Bend your elbow and put your hand on your hip. Measure from the center of the back of your neck, along the shoulder and down the elbow to the wrist bone.
Take measurement under armpits, around fullest part of chest and shoulder blades.
Measure around where you normally wear your pants, keeping the tape measure a bit loose or putting one finger between your body and the tape measure.
In a standing position, measure from your crotch to where you want your pants to end, breaking at the top of the shoe in the front and just above the heel in the back.
With hand partially closed, measure over the knuckles, around the hand, excluding the thumb.
SITKA Gear engineers gear with a specific Fit and intended end use in mind. These functional designs provide the user with authentic garments for the right situation.
We can communicate our Fit descriptions in 3 different ways. Keep in mind that each garment will allow for layering in accordance to the garments place in a system and described Fit
Designed for minimal layering. Whether an early season piece or already insulated this garment fits to prevent inefficiencies in heat retention caused by dead space.
Designed to accommodate layering for more versatility from early to late season climates.
Designed for maximum layering in the worst conditions. Cut roomier to accommodate additional layering underneath.
Weight: 19.52 oz. // Size L
Fabric: 4-Way Stretch Nylon.
Durable Water Repellent finish resists light precipitation and prevents the face fabric from wetting out.
Diagonal Thigh Zip Pockets: The Diagonal diagonal thigh zip pockets offer security for small essentials, easy access from the seated position and additional ventilation when necessary.
Low-Profile Belt System: The low-profile belt system keeps the pant comfortably in place , even when you weighted down the pockets with shells.
Articulated Fit: The fit is athletic with tapered legs and a low-profile waist that won’t bunch or chafe under waders. An offset waist button further reduces bulk when layering.

Waterfowl hunters have a need for an all-encompassing pant that can work for the entire hunt. Most pants in this space have a poor fit or lack range of motion while trying to cover multiple weather windows. Our approach was to design an ultra-durable pant that could serve dual purposes–as durable outerwear and also an insulating layer in colder conditions–while still allowing for a superior range of motion. We included diagonal zip pockets on the thighs to grant easy access to essentials while sitting and a DWR finish resists light precipitation and prevents the face fabric from wetting-out. The Grinder pant can be worn as a standalone piece or easily layered into your waterfowl system for all-season hunting.
My go to pants, highly recommend.
Absolutely love these pants.. they are a bit long, so I had to hem them. Highly recommend these..
Same as some of the other reviews. Way to baggy below the knee to wear under waders which is why I bought them Not sure what I will purpose them for now but they are comfortable but look silly with how baggy they are around the calf/ankle.
Ordered these to be used under waders and to and from the hunt. I found them to be way to baggy below the thigh. Would be a great outer layer on field hunts but I believe the Gradient pant would be best suited for my needs.
Really great black pants just what I was looking for. Customer service representative was very helpful and polite.
Would highly recommend these pants for sure. Just waiting for the other colors to go on sale.
Really nice pants, just enough stretch when being active. These work well under waders, legs slide right out after the hunt is over. Recommend using base layer when temps drop.
These are my go to pants for anything above 40 degrees. Very comfortable on long days and plenty tough enough to handle a wide range of terrain. I own 4 pairs and wear them exclusively on hunting trips. Just wish they came in big game patterns.
These pants have a lot of extra fabric in the lower leg, also cannot have my knife with clip in the pockets, that extra fabric they have on these pants where your knife clip goes is slippery and have lost my knife multiple times hunting in the field. Fabric is tough and good for hunting upland, but the extra fabric around the boots can be a hassle walking many miles.
Just got these pants last week. Used them for Pheasant opener where I was able to shoot 2 birds. Awesome pant. Will be getting another pair!
Use these for pheasant hunting and absolutely love them. Great pockets and features. In late season I would recommend layering up.
I like the pants, functionality, and feel. I have only worn them a couple of times and already have a snag, so I am questioning how long they will last. They are a bit noisy.
