It is an awesome Hoody, but like all the other complaints, I really wish it had a draw sting. (That is one thing that frustrates me about Sitka, for all the things they do right, stuff like this, not putting a draw string in a $250 hoody?) So that makes it fit weird, I really should wear an XL, BUT it’s so baggie at the bottom I traded it for a large, which is a hair small, but not bad, just wish they’d put in a draw string. Definitely like the hoodie, I wear it all the time, just saying...

Good jacket with awesome quality. The hood is great and keeps the wind out. Front pocket will keep your hands warm when you don’t have gloves. One thing I really wish this jacket had was some sort of draw string system at the bottom because it does balloon out and wind gets between you and the jacket. Over all I am pleased, as this was my first Sitka product.

Flawless beside the fact that the bottom is really wide. Wish it had a draw string to tighten up around the waist. I am actually having a tailor put one in.

I wanted this hoody so bad!! The quality was amazing but the fit was terrible. I had to send it back. I am 6’1” 190lbs and I wear a large in all clothes. I read a lot of reviews that said it fits a little small so if you plan to layer order a size up. I got an XL and the chest and back fit perfect but the sleeves were about 1” too short and the bottom of the hoody was like a dress or parachute. There is no draw string in the bottom or I could have made it work. But for $250 you shouldn’t have to “make it work”. I would like to see Sitka offer long or tall sizes. I sent it back and ordered the Fahrenheit jacket, fingers crossed it fits better or I will have to find another brand. I wanted to keep it so bad! The quality was wonderful it just didn’t fit my tall/thin body type. Good luck guys!

I received mine this past week. I wore it out scouting today. I walked a good bit and was quickly reaching to unzip to cool off. The hood is pretty nice also, although I didn't have a need today. The only downfall is I personally wished it had a pull string to tighten close to your waste to keep the hoodie tucked down into your waders with out rising up. Other then that so far so good! I cant wait to put it to the cold weather test

Hands down my favorite piece of Sitka gear. I wear it for everything from wildlife photography, to waterfowl hunting, to predator hunting to open and hard water fishing. It is comfortable, stops wind, and warm. Sturgeon fishing last spring on Rainy river and I wore that with 2 base layers and a pair of bibs and was fine with windchills in the teens. My fishing partner wore icefishing bibs and parka and was miserable.

This Dakota hood is very warm. I've worn it about 3-4 times when it was about 8 degrees. I have never gotten cold in this thing. I think is is a must have for all hunters.

If you can only afford to buy one Sitka waterfowling product, this is it. It is warm, tough, versatile, and worth its price. You may need a size up. I'm 5'10" 175lbs and I needed an XL. Other than that, it is perfect. I was literally sad when I had to put it away at the end of the season.

I would rather forget my gun and calls than this Hoody. Most guys hate to wear bulky clothing as it hinders shouldering your gun. This is light weight, non bulky and WARM. I have been in snow and rain and it has kept me dry. Just add to cart and you will be happy.

An absolute must for serious waterfowl hunters! This is my second season with this hoody and I think it is the best product for waterfowl hunters to have in their arsenal. It is not considered water proof but I have had it in some of the worst conditions and never gotten wet. I have worn this in extreme conditions and it does not rip or tear at all since i have had it. If you are looking for an excellent product for waterfowl season then this is for you!!

A very warm and comfy piece. I wear it in the boat and in the field. This would be perfect it it were made with a drawstring around the waist. That's my only complaint.

Great product, wind does not stand a chance against this jacket! Very warm and comfortable. If you're looking at this jacket keep in mind the sleeve and waist length is a bit short. I am 5'9 and weigh 135 pounds, normally wear mediums but had to go a size up to accommodate for the shortness. Minus that small issue this a 10/10 jacket!

A lot of days hunting this is the only insulation piece I'll wear, it's light enough to wear under waders, and the wind proofing and fleece makes this hoody really warm.

The Dakota Hoody is an awesome product. It's functional, warm, windproof, mostly waterproof in light precipitation, and made of awesome material. However, I regretfully will be selling mine. I have a XL and I'm 6'3" and 230lbs, athletic build, everything is fine with the exception of the sleeve length, tightness across the back and in the armpits. I could probably fix this issue by sizing up to the XXL. So, would I recommend it?Absolutely, but make sure you sure you try it on first or size up if in doubt. Happy hunting!

