Why We Made This

Hunters need the absolute best protection from the chill of long sits in mid-season. We designed the Stratus with GORE® WINDSTOPPER® to create a fully featured, 100% windproof jacket that was optimized for these exact conditions. The DWR finish sheds off light precipitation, and we utilized micro-grid fleece for its warmth-to-weight ratio. The addition of a removable hood and safety harness pass-through port allow for layering when conditions change.

Features & Benefits

Complete Windproof Protection

The 100% windproof GORE® WINDSTOPPER® membrane is encased between an ultra-quiet wet-printed microfleece face fabric and an insulating micro-grid fleece interior.

Zippered Hand and Chest Pockets

Safely and quietly cache necessities.

Safety Harness Pass-Through Port

The safety harness pass-through port allows you to wear a harness closer to your body and add or subtract layers without removing the harness as conditions change.

Durable Water Repellent Finish

The DWR finish resists light precipitation and prevents the face fabric from wetting out.

Removable Hood

Flip up the hood in bitter winds or remove it completely in mild conditions.

WINDSTOPPER® products shelter hunters from the adverse effects of bone-chilling winds. The WINDSTOPPER™ membrane works with our base layers to prevent overheating and perspiration build-up by allowing moisture vapor to easily escape.

Sitka is incredible, I should have spent the money long ago, this jacket is true to size and is so comfortable

Superb outer for white tail. The most versatile piece in the whitetail line IMO. A staple of everyone’s layering system

The thing is a workhorse! I can wear this jacket for a large portion of the season in Wisconsin comfortably. It can be too warm on those hot September days, and not warm enough for an all day sit in November, but its great for all the sits in the middle. The windstopper is a lifesaver, and the DWR finish has let me sit through short lived heavy rains, and hours of light rain with no problem. This has to be the most versatile piece in the whitetail line up.

Ok, I’m not one to write reviews, but this gear is really different, in a good way. I was tired of years of spending money on highly marketed hunting clothes that just don’t work. Sitka Gear is different. I first purchased the Stratus jacket and pants for whitetail now and muzzleloader seasons. Amazed at the gear and the true comfort from heat, cold and sweat. As it has gotten colder, I purchased the heavyweight merino base layer and the Incinerator jacket and bibs. The base layer with the Stratus system to my stand, with the Incinerator gear for the extreme cold waiting has worked beautifully. I’ve never been so comfortable hunting in the cool, cold and extreme cold environments before. Yes, this gear is expensive, but Sitka has engineered the design, coupled with the best component suppliers to give hunters a truly worthwhile product. Well done guys. And hats off to your non-box retailers like and Bean Outdoors as your customer-focused, seasoned hunting distributors. Thank you!

This jacket is amazing. I'm 6' 3" 215 athletic build. I would recommend ordering a size larger. I am a large in T shirts but I wear an XL in this jacket. Pros: Warm, comfortable, quiet material, wind stopper actually works. Cons: only thing I can find negative about this jacket are the zippers being noisy when opening or closing them quickly and the material they put around the chest pockets makes a squeaking noise when the eye cups of my binos rub against it. Other than that, this jacket is one of the best I own. I wear this jacket in cold conditions 35 degrees with 10-15 mph winds with a few layers or warm weather 50-60 degrees. It doesn't absorb water during light consistent rains either. I would recommend this to anyone.

This jacket is excellent as far as warmth and quality goes but--like the Celsius that I also have a review on--it runs small. Do not get your regular size, unless you're lucky you will be sending it back. I love the gear and will continue to buy and use it but the sizing is off by 1. L is XL, XL is XXL. The lousy part about the exchange I needed to make was they ran out of the size up I needed until next year so I had to hunt one down elsewhere. Sitka's customer service is good, products are great, sizing is definitely off. Get the next one up, especially for layering.

The most versatile cool to cold weather jacket for the whitetail hunter. It is quiet and comfortable. I am 6'5" about 215 lbs and the XL fits great. I like the removable hood and the pockets are great. It has taken me through an entire season from hunting the southeast into Iowa in November.

I haven't been able to use it yet on a hunt this year because the season hasn't started. I got the new GORE OPTIFADE Elevated II for my birthday. I am very excited for this year. Lots of hunts on scheduled, bucks on camera, and stands going up. The entire gear outfit is very comfortable, flexible and very silent. This year will be a very good hunting season with the new gear.

