Five individuals in each category (Big Game, Whitetail, Waterfowl) will be chosen as the 15 Finalists by the #DIVERGE8 Judges beginning January 6, 2020. A People’s Choice Winner encompassing entries from all categories will be chosen from the 15 Finalists by public online voting.
Voting will run from January 6, 2020 to January 14, 2020. On or around January 14, 2020, we will announce the 3 Category Winners, which will be selected from the 15 Finalists by the #DIVERGE8 Judges.

Part of SITKA's core is high-quality imagery that genuinely portrays hunting. Steven Drake has been a part of that core since its beginning. He's consistently pushed the envelope in hunting photography and inspired thousands to adopt photography in their own hunts. As your typical ectomorph, he's not known for his muscle mass but is well known for hauling crippling loads up huge faces without batting an eye. Steven has carried his loaded pack and camera gear all over the world, chasing hunters with multiple camera bodies in inhospitable conditions. Physically and mentally, his eye is glued to the viewfinder. He lives for it. His dedication and grit are not confined to his career as a photographer. On his personal hunts, he charges and keeps his camera gear in tow. All things considered, it's no surprise his slogan is "persistence is deadly."
If you’ve had your eye on this industry, you’ve probably been exposed to Brad’s work without knowing it. He’s orchestrated strong branding efforts for companies like Mathews Archery, and is now Brand and Creative Leader here at SITKA Gear. What makes Brad special is his instinct; he has a deep strength in identifying the real, and can spot a story’s subtle strengths and weaknesses from a mile away. We’re stoked to have Brad, not only in judging this contest, but as the creative leader of all that SITKA presents to you.
Born and raised in the midwest, Matt grew up cutting his teeth on flocks of wary waterfowl, striving to perfect his presentation and calling. This pursuit eventually pulled Matt to competitive calling, where his appetite for perfection resulted in success in regional competitions. In 2013, Matt made a move west to Montana where he began to build his skills in hunting photography. He was among the first in the waterfowl space to create high-quality imagery with an original photographic eye. His work has made a splash in the industry, being featured in numerous online and print hunting publications. We’re stoked to have Matt’s keen photographic sense on the jury panel, and can’t wait to see the contribution he brings to the discussion as a fanatic waterfowler.
The origin of Jay’s photography was a 6-month rock climbing trip. His wife bought a camera to document the trip, and according to Jay, “By the end of the trip, the camera was mine and I carried it on every adventure after.” Jay’s niche, is to not have a niche but still crush it. He brings wide diversity in his photography. From skiing big lines to trail running, surfing to packing out a Dall ram in Alaska, he is consistently snapping shots of action sports and the outdoors. Now, his work can be seen in Powder and Backcountry magazines, and with clients like Patagonia and YETI.
Adam Foss is a world-class hunter who has transformed his passion for wildlife and wild places into a rewarding career in filmmaking and photography. Adam has been obsessed with wilderness adventure for practically his entire life. At age 24, he was the youngest person to take all four species of North American sheep with a bow, an amazing achievement for a hunter of any age. But despite this accomplishment and others, Adam is much more focused on the process of the hunt—spending challenging days in the mountains, forming long-lasting friendships, stewarding public lands, and conserving legendary big game species. Born in the Canadian Rockies, Adam spent much of his youth bow hunting with his father and older brother. As he grew older, his hunting trips expanded in geography and complexity, and he has now hunted many of the world’s wildest places for some of the most renowned big game.
Born and raised in the Show-Me state, Austin’s story isn’t the “industry standard”. There is no hunting stories with grandpa or deer camp with the family but merely a defined passion for authentic imagery that involves the real and rawness of the process in each hunt. While the camera shutter and record button has taken Austin all over North America documenting hunts, his value’s lie deep in the heartland and his passion is whitetails. “You’re not hiking and climbing mountains in this landscape, but the need to think outside the box and tell the process of a whitetail fanatic is what drives me.”
No purchase necessary to enter. Purchase will not improve chances of winning. This Promotion is open to all legal residents of the 50 United States, D.C., and Canada who are at least eighteen (18) years old at time of entry, except employees of Sponsor, its affiliated companies, subsidiaries, dealers, sales representatives, distributors, advertising agencies, promotional and prize suppliers and the immediate families and household members of each. This Promotion shall only be construed and evaluated according to applicable state and federal law. Void outside the fifty (50) United States, D.C., and Canada, and where prohibited. Residents of Quebec are not eligible to participate. ODDS OF WINNING: Odds of winning depend on the number and quality of eligible entries received during the Promotion Period.
