I got these pants for a western KS antelope hunt with anticipation to use them for western elk as well. I give praise to the durability of these pants considering that I was either crawling on my knees or flat against the ground sliding the whole front half along bare/gravelly dirt and cactus ridden pasture ground that hadn't seen water for months. Hunted some hot weather(90+ temps) and staying cool was tough. This could also be attributed to the lack of shade and several miles of hiking that was done throughout the day. They picked up a fair amount of burs but they did come out with ease. As far as water resistance goes, there was nothing to gauge that on, though I never did feel like they retained moisture from sweat. The thing I was most disappointed with was the fading out of the pattern on the front thighs and knees after that week of hunting. Yes, this is more related to the style of hunting I put them through, but also makes me question how long it would take to fade out if used more in relation to what they were designed for. I would still recommend these if you plan on doing more hiking through mountains, the stretch and durability is excellent for being a lightweight hunting pant.

Opening day of deer season it was rainy, foggy and cold. Pants kept me dry and comfortable as ever pushing thru heavy wet underbrush. Would recommend.

I really liked these pants for my September elk hunt and will wear them for late season as well. I’ll be picking up a few more before next season.

I expected better quality from a Sitka product... After two trips with these pants the pocket seam has come undone. I would barely recommend these for trips to the mall; one fall in the parking lot and you might tear the knees. My other Sitka products have meet/exceeded expectations, just not these pants.

Used these during spring turkey season. Kept me warm in the early morning, but weren’t too hot while hiking around during the afternoon and evening. Lightweight and extremely comfortable. I’ll be getting them back out for archery elk this fall. I’ve only used them one season, but they seem like they’d hold up to the brush-stomping grind. The zippered thigh pockets are a nice touch and have plenty of room.

Having used these throughout last season, they're an excellent pant. The fit is better than most with excellent flexibility. The fabric used was quiet for bow season, and held up well through many hunts while guiding. I would highly recommend this pant for a good overall hunting pant that can be used on a multitude of hunting conditions.

So far I have used these pants on 2 Arizona hunts with temps ranging from around 20 degrees (Northern, AZ) to around 75 degrees (Southern, AZ). At the lower temps I used a base layer underneath and the pants did excellent and I was warm. The pants did great at warmer temps without a base layer. The only compliant I have was I had a belt clip knife I clipped on the right re-enforced pocket and I found due to the pant stretch, the knife would get wound up and turned around at times. Near the end of my 1st hunt, I lost my knife as it popped off somewhere and I didn't feel it. On the second hunt I did clasp a belt clip knife because I did not want to loose a knife. The re-enforced area on the pockets, made for belt clipped knives, should be made thicker and more ridged.

I bought a pair of these in 34R, they fit true to my normal Levi's. Comfortable with a little bit of flex in the fit. I got these pants with the intent of using them during the early archery season in PA. Temps are normally in the 40s to the mid 70s that time of the year. On my hike to my stands even though I was a little warm the pants did a great job at keeping me dry with light sweating. The pockets are versatile and there are enough of them to keep just about anything you'd want in your pockets separated to minimize noise. As far as noise goes you won't find a better pair of pants to keep you quiet. I highly recommend these..

Perfect pair of pant for that new Sitka gear hunter, great for that always moving hunter as they are very breathable.

This is a seriously comfortable pair of pants. Between these and the mountain pant (fairly heavier) I can't wait to rack up some October miles in Colorado.

Haven’t had a chance to field test but the pant seems a lot like the old Ascent pant with some subtly upgrades. Comfortable and the 4 way stretch is a nice add. I’m a bit perplexed as to why there are no kneepad pockets? Weight? They are really helpful in your other pants. Wish the Traverse had them.

A Tale of Two Roars

Rustic wooden gates groaned open as our Toyota HiLux rumbled through. We navigated the rutted, winding dirt road; every pothole and washboard negotiated revealing another layer of the towering Andes Mountains. A gin-clear river meandered through the valley floor. Willows on the cusp of fall color shimmered in the cool afternoon breeze. This was the start of the annual breeding season for red deer in northern Patagonia—also known as the roar.