This piece with the pants is the most versatile system in the whitetail line up. Warm, functional and not too bulky to interfere with drawing a bow. Highly recommend!

Been looking at this jacket for quite sometime now. Just wanted it to wear in the cold and windy ND temps. Saw it on sale at Scheels for %20 off. Got it for $239! A steal for this fine jacket. Its now my go to winter jacket. Love the pattern and it cuts out all wind and stays quite warm with a sweatshirt underneath, its perfect! Only thing is they run small. I usually wear a Mens MD/LG, but with this one and how i wear bulky sweatshirts, I needed an XL. Very sylish and women can wear them too!
Justin | 02. 10. 18
very light but warm. Windproof which makes all the difference in staying warm. I found the XL to be large in the shoulder and stomach area but good for layering under with the Celsius or down jacket.

The best jacket I’ve gotten! I wore it during late season when it was -4 out! I stayed warm for 8 hours. If you dress warm underneath you’ll be able to hunt in any weather.

I've used this jacket and pants in two instances where it really shined. The first was on a 35 degree day with 15 to 20 mph winds, wind chill of 22. I had core light and fanatic hoodie for upper. Core light and core heavy for bottom in both instances. I wasn't exactly comfortable but def. bareable. The suit worked great I was impressed. The other time, the temp was 37 degrees with gusts up to 15mph or so and moderate rain and this is where I was most impressed. I stayed dry and warm. I would not recommend going below 20 degrees with this setup. Most versatile piece sitka has produced period. Kudos.

For anyone who is unsure if this will provide enough warmth and wind protection here is your answer. I wore this in Western PA on Halloween this year. Wind chill of 26, Winds 10-15 directly in my face and I was hunting an open ladder stand. With merino base layers I was able to sit out 6-8 hours with no issues at all. I went with no insulating layer underneath mainly to test the limits of the Stratus set. Very pleased with the performance and it even allowed me to harvest a nice buck slipping through around mid-day. My go-to set for hunting western PA and eastern NC

Great athletic cut and very comfortable jacket. Jacket is usually fairly quiet however I have noticed in colder weather, i.e. last week of archery in northern PA when it stayed below 35 degrees, the jacket was noticeably louder with any movement.

Used the stratus jacket and pants for the first time while bowhunting in Western NY. Morning temps at sunrise were 34 degrees with 10-20 mph winds. High was 38 that day. Sat from dark to dark without getting cold with only core heavyweight top and bottom on underneath (fanatic gloves, stratus hat and neck gaiter). You really do not feel the wind with the gore wind blocker built in. Any colder would require heavier layering or I’d break out the incinerator. Great piece of gear for the mid season. Very happy with the product. Quiet and comfortable. The wind stopper won me over when deciding between the stratus and fanatic lite.

My 1# Georgia jacket went it’s 50,40,30 degrees , I’ve got pants too.. Sitka thanks

Decided to put the Stratus jacket to the test. On a clear winter day (-11F), we began a snowmobile trek across a frozen Northern Ontario lake. Wore a compression long sleeve shirt as base layer, under a Traverse Hoody and finally the Stratus. We were running the snowmachines at 60mph on average. The jacket performed flawlessly, never felt any wind penetration, or cold for that matter. In fact, it was actuall warmer than my usual floatation suit I usually wear. Cant wait to use the Stratus during deer hunt next fall. Highly recommended

Just received this jacket for Christmas. It's like wearing sweatpants to be honest. Great for mid 60's (no layering) to upper 20's (heavy layering). Now I live and hunt in Alabama where we don't have very cold winters but very humid (50-75%) which make it worse. I layer this with the shacket and long johns and/or wool shirt and I'm good till 20's. Only advice I give is to order a size larger if you plan on layer to your own preferences because their clothes are "athletic fit" so little room if you order true size.
Casey | 01. 01. 17
Fantastic. Wore it today in 35 degree weather with core midweight and fanatic hoodie underneath. Warm, comfortable, and no bulk for my bow. Awesome.

