Great, I bought the stratus jacket, pants , and beanie to wear in the weather between the early season and fanatic system. The only thing I wish was if the jacket was a little roomier on the medium size. the jacket is athletic cut so not enough room to wear over my fanatic hoody. But other than that the hat, jacket , and pants are great and wind proof. Kept me in the stand with only a Mid weight top and bottom thermal on underneath. Wind was 10+ mph and 42 degrees and I was warm and able to shoot a doe. Def recommend and happy with the purchase!

The Stratus line is well... da bomb! I’m 5’9, 190lbs and went with XL in the jacket and the bibs a large. I was looking for a versatile system…I hunt in Northern Wisconsin temps vary from 80°F~ish early season to well below zero into late season. The Stratus was the right choice for my setup…with proper layering as the temps dip, it’s easy to make it comfortably through an all day sit & harvest! In extremely cold temps, I throw a Fanatic Vest over it and you're good to go!

One of my favorite Sitka gear items, without a doubt. Can't lose with this one. I'm 6ft, 215lbs and the XL fits me great. I love that the hood has squares that allow for better hearing. When a bird gets flushed, the two chest pockets are very useful. Thanks for this one, Sitka!

The Stratus jacket and pant are solid. Excellent wind protection. Doesn't get too cold where I hunt so I've only been down to the 40's and with a couple layers they were warm. If you plan on walking through cockleburs or similar expect to get a lot of hitchhikers. The material these are made from allow a lot of prickly things to stick to it. I am 5'10" and 160lbs and normally wear a 31 or 32" pant in jeans and ordered a medium. They are just on the edge of being too tight but I think a large would've been too big. I initially ordered a large jacket and it fit but had a lot of excess room in the waist and chest so I ordered a medium and it fits perfect. If you want a loose fit, I would order a large. My only complaint with all Sitka jackets is that they don't come down far enough in the front below the waist. Not a deal breaker but I'd like an extra inch in the front.

I bought the Stratus system (jacket, pants) for the whitetail season. The previous seasons, I always had difficulty staying warm in 40’s/50’s with a north wind. I set out to find a product that would cut the wind to help extend my stand sits. The Stratus system is hands down a game changer. Cuts wind and when layered appropriately can get you down into the upper 30’s. The fit is comfortable and athletic to help reduce bulk. Once again, Sitka provides the hunter an excellent, functional, realistic product that gets the job done.

I prefer the most versatile options in my laying system and this jacket is perfect for that. I've worn these paired with the Core Lightweight Hoody in the 50s and the Core Lightweight Hoody, Fanatic Hoody, and Stratus Jacket in the 30's. If going any colder I go Fanatic Hoody, Celsius Midi and Stratus Jacket for 20's. When paired with the Stratus Bibs, you get more core heat and less chance of wind up the back. I wear a size XL and all my components are the same size. Definitely not bulky nor too tight. I am primarily a compound bow hunter and the system is great. The added safety of the harness pass through is nice for those late day sits where you want to add a layer when you are up in your stand. If you are primarily a 20/30°F stand hunter you might want to look at the Fanatic Jacket for the benefit of the pockets on the front to keep your hands warm, otherwise the above setup will serve you well.

I couldn’t even tell that the wind was hitting me. All I had on was a Sitka t-shirt and the Stratus Jacket and I was SUPER warm. I am 5’10” and 165lbs. I got a large and it fits me very well. It looks good with only a t-shirt on but still fits great with a mid layer puffy coat. I could not say anything bad about this jacket and it is worth the money.

Great on cooler windy days even in rain, but this will need layering to go into cooler temperatures (Sub 50°F). I also use the Stratus during early season September in areas with heavy mosquitos keeping other hunters out of prime whitetail hotspots. Jacket so far is rather durable. Plenty of deep pockets gives you room to store anything you need. A feature I now REALLY dislike after using the Stratus for 2 seasons is the snaps securing the hood. A moderate tug, snag, or backpack pressured head turn is all you need for it to pop off multiple light duty snaps. I will need to modify this to stop it from happening. I saddle hunt and usually one stick so this may be a demand placed on the jacket that others might not experience. One other experience is the elastic waist cinch downs can pop out of the areas they are secured in the pockets. All said and done it gets the job done for what I purchased it for and I'm sure it will work for you too.

Guys this Jacket works as intended. I live in South Bristol NY right by Bristol Mountain Ski Resort. I use the fanatic hoodie and the lightweight long sleeve mid weight top to layer in, and this jacket is good for sitting at anything over 30 degrees. This jacket was made with the bow hunter in mind. I am 5'7" and weight 190 and the large fits just perfect. I sat in some soaking rains and some good snow falls and this thing kept me warm and dry but with breathability built in. I love the snug fit and how everything from head to toe on it was built with a function. The hood has this awesome system built in to help you hear all around you with it fully pulled over your head. I will say the jacket is a lil warm for spot and stalk and if it was 35 or warmer walking in I packed it in for the most part. That being said, It packs very easily and can be put in an extremely small pack. I usually sit in my stands for at least 4 hours and love how quiet the jacket is. Having the ability to grab my bow and draw back silently is a blessing this jacket will give you consistently.

My wife had given me the Status jacket, pant and Celsius midi for Christmas this year and I had a chance to field test it on a bow hunt the day after. In my new gear, a couple light layers, the quietness and warmth was amazing with a temperature of 18° at sunrise! Skylighted, the Elevated camouflage kept me concealed for a 20 yard shot on this successful hunt.

