Great Concept, Poor Construction

I ordered this equinox guard hoody while it was on sale. I was skeptical of the Insect Shield concept, but figured I get ahold of one in preparation for spring bear and turkey season. I was so disappointed in the construction and materials chosen for the garment (feels like cheap stretchy knock-off Under Armour), that I just packed it back up to return it after trying it on. If Sitka could put the Insect Shield Technology into a Core Light hoody, then we would be onto something. The material for the Equinox Guard is just way below my expectations.

Great early season hoody

Absolutely love this for early season. Wore it this year in warm conditions and it was the perfect weight to be in camo with zero bulk. I was amazed at how well it worked keeping the mosquitoes off me. I would put my hood up and they would just disappear. Very satisfied.

I’ve made it most of

I’ve made it most of my season here in Oklahoma as a guide. This hoodie matched with my Kelvin vest has been my go to!

Rainy Days!

Bought this to use as rain gear for hunts as well as out on the boat. Great quality as is expected. Recommend getting one size bigger.

Well thought out garment. Time

Well thought out garment. Time will tell how it works against mosquitos. I’m 6’1” 200lbs and the large fit good. Not to tight or too loose.

Awesome early season hoody. This piece keeps me cool and a very warm early season elk hunt and worked very good keeping the bugs off me.

Equinox guard hoody is an awesome layer for warmer mornings. I loved it for turkey and teal season. Also a great fishing shirt.

Best early season gear

I have used this several times. In Louisiana early season this is the perfect lightweight, insect repellent top.

East Texas Approved!

Most of my hunts (scouting excursions) are in the Piney Woods of East Texas. It's hot and humid for most of the spring, summer, and fall. I've warn this hoody every time out. I don't need the Thermocell or sprays/creams with it on. It's hands down my one, go to, outerwear.

Fits well.

As with all Sitka gear it fits well when you understand that all sizes run a bit small to begin with. 4 stars are mainly it is a bit lighter than I expected but will work for what it’s needed for.

Early bow season MUST!

Great project. Cool and keeps mosquitoes at bay. Worked great early to mid bow season in Georgia. Also is a great base layer when it’s chilly.

Excellent, with one down side

Down here in FL, I typically only need this top as a stand alone through the year. I wear this shirt every hunt. I only need a jacket a few weeks during a deer season. This shirt is a must because of the mosquitoes, I’ve truly noticed a better experience when being in an area with a lot of them. The built in repellent does seem to help but i think the best part of the hoody is the fabric. Mosquitoes do have a hard time biting through it. Now the bad…this thing gets wet with sweat very quickly. Because of the protection the fabric gives. It is a very hot shirt when there is no wind. So I have to wash it constantly. I love mine and will wear it for the foreseeable future , but man it doesn’t breathe and it stays wet all day.