This is a must have item! I have 2, just in case one gets completely soaked from wading too deep or falling in the water. I hunt ducks from Saskatchewan to Louisiana and this is one of the best products made period. I have also used it for turkey hunting and once again perfect. I mostly hunt ducks in Arkansas and I have worn it every day and when the weather finally drops out of site, I merely add the Kelvin jacket under it and have no problem staying warm. Add a Sitka neck gaiter and you are not getting cold. I have lots of Sitka Gear and this is a favorite of mine.

Used this hoodie for the whole second half of the waterfowl season. I gave it 3 stars because honstely didn't love the way it felt on my body and was kind of constricting in the sleeves while swinging on birds. I'm a large in every other brand so I ordered a large in the hoodie and I think it may be a tad too tight on me. Wish I would or grabbed an XL. Also the zipper seems to always pinch my beard hairs. Other than that, it's a well constructed hoodie and keeps me pretty warm !! But honestly not my favorite Sitka item I own.

I wore my Dakota Hoody almost everyday in the field, and it the perfect jacket in my eyes. It's warm and windproof, and although it's not "waterproof" it kept me dry in all of the wet conditions I hunted this season. I couldn't imagine not having this in my line up!

I ordered my Dakota hoodie after our waterfowl season was over hear in MN. I was sick and tired of being cold and having the wind blow right through my high priced ineffective Drake products. Although I haven't hit the field or blind with my new hoodie I was able to give it a great test run Christmas Day. Here in the Minneapolis area it rained about 1-1/2 inches and the wind was whipping up to 30mph. I wore my hoodie as I took my hunting partner Waylon for a walk. The Gore windstopper worked flawlessly and the piece shed the rain as well. Our walk was for about an hour and a half. No wet clothes underneath my hoodie. All in all I'm really impressed and can't wait to get in the kill zone with this piece. The only drawback I could say about the hoodie is the arm holes from the torso portion of the hoodie. I'm 6' 235lb with an athletic build. There is just a slight tightness on my shoulders and my biceps when moving my arms with a base and mid layer underneath. I ordered a 2XL. A drawstring as mentioned before would be a great addition. Now Sitka needs to get their Optifade pattern out in a line of Sitka waders. Great piece over all, highly recommend!

I give it 3 stars because the material (inside and out) look and fell awesome. Size Alert!! I'm 6'2, 210 lbs. I wear virtually an XL in everything, including most Sitka products. However, if you want to minimally layer under this garment, order a size up. Sitka runs pretty true to size on base layer or next to skin stuff, but a little small once you get to coats an jackets, at least in my experience.

I love my hoodie for windy days, wind is not a factor. Besides being an avid hunter, I am a fishing guide off OBX and AK. I love the hood because it keeps my hat on my head as I'm mobbing around, never have to worry about it coming off. The hand muff is awesome, perfect for thawing out my hands. Extremely water repellent, I've been in unexpected downpour and come out completely dry. My only complaint with Sitka, is the sleeve length. Being a taller guy I have an inch or two of wrist that are not covered. Not a problem with this jacket but it is a factor that has held me back from getting their wading jacket. If I was to layer up, the water sealing cuffs would be ineffective because I would have other jackets poking out. Crossing my fingers that they make their sleeves longer or come out with a tall option.

Amazing product! Let's start with the ONLY negative I have found in this hoodie....and it actually has to do with one of my favorite features, the hand warmer pocket. First of this pocket is amazing. Warms your hands extremely well and is just flat out comfortable to put your hands into, also isn't a bad place to put some extra shells. The only down side is when your hands are wet, it seeps through to the inside of the jacket making your stomach damp. If Sitka put a layer of windstopper on the back side of the pocket to keep water from leaking through the pocket, I literally wouldn't have a single complaint about it. Positives: -Warm -Comfortable -Great fit -AMAZING hand warmer pocket (just wish it has a water resistant backing) -The 1/2 zip is really nice for comfort, cooling, and casual wear This has turned into my favorite piece of clothing. I've been a die hard Simms guy and I like this hoodie even more than my Simms fishing jackets and that's saying a lot! With a water resistant backing on the hand warmer pocket this thing wouldn't even be on the rated scale.

I ordered this hoodie after our early waterfowl season. I have not worn it in the field as of yet but have been wearing almost daily as a jacket. Our temps here in Maine have been averaging around 35-45F for a few weeks now with wind and light cold rain. This hoodie has kept me dry and warm thus far. I cannot wait to try it out in the field once deer season ends and I get back to bustin beaks! Love the big front fleece lined pocket and the hood which does not obstruct view. Well done! I would like to see a magnetic close pocket for tucking away call when not in use but is a very minor detail. I liked this hoodie so much that I just ordered a Traverse Cold Weather Hoodie for everyday wear for the winter.

