gets. Sizing: I am 6’ 180lbs and normally wear a 34”-35” waist. The retailer had both 32” and 34” in stock so I was able to try both. The 32’s were just a bit snug but close. The 34” were perfect with a finger of room to spare. I tried on the Gradient pant also - fit was the same but the fleece lining on the Dakotas made them feel much more comfortable. Early goose season weather in Michigan can be all over the map but these have out performed every pant I’ve ever worn. At 66 I’ve seen the evolution from stiff waxed outer wear to Sitka. Lighter, high tech insulation, incredible zippers and zipper placement this stuff truly is gear not clothing. Once you try Sitka there is no going back. I have convinced a number of my hunting cronies to try Sitka and the comments are all the same: “wish I had tried this stuff sooner”.

These are extremely comfy and durable pants. The fit is great, and I love the amount of pockets, the knee vents, and the material. The have just enough stretch without feeling like sweat pants. I feel like I can wear these every day during season and they will last the test of time.

I love these pants...warm and comfortable. My only gripe with them is the same gripe I've heard from anyone else who owns these...why not make them in big game camo patterns? I mentioned this to someone at Sitka once on the phone, and his comment was that a layering system is more ideal for big game hunters, so it's more suited for bird hunters. Guess what...bird hunters layer too, so that makes no sense. Sometimes when it's really cold, it's nice to have that extra fleece layer without piling into 17 different pairs of britches! Maybe I want a base layer and a fleece lined pant for a really cold day of deer or elk hunting late season? Why is that so hard to understand?

Also, I love that these pants don't have those stupid gimmicky knee pads! Yes, I know the knee pads are removable from the big game pants, but it still leaves extra bulky layers around the knees due to the sleeve where you slide the knee pad into. Plus I don't want to pay for a knee pad I'm just going to remove anyway. Let's be honest...90 percent of us don't use the knee pads anyway, and at best they are really only useful for archery hunters that have to sneak in extra close. Archery season is early in the year, so why do the Timberline pants need knee pads?

My suggestion to Sitka: Either offer these pants in big game patterns and recognize that late season big game hunts can be really cold, or remove the stupid knee pads from the Timberline pants, and add the fleece liner to them instead. Maybe you need to try a late season hunt in Wyoming or Montana and see how cold it gets if you really don't understand???

I am an upland bird hunter so this review is based on that pursuit. I bought these for those late season roosters in MN, SD, & ND. I am also a tall hunter 6'3" and the longs fit perfect for me. I am also an athletic fit at 190, if this information helps in your purchase. I like the ability to layer wil these pant. Cool days I can wear no base layer and stay nice and warm. On those single digit days and wind in the teens I can layer and achieve the same warmth. Highly recommend.

Nice pants. They’re very comfortable and fit very well. I love the little bit of insulation they have and they keep me warm in freezing when paired with a heavy weight base layer pant inside my insulated breathable waders. Although they are not the absolute warmest wader pants out there, but I give that up for the durable shell of these pants which looks nice and works well for an outer layer on not so brutal field and dry land hunts. Only real gripe is for me they run a touch long in the inseam compared to other Sitka pants.

Not what I was expecting. They are actually really thick I bought these for multiple uses when deer hunting and waterfowl. I have 34 waste I'm 5'6 they were extremely too long. And quite noisy but not as bad as some nomad pants I already had. Immediately put them on when I got them as I'm always excited to get new gear and they were too warm if I wanted them to be this thick and heavy I would've purchased bibs. I like the solid pants. I returned this product. I understand the layering process but here in Texas I won't have much of use for it. I plan to use base layers and will exchange for the grinder pants instead. On bright side the vents are amazing but still not enough for me. They are super soft and comfortable as I've found with most sitka products are. However they are thick but they are NOT bulky.

I have never owned Sitka until a month ago. The price point was always the distraction but I'm a firm believer in "you get what you pay for" so I ended up biting the bullet and let me tell you, the fit and quality of these pants are second to none!! I have not put these to the test in the field as of this post but I have no doubt that they will perform flawlessly. Another area of concern was sizing, because everything fits differently. I'm 6'1", 175lbs with a 35" measured waist (in between Sitka's recommended sizing); the 34R is PERFECT with a thumbs-width room for allowing for a base layer and tucking a base layer shirt into the pants. Well done Sitka!! I'm excited to receive the Sitka Dakota hoodie that I just ordered thanks to the Black Friday sales. :)

There may not be a better all around pant out there! The soft fleece lining makes these more comfortable than your favorite flannel, lounge around the lodge pants. These are great under the waders during mid season. Enough to keep you warm, while providing soft comfort. Just as I do with the Grinder Pant, I wear the Dakota Pant (in Mud) all Fall and Winter; for dog training and trips to town. However, they have quickly become my favorite pant for laying round the house on a lazy afternoon as well. The Dakota Pant; fits right, moves well and is flat comfortable!

I bought the Back 40, Hanger, and Dakota pants. All are VERY comfortable and all have a pretty good fit. All are expensive, all are Asian or manufactured over seas someplace which is very disappointing. The Dakota pants seem to be the only one worth the money. They are warm and durable, fit the description and usage. You can save some money on the Back 40 and Hanger pants by going with a nice pair of Carhartt pants or some other brand. The Back 40 snag easily and for the price there are less expensive comparable alternatives. The Hanger pants are a real disappointment. I haven't used them for hunting or walking through fields of brush, if I did they'd be torn to shreds. I've used them for work on the farm and what briar or brush I have encountered has these things picked and snagged all over. They do not fair well. These are not brush pants by any means, work pants are a push, they're just glorified Docker's. Do not recommend.

Under hips or waders when the temps drop, this pant will keep you warm! As well, the construction and fabric is rip and tear resistant like nothing I've seen. Hunting South Texas in between the Dakotas and Arkansas, cactus can be a problem. I went through more than one pair of pants a year from competitors before making the switch. Best thing I ever did! My dad is turning 70 this year and has always been stuck in his old ways, but after he's seen the Sitka lineup and how it holds up season after season, he's convinced and making the switch himself! Sitka isn't a brand, it's a way of life!

Super comfortable, true to size, and the DWR finish is more than enough to keep me dry hunting in light rain or from drips and splashes paddling through timber looking for woodies. If this pant came in Subalpine and Elevated II I'd buy them in a second.

I did not have these pants for the start of the season, so I only have about 15 days of hunting in them. By far the best waterfowl pant I have ever worn! I hunt in Colorado, where weather conditions change all the time. Teen’s in mornings with high 40’s even 50’s in the afternoon, high winds, dead calm blue bird days, some rain and one day of driven wet snow. They work great in all conditions, I also wear them under waders, very comfortable, these will be my go to pant even for late season. My only complaint is they could use suspenders like the Mountain pant. Would be 5 stars if they did. I love my Sitka gear!

They are VERY comfortable, and depending on what you layer underneath, should be very versatile. So far I’ve worn them without another layer and once with a light wool layer.

I almost wish I’d ordered the solid color so I could play golf in then when it’s cold.

The Sitka quality you expect, but perhaps not the Sitka sizing you expect. Think "heavyweight Grinders", but they run large. I have several pairs of Timberlines in 34R, two pairs of Grinders in 34R, and one pair of Ascents in 34R. Those all fit like they were tailored for me. The Dakotas in 34R that I just ordered, on the other hand, are considerably larger and longer. Suspenders would keep them up, but they aren't made with the suspender loops of the other pants - so I end up with a belt cinched a little too tight to be comfortable or to look good. Consider sizing down, or at least leave the tags on until you're sure you're happy with the fit so that you can return them if necessary.