To be declared a winner, any Canadian resident selected as a potential winner will be required to correctly answer without assistance of any kind, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question. The question will be administered by telephone or email at a mutually convenient time.
2. HOW TO ENTER
To enter the SITKA® //Diverge// Photo Contest: During the Submission Period, upload your photo to the SITKA Diverge entry page at https://www.sitkagear.com/diverge from your computer or mobile device. Photos may also be submitted via Instagram by tagging @SITKAGear and using the hashtage "#Diverge8". The Submission Period begins September 3, 2019 and ends January 1, 2020. (See photo rules below to make sure your photo will be considered).
All photos must be submitted via the URL or Instagram by the end of the Submission Period in order to be considered.
Photos must not include a competitor's apparel.
By entering, you warrant that the photo you submit is original and is your own, and does not infringe on the rights of any third party. You further warrant that your participation in this photo contest does not violate any agreement between you and a third party.
By entering the photo contest, you grant SITKA® Gear the non-exclusive right to publish, use, distribute, reproduce and publicly display your photograph, and to create derivative works from your photograph, in perpetuity, in any of its online, print or other media publications, materials or exhibitions, for promotional purposes, including but not limited to for editorial, advertising, and publicity, without payment or compensation unless prohibited by law. You grant SITKA® Gear permission to provide your name, and your city and state of residence, when publishing, reproducing or otherwise using your photo and when identifying you as an entrant or prize winner in the photo contest. While SITKA® Gear will make every effort to credit photographers when using photos, there may be circumstances where it is not possible to do so. Subject to the rights granted to SITKA® Gear, you retain all other copyrights and rights to future use of the photographs you enter into the contest.
If your photograph(s) include a recognizable person or people, you must secure permission from each person (or in the case of a minor, the minor's parent or guardian) to use his/her image in the photo contest, and present it to SITKA® Gear, if requested. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify an entry if it finds, in its sole discretion, that an entrant has not secured a necessary release.
Any photos containing offensive content will not be eligible. All content must be appropriate for posting on a website that may be viewed by anyone. Obscene, provocative or otherwise questionable content will not be considered, and will result in disqualification of the photo. SITKA® Gear retains sole discretion to determine what constitutes inappropriate content.
SITKA® Gear reserves the right to modify any photo to fit spatial and branding requirements.
3. JUDGING CRITERIA, VOTING, & WINNER SELECTION
A. Uncommon Images & Photographer Item
75 Uncommon Images will be chosen throughout the Promotion Period to win a Special Edition SITKA® //Diverge// Cap. The selection of these winners will be the sole responsibility of representatives of SITKA® Gear (the “Judges”). They will be selected from all eligible submissions. Entries will be judged on the following criteria - lighting, composition, technical mastery of photographic equipment, emotional impact, artistic quality, originality, and brand representation. The decision of the judges are final and binding.
All submissions will be displayed until 11:59 p.m. on December 31st, 2019 when 15 Finalists will be chosen by the Judges from all eligible submissions and displayed on a new voting page attached to the SITKA® Gear Diverge page, www.sitkagear.com/diverge. The selection of finalists will be at the discretion of the judges. Judges will select finalists on or about January 6, 2020. Entries will be judged on the following criteria - lighting, composition, technical mastery of photographic equipment, emotional impact of the image, artistic quality, originality, brand representation, and fan voting. These Finalists will receive a Special Edition SITKA //Diverge// Cap and $500 in SITKA Gear. The decisions of the judges are final and binding.
C. Selection of the SITKA //Diverge// Photo Contest Winners
The SITKA® //Diverge// Photo Contest category winners will by chosen by Judges voting and the image with the most votes will be recognized as the category winner in Whitetail, Waterfowl, and Big Game. The public will vote on the People's Choice winner. There will only be 1 category winner per category of Whitetail, Waterfowl, and Big Game, as well as one People's Choice winner. The entrants whose photos are selected as the SITKA //Diverge// Photo Contest Winners may have their photo appear in SITKA® GEAR advertisements.