Love this hoody! With a merino base and that hoody you can easily take 15 to 30 degree temps. When picking up decoys, or wading, you sweat. This system wicks the moisture keeps you WARM. I had to keep it unzipped to let heat out. I don't wear gloves to shoot so the fleece pockets are appreciated.

Love this coat, wear it everywhere. Keeps me warm right down into them 30-40 degree days with just a long sleeve tee under it. Matched with the Dakota vest and u could go colder. Perfect fit for me at 5'10" and 220. I'm planing on a timber next.

I've had this jacket for over a year. It's a nice coat for temps between 50-60 degrees but it's missing a waist cinch. The stomach area seems disproportionately large to the chest and arms. I'm 6'4", 200 lbs, and the large was too small. The XL fits better, but it's too baggy in the lower half and can't be tightened. This coat also needs another exterior chest pocket (preferably a pocket that can hold several shells, maybe even with elastic loops to keep a few at the ready).

I enjoy this piece for cool mornings, or as a layer for the late season. Fit is solid, I am 5'10, 200 lbs and the XL fits appropriate. This jacket would be greatly improved with adjustable cuffs and a drawstring in the waist.

First of all, I love the new timber pattern! One of the my favorite features of the jacket is the hood! It fits great and can be adjusted so when you're hunting the hood doesn't block your view. Also I love the big front pocket! The fleece was a nice touch to help warm up your hands. I'm ready to see how well it hold up in the rain!

It's starting to cool down and this jacket/hoody is filling the void between the early season and the really frigid temps. Great DWR water resistance. Great at cutting the wind. Sweet, unobstructed hood. Nice high collar that goes all the way around your neck, almost like a built in gaiter. If I could offer some constructive criticism: I'd like to have seen a drawstring at the bottom like the Duck Oven; it can get drafty with the right wind angle. I have a larger chest with a skinny waist and the bottom feels cut a bit large without a drawstring. Otherwise a really great piece that's well made and really feels like my old favorite hoody! I'm 5'11'' and 175lbs and I got a large and and am happy with it. Hopefully this is a helpful review. You won't regret purchasing this piece.

Great piece that is versatile in many ways. Kangaroo pocket is so warm it will keep your hands warm on the coolest of days. Adding the zipper to the kangaroo pocket will keep you from losing anything you put in it. The low profile hood doesn't get in the way of your vision. Thanks Sitka for making another wonderful piece.

Great product! Comfortable, warm, great fit, keeps the wind out and is amazingly dry for not being marketed as waterproof. I have stood in the swamp during a steady rain for hours and the inside was still dry when I took it off. I am 6' and about 215 and wear XL in about everything and the XL in this hoody fits great. I have worn this hoody in temps ranging from the high 40's with minimal layers underneath, to the low 20's with a few heavy layers underneath and been very comfortable. If you are looking for one product to get you through a big chunk of the season this one will do it.

Lightweight and windproof. It's not sold as rain gear, but it sheds water remarkably well, too. The pocket isn't just a great hand warmer, the zippers secure things in it as well. the only thing that I think could be improved would maybe be the hood. but all around this is a great product and worth what you pay for.

Very disappointed with this hoody. The quality is nice, as usual. But the fit is terrible. The sleeve cuffs need a Velcro strap. Not having the ability to adjust the tightness on a sleeve is aggravating. A draw cord is also needed around that waste…too baggy. I ordered a Large and I’m 6’1”, 195, and it’s way too big around the torso and waste, but the shoulders and armpits fit well - if not a little too tight. There’s no way any size in this hoody will work for me.

The kangaroo pocket isn't just a great hand warmer, the zippers secure things in it as well. I recently wore it in the bow of a small boat pounding through rough water at 30 knots. I bought this following a buddy who liked this. I bought a large and I am 5'9" and 175 lbs. it fit me perfectly. The sleeves all plenty range of movement and don't slide over the wrists. the fleece is thick throughout the hoodie. The half zip is really nice for quick on and off. It also allows for a better fitting hoodie. My favorite feature is the hood itself. It fits tight and allows you to turn your head without taking away peripheral vision.

I was really looking forward to this hoody but nothing on it plain works. Vary limited stretch, no draw sinch cord or elastic band topped with a extremely baggy bottom the windstoppers worthless unless stuffed in waders. Make this jacket better with more stretch in the arms for drawing and with a less baggier fit. Personally that thick barber fleece should be put through the hole jacket. The chest pocket and the full zipper not really needed in my opinion. I would also preffered but not a deal breaker thumb loops. Not a win for Sitka or space in my closet sadly.