I’ve owned a lot of warm clothing over the years that were half or even a quarter of the cost of Sitka gear but had less than stellar results. If I could give advise to a new hunter, invest in good clothing, you’ll be in the woods on cold late season days when others are home sitting around their fireplace.

Once a skeptic now a believer, thanks Sitka...

Used for big game hunting in MT where blade is required. Jacket works great in the wind. Had only 2 minimal wicking layers on when using in the 20 degree range and was great. Used all rifle season and even as a side trip to hint upland birds where orange is required. Very useful overall. Only 4 stars for below reasons.

Vertical Hand Warner pockets are nice but really need to be slanted or horizontal. Kept losing shells and other stashed items out of them. Poor design to keep anything in and know it is secure.

Hood snaps are not hard enough to get off the hood comes off with very little resistance. Very irritating and a pain to put back on when in use. What’s wrong with a real fixed hood or one the is much more difficult to get of. When going through trees in pursuit of a critter is NOT when you find out the hood design stinks. Bummed it is this poor.

I will continue to use the jacket for cost I paid and overall satisfaction with wind stop but might somehow modify/rivet/ glue the snaps with loctite of the hood on permanently.

Overall a really solid jacket, very high quality finish and feel and blocks wind very well. It is worth noting that this jacket is more of a shell and you will need good layers 35* and below. Gave it 3 stars because I am not a fan of a few things. The collar/neck harness does not work well. Its very finicky trying to get it to slide perfect (pain in the butt in trying in the dark) and the hood buttons come loose easily causing the hood to flop off to one side, also a pain to get the thing buttoned back up. The grunt tube holder on the shoulder needs to be tighter!! My call falls out every time which is a big bummer for a whitetail hunter in the last half hour of a hunt. Would be a 5 star jacket worth every penny but when you pay top dollar I’d expect it to be about perfect

The material is surprisingly quiet and comfortable and doesn’t restrict movement at all. Definitely worth the money. The only improvement for the pattern (in my opinion) is less white and more brown but it’s not stopping me from wearing or buying more. 5/5, very happy with my purchase.

Hey all, wanted to write a review as this is alot to spend on a jacket and I struggled since there were so few reviews online. I must say, I love this jacket for multiple reasons but can not give it 5 stars based on design. For quietness, lightweight, wind resistance and warmth - this jacket excels. I just returned from a WY elk hunt and this was the only outer layer I wore for five days. One day it was mid-twenties, blowing hard, snowing sideways, etc. I had on a merino base-layer, a midweight quarter zip and this jacket. My guide kept asking if I was cold, not one bit, we glassed for hours and I was never cold. This jacket was designed as a whitetail jacked and has a unique collar arrangement that is supposed to allow a safety harness to pass through, some kind of magnet attached. For the love of all things holy, put a normal collar on this jacket and a slit in mid back like every other hunting clothing manufacturer. The collar on this jacked never lays right and is never comfortable - design fail. Not enough to keep me away from the jacket, but be warned. I would have preferred the Jetstream for my application, but the Stratus is cut larger (standard fit) for us folks that do not have a flat belly. Bottom line, if you need warm and windproof, and have love handles - this might be your jacket.

For it's weight, this jacket is incredibly warm. I had it on while I was doing 60mph on my four wheeler in 40 degrees the other day with a hoodie underneath and I didn't get a chill at all. Not even a hint of wind got through it. Fit is great, although the large is a little short on the torso. I own two of these jackets and prefer the large tall when I have more than just base layers underneath. (I'm 6' 180 for reference) All in all, this is an amazing jacket and is my most used outer layer in the whitetail line that I own. Only small complaint I have is I wish they would have kept the zip off hood on the new version instead of using snap buttons. They did this for the pass through system for safety harnesses, but I use a rock climbing harness so it really does nothing for me. This small thing wasn't even enough for me to take off a star because this jacket is that nice. Buy it and you'll be glad you did!

Wanted to get some good quality hunting gear for the season. Last week started my bow hunt, it was windy for a couple days straight and this jacket did not block the wind at all like it is supposed to do. Very disappointed as that is the only reason I went for the expensive stratus 'windstopper' in the first place. Not happy.

I bought for this for CO elk hunting as well as midwest deer hunting. I purchased the Large and it fits a little larger than the Sitka Mountain Jacket which is perfect as I can layer up on colder days. Quiet, warm can't wait to use this season.

Received mine in the mail and is so comfortable lightweight that I know I'll be able to stand in the stand for hours on end and not get cold. So happy with the jacket
6'1" 260 and the 2 xl fits perfect! So happy I bought it along with the Stratus pants and base layers.

A few nice upgrades on the 2020 version of this jacket but they don’t tell you that they reduced the size of the front pockets. Previous versions of the front pockets almost reached around To the kidneys allowing for handwarmers or large items.

Love the new design, this is most definitely the best Sitka piece to have for an outer layer for whitetail hunting. Perfect for Virginia cold season where you just never know how cold and windy it’s gonna get. I’m 6’3” and 300 lbs stalky broad build and the 3XL fits your effect and allows perfect for layering with the Celsius midi jacket and fanatic hoody under neath.

The Confluence: Identifying Key Funnels for Whitetails

The primary needs for a whitetail: food, water, shelter, and communication - often come together in places that are commonly referred to as funnels. Funnels are also known as transition areas, travel corridors, bottlenecks, and pinch points. By using maps and applying real-world experience through scouting, you can pinpoint these funnels by identifying the following terrain.
