Comfortable and moisture-wicking, especially in hot, humid conditions, the pant is made from a lightweight SITKA-developed fabric that promotes airflow and features zippered leg vents that expel heat when moving fast and zip up for extra protection. Internal leg gaiters helps prevent against ticks and chiggers from crawling up your legs when worn under socks.

Balancing the need for comfort in hot conditions with preventing contact with insects, tick and chiggers runs a fine line. A lot of existing solutions are bulky, too hot, include DEET or release smell into the environment. The Equinox Guard Pant utilizes mechanical properties to help prevent contact with ticks and chiggers. A specialized high-gauge textile is utilized for comfortable, low-bulk internal leg gaiters designed to be worn inside socks, while textiles and vent promote air flow. Providing a second element of protection, the entire garment is treated with Insect Shield which Repels mosquitoes, ticks, ants, biting flies, chiggers, and midges (no-see-ums), and does not require re-application.
Awesome warm weather pant, especially once the bugs come out and other lightweight pants will let bites through.
Adaptable to a wide range of temperatures with a base layer when it gets colder — these are my go-to pants for spring through the end of archery season.
Would love to see these offered in solids.
Great pants with some really cool features. The addition of built in knee pads would get them 5 stars, but without them they fall short of being a 5-star turkey hunting garment.
I absolutely love these pants. I wore them all season, except for one hunt. That one hunt where switched to a different brand made me a believer in the tech that is in these pants. That is the only day I had ticks on me all season. I hunted multiple States. Everything from the Swamps and Mountains of Tennessee to thickets of North Missouri. No ticks while wearing these.
I took these pants archery elk hunting in September... LOVED them! For warmer weather and active pursuits, these pants breathe exceptionally well! The fabric breathes great, in addition to the hip vents and 45-degree angle mesh pockets! The fit was spot on for me and they felt great, especially hiking with a backpack. The fabric on the outside is quiet, very soft, and durable. For how lightweight and soft these pants are I was amazed at their durability as I took them through the thick brush and prickly country. The stretch is also great. I feel like these pants could easily be marketed toward more big-game pursuits. On those more chilly days, I layered with a merino long john and it worked great. Wouldn't recommend them for colder weather as that's not what they are made for. If you're looking for lightweight, quiet, breathable, stretchy, durable, and great-fitting pants the Equinox will fit your needs.
I bought the equinox hoody and really want to buy the pants but I feel like Sitka missed a great opportunity here to include pockets for knee pads. Not only are the knee pads great for turkey and elk hunting, the knee pads would be perfect for those hot early season whitetail hunts out of the saddle for some knee protection against the tree.
Almost the perfect pant (for me). I’ve always wanted Sitka to add a heat vent to their Mountain pant to make the perfect all season pant. I was very excited to see these pants with a heat vent and zippered pockets (unlike the Apex). However, these pants do not have knee pad pockets. I think for the price of these, the mesh pockets should have been sewn in and then the customer could purchase knee pads if desired. I’m having my wife’s seamstress see them in and she said it’ll be easy and not expensive. If you don’t care about knee pads then these pants are a 5 star, but I’ve got to give 4 stars since they are important to me.
Equinox Guard Pants. I was a little skeptical about a pair of light weight hunting pants at the price point. After hunting all turkey season, I'm all in on them. Light enough for the humid VA turkey season and never had any bites from any of the spring bitters. Never found a tick anywhere on any price of the collection. Sizing was my normal 38" waist ( Wranglers, Carhartt and Sika) with enough room for a light bottom underneath on those cooler mornings if needed. I'm 6'-0"and 210 LBs. They do ride low like others have commented. My only complaint is the lack of back pockets but I knew that when I purchased them.
Pants are more than just a leg covering, they often are a critical gear in hunting. I plan on purchasing a pair in elevated II for this falls Archery Season but I am concerned that certain features such as a reliable place to hold the grunt tube as you work that target buck may be missing. I prefer a leg placement as it gets the grunt tube out of the way when drawing a bow. Nice to see Beau's comment here. I own about every piece for whitetail hunting from Sitka and it never lets me down hunting my property in Ohio or my hometown woods in PA. Keep up the great innovations.
Turkey and mushroom hunted in these 10-12 days. Never did see a tick advancing on the equinox playing field. Like this better than dousing clothes with chemical every couple weeks. Sure would have liked to have back pockets on these pants though!
I echo the comments of the other review, "I just received my pants (28 Apr 22) and I ordered a size up based on previous comments and got a 40R" waist. They are exactly 2" too big for me and the legs aren't anywhere near tight." These pants do not run small, they are true to size. I will be returning my 40R and going with 38R.