I'm writing this review from my treestand, late season on a 35 degree day in South Georgia. Winds ranging from 15-20 mph. I received the Stratus jacket as a Christmas gift. This is the most comfortable I've been all season. I Love that the Stratus jacket isn't big and bulky but still keeps me warm. The majority of the year I've felt like the little brother from the movie "A Christmas Story" I Can't Put My Arms Down. Trying to stay warm with inferior products is a thing of the past for me. I love Sitka Gear and will never wear anything different.

Great jacket! The wind stopper tech is perfect for Michigan hunts all season long! I've never been a big fan of hoods on my outer layers, but this hood makes a difference on windy days! Paired with the pants and hoodie, it's all I need!
Bill lehman | 11. 29. 16
After hunting in the stratus jacket and pants for 1 season I have to say this is the most valuable set of hunting clothing I own. By far the best most versitile hunting clothes. It works from 60 degree days down to days in the 30s. Love it!!!
Ryan | 10. 23. 16
This is a great jacket! Super versatile. I can't believe how light yet warm this coat is. I highly recommend this jacket.
Jeremy | 10. 03. 16
The Stratus set is by the most versatile set of clothing I have for whitetail. It is perfect for those mid season sits and can take you well into the late season with proper layering. The Wind Stopper feature makes this a very reliable set of clothing. Don't hit the woods without it.
Kirk | 09. 05. 16
Perfect for mid season stand hunts. Can't say enough about the stratus series. Paired with the stratus pants, you're going to go well into the beginning of late season. I personally don't care for the hood, so it's awesome to have the option to remove that if needed/wanted. Very little bulk with unbelievable warmth for the weight of the garment. Worth every penny!
David Ingle | 07. 12. 16
Easily the most versatile piece of clothing I use. I can use this throughout the whole season in Iowa with different layers underneath. Typically stays in my pack until late October/early November. Then once the November cold sets in, I tinker with my base and mid layers to get to a comfortable body temperature. Super light and packable as well. Would defiantly recommend to someone who will spend October and November in a tree stand but if you don't head to the blind with a heater on cold December and January days, you might want to go to the fanatic or incinerator lines. Must have piece for anyone's system.
Jared S | 05. 19. 16
Wonderful jacket!!! Purchased as an all season use and it performed above expectations. Paired with some decent under layers it kept me warm throughout the whole season. Even with the freezing north winds that whip across the North Dakota landscape. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to invest in a good all season jacket. Or system for that matter.
Coty S. | 03. 02. 16
This is an amazing jacket. It is light weight, yet extremely warm for the weight. The hood is cut perfect for the ability to keep good peripheral vision while keeping the hood up. Good stuff.
Al | 11. 29. 15
The Stratus line is one of the most comfortable and flexible jackets I own. For me here in the mid-west it fits the bill from early season through much of the season. It's a great bow hunting jacket. Temperature regulation is amazing. You can pair this will a multitude of undergarments to hit the temp range you are hunting in. Another must have in the hunter's arsenal of clothing!
Chris Mullane | 11. 19. 15
Excellent!!!!! Just got mine in. I am about 5'8" and 155 and the large fit balls on with a thin shirt underneath but i love to wear a quarter zip under it so i sized up and went with the XL in the jacket and pants i have a L and they fit perfectly im about a 32-33 inch waist. So always size up when you can. Took it out in 40 degree weather and i had some merino base layers and i was warm and comfortable the whole morning. Its very well cut for a bowhunter and is comfortable to layer under and it traps the heat real well. I picked this over the fanatic because i have a ton of money invested in base layers and didn't need the extra warmth so it was a great investment for me. Very pleased and highly recommend for a late season to mid season bowhunter dream jacket.

After a quick call to Sitka, I purchased the Stratus system (jacket and pants). As with all Stika products this system is of utmost quality both fit and function! Extremely quite and extremely warm. It really doesn't get any better for the whitetail hunter. One thing to note is be mindful of the layers. This system keeps you very warm and when temps go up past mid 40s you will be shedding some layers of you start out to heavy. One suggestion would be doing away with one of the zippered chest pockets and adding the 'range finder' pocket like the Equinox jacket(which I have as well).
Robert Rogers | 11. 10. 15
The Stratus system is light weight, warm, quiet and fits nicely. It performed perfectly during the cold morning hunts in the east and mid-west, without all the bulk you may find in other products. Stratus has quickly become my favorite when headed out to the stand.
