It has been well over a year since I purchased the Kelvin Jacket as well as the Kelvin Vest. I like to review items after they have been put to the test. I bought the gear with a float hunt for Moose and Caribou in the Brooks Range beginning in mid September. Temperatures can greatly vary but we averaged temps in the mid 30's to lows of about 20. My greatest concern was for my body core. My plan was to wear a merino base layer under a wool "commando" type sweater and top it off with the Kelvin Jacket and the Kelvin Vest underneath the jacket in case it got really cold on the river. I never even took the vest out of my dry bag. Of course when heavy rains began, I pulled out my waterproof shell as to not get the Kelvin Jacket saturated. However, the Kelvin Jacket did perform well and repelled light rain and snow.

Elevated Forest pattern Kelvin Jacket size XL. Plus ++++ Very warm and light. Good snug fit when zipped up around neck. Many compliments received on good looks. Minus - very static prone in dry Michigan winter. More than any other of my jackets by far. A little short in length. I am 6'1" and 220 lbs. An XL Tall size would be nice.

The jacket is extremely warm for its weigh, but not very durable in the field. The fabric has torn several times on the sleeves by thorns or brush. I expected it to be more durable fabric considering the cost of the jacket.

This is a workhorse of a jacket. Works great above or below a shell. Just spent 8 days in -15d C (5d F) in windy snowy northern bc moose hunting with bow. I wore merino base layer with a little vest and the Kelvin jacket. I'd throw my stormfront on top when quadding to my hunting area. I stayed nice and toasty the whole trip. When I was hiking I'd stuff it in my backpack. This is a piece of mind jacket. I never worry about the weather. I can get it wet or dirty and it still functions great. Nice lined pockets for warmth on your hands. I do wish there was a detachable hood for extreme cold. I have a mountaineering and ice climbing background so I know the limitations of down and I get a sick pleasure at pushing gear to its limit and beyond. That way I know the limits of what I can get myself into and out of. Great gear Sitka. Keep up the good work. And your customer service is top notch. They've completely taken care of any of my issues I've ever had. Thanks!

One kick butt jacket, wear it under a GORE shell steelheading in northern Michigan. Great warmth light weight and sweet looking. Handles 20 degree temps without a problem. Sitka is now my go to steelhead wear. Bad to the bone!

A. How do I know what Sitka Gear I need for my hunt?

What is Sitka Gear’s Warranty Policy?

A. We stand behind every product we make.  If you are unhappy with any of our products at the time your receive them, feel free to send them back.  Damage due to wear and tear will be repaired at a reasonable cost.  For more details, visit our Repairs and Warranties page.

How can I determine which size will fit me best?

How do I know if a specific Sitka Gear pack is the right size for me?

Can I return my purchase for a refund for exchange?

A. Yes you can.  If it is within 60 days of the original purchase date and you would like to return your product for an exchange or refund, please visit and follow the prompts to receive and RA#.  Note, that products must be unused with hangtags still affixed and must have been purchased direct from Sitka Gear.  If your item was purchased from one of our Authorized Dealers, please contact them in regards to their individual return policy.

Can I place a backorder on

A. Unfortunately, we do not accept back orders at this time.  If there’s a specific product you would like to find and it’s not available on our site, please call or email our gear experts at 877-SITKA-GR or  We would be glad to help you locate the product from an authorized retailer.

What method do you use to ship your products?

A. All of our orders are shipped via FedEx.  Standard Ground, 2-Day or Overnight deliveries are available.  Additional charges do apply for express shipments, oversized items and/or duties & customs into Canada.

How do I track my order?

A. If you have entered a valid email address through the checkout process you will receive an email from FedEx with your tracking number when your shipment is processed. 

How long will it take to receive my order?

A. We make every effort possible to get your order processed and shipped in a timely fashion.  Most orders are shipped within 2 business days of order placement.  If an item on your order is backordered or out of stock, you will be contacted by a Sitka Gear customer service associate to discuss alternative options.

Why do I need to create an account to order online?

A. Creating an account with us helps speed up the ordering process for you and allows you to keep track of your order history, as well as manage your profile information online.

Why does my credit card show two charges?

A. Sometimes credit/debit card statements contain two transactions, but this is only a temporary scenario.  When a purchase is made, an authorization is placed on your card to temporarily hold the funds on your account.  This is not an actual charge on your card.  Once the order has been shipped, this authorization becomes an approval and charges your account at that time.  The authorization will drop off your account within 2-3 business days (depending on the financial institution).

Can I cancel my order?

A. We may be able to cancel your order but can only do this by telephone.  Please call us at 877-SITKA-GR as soon as possible after you have placed your order.  Otherwise it may be too late, as we try to process and get orders out the door as quickly as possible.