Very comfortable pants. I wear a 37 in most sitka pants and based on reviews I sized up to 38. I am glad I did, they fit but are a little snug in the waist but everywhere else they are perfect.
Interesting comments so far on the sizing. I just received my pants (19 Apr 22) and I ordered a size up based on previous comments and got a 40R" waist. They are exactly 2" too big for me and the legs aren't anywhere near tight. Maybe they shrink if you wash in hot water (you are supposed to use cold). I would call them the same as my other pants (mountain, equinox, ESW, stratus, and traverse) so I would say order your normal size. I can't see using these for layering underneath, but there is room to go light layer if you want. I will need to exchange these for 38R when they come back in stock.
These pants run a bit tight in the waisted, but fit well in length as well as thighs. I have always had tree trunks for legs. These pants are snug, not tight, and fit well.
The cargo pocket could be a bit bigger, but it works well. I like the material for pocket knives. The interlocking cuff of the pants are great. They don't compress your legs, and provide plenty of overlap so no bugs crawl up your legs from your boots. Having insect guard and polygiene, help kill any stinks well as keep bugs off you. I think I like these more than the ESW pants. The ESW pants are thinner, less rigid, and stretch more than these pants. I am ok with having a thicker material to keep skeeters from biting my legs. They are a must have!!
Nice quality but sized WAY small in the waist. I am 6'2 and 225 and usually wear a 38 tall. Length was good but size up at least one size (maybe two) in the waist. The pants also sit a bit lower than actual waist - closer to hip huggers (for those of you who remember).
Fantastic pants with venting all while helping prevent tick borne illnesses. The pants are very comfortable and functional. Very impressed and functionality second to none for turkey hunters.
The Equinox Guard Pant is exceptionally lightweight and breathable for those warm spring mornings. The hip vents on the pants allow for maximum airflow, but the mesh inside keeps the bugs out. Along that line, having tick repellant along with the internal liners in the pants to tuck into your socks built into the garments is critical as ticks continue to get worse here in the northeast.
The Equinox Guard Pants are my favorite piece of hunting clothing that I've ever owned. They are so innovative. They provide me protection from ticks, chiggers, and mosquitos, yet they are quiet and comfortable. Their built-in, breathable zipper zones allow me to hunt the cool spring mornings and the hot southern afternoons in the same gear. I can't tell you how many people I've shown them to because they are a must-have.
The pant has the comfort of the grinder but provides reassurance against ticks and mosquitoes. Upon receiving the pants, there wasn’t any odor like other protectants have, not mention being concerned about any harmful liquids touching your skin. After using the pant I can confidently say I did not find a single tick on me after many sits beginning from mid April through the end of May.
The Equinox Guard Pants are legit. Quiet, comfortable and have all the features. Love the zip vents in the legs that allow air flow on those hot days. The Guard in the ankle area gives you comfort in knowing the ticks will not be crawling up your pant legs.
I used the Guard Pant on every turkey hunt last spring and never pulled a single tick off my skin. Compared to when I used to only wear solid-colored pants so I could try spot ticks crawling on me before they reached my skin and picked up to a couple hundred off in a day, thousands a season!! They are quiet, breathe well with mesh backed vents, stretchy and super comfortable. They are similar to the Apex pant with some added features such as Insect Shield and tick stoppers. Tick borne diseases have scared the heck out of me because of my amount of exposure each year deer, turkey, waterfowl hunting and dog training. Lymes cases are high in the area I live and the effects of that disease can potentially kill you.
Getting eaten alive by bugs can turn an otherwise great hunt into a miserable experience. But even more importantly, insects like ticks and mosquitoes can carry all kinds of diseases, from Lyme disease to Rocky Mountain Spotted fever. In collaboration with Gore textile specialists, we looked to solve this problem.

These pants are as good as advertised!! Super comfortable. Fit perfect. And no TICKS. I have the full Equinox System for this turkey season! Love everything about them.
This is a must have if you hate ticks/chiggers/no-see-ums. Basically anything that likes to bite will be stopped by this product. I hunted all last season in the turkey camo set up and called in 3 times begging them to make it available in an everyday color that I could wear around the house and out playing yard games with friends/family.
These pants are perfect for warmer early season hunts and pre-season scouting and tree stand preparation. I am 6’3”, 225 lbs. and the Large Tall fits me great. Quality is second to none and the built in bug “gators” that tuck into your socks/boots are a great idea! Highly recommend this pant. I pair these with the Equinox Guard Hoodie.
I'm glad to see Sitka make these in a big guy size! Light weight, breaths nice and the zip vents/pockets are awesome. I will get a second pair. 1 season in the woods and they are holding up well. The reenforced pocket stitching where you clip your pocketknife is a nice touch.