5. WINNER NOTIFICATION / PRIZE RESTRICTIONS
By January 23, 2020, winners will be notified by SITKA® Gear using the e-mail address or phone number they provided with their entry. Prize must be claimed within seven (7) days. To claim a prize, Winner must respond to the prize notification e-mail or phone call/message and may be required to provide proof of identity, address and birth date and/or execute an affidavit of eligibility, liability release and, except where prohibited by law, a publicity release. Prizes not claimed within seven (7) days will be forfeited. Sponsor will select alternate Winners for any unclaimed/forfeited prizes if a sufficient number of eligible and/or qualified entries remain. Any portion of a prize not accepted by winner will be forfeited. If an entrant changes his/her e-mail address or phone number after he/she enters the Contest, or any portion of this Promotion, it is his/her sole responsibility to notify SITKA® Gear by postal mailing notice to the address listed below, to be received by the end of the Promotion Period. Winners are solely responsible for all costs, incidentals, and any other expenses not specifically mentioned as being included in the Prize. All federal, state and local taxes are sole responsibility winner. Prizes may not be returned or exchanged for cash. Prizes may not be transferred or substituted except by Sponsor, who reserves the right to award a substitute prize of equal or greater value.
6. WEB RESTRICTIONS
a. This Promotion is not open to competition associations or automated competition entry services. Any use of such automated devices will cause disqualification. Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual (and his or her Contest entry) who tampers with the entry or voting process. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or suspend this Contest should fraud, virus, bug or other causes beyond the control of Sponsor corrupt the administration, security or proper play of the Contest. Sponsor is not responsible for computer system, phone line, hardware, software or program malfunctions or other errors, failures or delays in computer transmissions or network connections that are human or technical in nature. Proof of entering information on SITKA® Gear’s website is not considered proof of delivery or receipt by SITKA® Gear. SITKA® Gear reserves the right to exclude certain individuals from participating for reasons such as violation of the conditions of participation, duplicate participation, attempted manipulation of the Promotion or its voting processes, and reserves the right to take legal action.
7. GENERAL CONDITIONS
All entrants agree that SITKA® Gear may, without permission or additional compensation, publish, display and otherwise use their name, likeness and submitted materials, if any, for promotional purposes.
Entrants hereby declare that they agree to the collection of all data by Sponsor required for the implementation and administration of this competition and its storage for the entire duration of the competition. The data is stored by Wyng (Wyng.com) . The data will be handled in confidence and not transmitted to a third party. All Entrants have the right to request information about the use of any personal data concerning them. SITKA® Gear undertakes to supply them at any time upon request with full information on the stored data free of charge, if they are the subject of such information. Entrants are simply required to send an e-mail to SITKAdivergecontest@gmail.com. All Entrants are also free to revoke their consent to the use and storage of their personal data by Sponsor, simply by sending an informal e-mail to SITKAdivergecontest@gmail.com. The data can also be rectified in the same way. In case of revocation, the data shall be immediately deleted. The revocation and subsequent deletion will be confirmed by e-mail upon request. Should the revocation intervene prior to the end of the competition, all further participation in the SITKA® //Diverge// Photo Contest is excluded.
This Promotion is not associated with Facebook or Instagram in any way whatsoever and is in no way Sponsored, supported or organized by Facebook or Instagram. Neither Facebook nor Instagram is responsible for any content published within the context of this action. It is not Facebook or Instagram, but SITKA® Gear, who receives the information supplied by Entrants. The data supplied will be used for contact purposes in the event of a winner and for subscription to the SITKA® Gear Dispatch Newsletter as per explicit requests made at the time of registration. Sponsor holds Facebook and Instagram harmless from any recourse by third parties in connection with this Promotion. Any questions, comments or complaints against the action are not to be addressed to Facebook or Instagram, but to Sponsor by writing to hlindsey@SITKAgear.com.
Participation in this Promotion and/or entering the SITKA® //Diverge// Photo Contest is considered a complete release of Facebook and Instagram by each Entrant.
Should any of the stipulations in the conditions of participation be or become invalid, the remaining conditions of participation shall continue to apply with full force and effect. In its place an appropriate provision shall enter into force, corresponding to the closest purpose of the ineffective provision.
SITKA® Gear reserves the right to cancel the SITKA® //Diverge// Photo Contest and Sweepstakes. Such cancellation can occur in situations, but is not limited to these situations, where the smooth running of the competition can no longer be guaranteed for technical or legal reasons.
8. LIMITATION ON LIABILITY
Sponsor shall not be responsible for: (1) misdirected, inaccurate, incomplete, lost, late, delayed, undelivered, damaged or illegible entries, and all such entries will be void; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; or (3) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Contest; or (4) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from Entrant's participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize.
9. GOVERNING LAW
All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of Entrant and Sponsor in connection with the Promotion, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the substantive laws of the State of Delaware without regard to conflicts of law principles. All entrants consent to the jurisdiction and venue of the state of Delaware.
