Why We Made This

In the past, the best way to combat long exposure to extreme cold-weather conditions was to stack layer upon layer, leaving the hunter with a system that was not purpose-built for active pursuits. Our approach was to combine a water-repellent hybrid insulation with a fully waterproof–yet breathable–GORE-TEX® layer of protection, creating a system that’s equipped to confront the world’s most unforgiving conditions.

Why are these not made in a small? Petite female hunters need warmth more than anyone.

I recently went on a spring Brown bear hunt in Alaska. As you know the weather can be quite drastic at time's. I used the Blizzard bibs heavily Along with the parka during the hunt. Crossing streams, rivers, deep snow and hail and rain daily I couldn't have asked for a better way to stay dry. This is a great product that can withstand heavy punishment. Thanks!

I recently tested many Sitka products on my recent hunt for Ibex in Kyrgyzstan. 15 degree mornings at 12,500' found me horseback in the Tien Shan Mountains on the border of China. The Blizzard Bib pants really did the job at these low temps. Comfortable to wear even over jeans to really keep you warm.

The new Blizzard Bib Pant seems well designed and surprisingly light. The only thing I cannot understand about the design is why the bottom of the pants does not provide a mechanism for tightening the fit to minimize air movement between the boot / leg and garment. It seems that with the design of the pant being for maintaining warmth that it should have a built in mechanism to tighten the fit. Am I missing something here?
I think that Sitka is the best hunting gear there is for design and performance. I recommend it to any hunter I meet.

Layering 101 with SITKA Gear Founder, Jonathan Hart

As humans, we are at a genetic and physiological disadvantage to survive in wild places. Yet we’re instinctively drawn to test our mettle against species who have adapted for millennia to thrive in these challenging environments. At SITKA, we build systems to level the playing field with wild animals in their domain; giving hunters the ability to adapt to the rapidly-changing conditions encountered in the wild.