By far my favorite pants by Sitka.... Beyond pleased with how these have held up through the rough terrain and still look new!!! Get ya a pair!
I just got my first pair in black and love them. I would say a regular pair of work pants on steroids; outstanding Sitka construction. I am 6’ 6” 200 lbs I usually wear size 34 waist but read all the reviews about sizes running small so got a 36 tall and they fit great. I can see me having several pairs of these pants.
Just get you some, yesterday!
Hands down the best pants I’ve ever owned. The 4 way stretch is unreal, never bunches or gets tight. I’ve used these pants for bear baiting, shed hunting, chorin and hunting…never disappointed.
I’ve walked through wet grass to get to my stand and the pants are dry within an hour. Do yourself a favor and get a pair.
Awesome pants! These are my go to for work around the farm, field hunting waterfowl, and upland bird hunting. Pair these with the Gradient pants and I'm good down to the upper-20s. The fabric repels water well and they dry quickly. These things are bulletproof when is comes to getting them dirty also....mud & blood wash right out. I own three pairs and they get abused weekly and keep coming back for more!
Best pair of pants I own! Will definitely purchase a few more pair. Wish they come in more colors
Very comfortable. I wore them for early season goose in a field blind, temps in the low 60's and into the 70's. Last couple of mornings I have worn them under breathable waders for early teal hunting, mid 50's for temps. They stretch and have a slippery feel to them when sliding in and out of the waders. There is no binding. The vented pockets dump a lot of heat. I never felt too warm or cool/cold. 5-11, 200 lbs and I wear a 36R (I normally wear a 34 in jeans). The 36R's fit me well and I have room for a base layer under them when needed. Like I said, Very Comfortable. I can see another pair or two in my future.
Great pant—even for the ladies! It can be very discouraging finding good quality camo in ladies sizes. I was looking for a pant that I could use alone in early season or under my waders in late season, and the only sizes available in the ladies pant were 28 and 40…and I am neither of those. I am normally a ladies size 8 and the 32R in these pants fit great. Lightweight and easy to move in, and I didn’t overheat in a 75 degree early season goose hunt. I look forward to wearing these the rest of the year!
These are awesome upland bird hunting pants. They are great on warm days, protecting you from morning frost/dew and seem to be thorn proof. The crotch area doesn't bind when walking through heavy grass or crossing a fence. If it gets cold out just wear a thin pair of long underwear and you're good to go. They are hands down the best rooster chasing pants I have ever worn and they are WELL WORTH THE PRICE TAG.
Great pants for everyday/work use. Very comfortable and pretty durable. They fit true to size and have some degree of moisture protection. I carried these on a snow skiing trip and they were absolutely perfect. I love them so much I bought 5 pair for every day of the week. They are the best everyday pants on the market and are great for cool days under the waders.
I love these pants. I wear them in all but the warmest and coldest conditions. I wear them under bibs or as an outer layer as either a stand alone or with a base layer. They start out many mornings at hunt tests in the summer...they are tough and comfortable. I have heavier pants and lighter pants but find these are generally my go to wear. My only knock on them is that I’m 6’6 so the long size still shows some ankle...doesn’t matter for these pants I swallow my vanity and show my legs.
Absolutely love these pants, Extremely comfortable. Leg pockets could be a bit bigger but not a big deal.
Mud & Timber (34R) - 5'10/195lbs
These are the BEST pants we have ever worn!! Our entire team has multiple pairs of these pants in multiple different colors and we wear them year round both in the field and casually everyday. Do yourself a favor and add these to your cart...best pair of pants you will ever own!! Period!!
Best everyday pants Sitka makes. Comfortable, durable and great fit.
I just got these pants and by first impressions I love them. I like that the pockets do not have a zipper on them for easy access. They fit very true and they are very well-made pants. I love your gear.
Wore these pants on an antelope hunt in Wyoming through cactus and sage brush and they held up great!
Light weight and comfortable. These are great under waders early in the season when the temps are still up there. However, I actually utilize the Grinder Pant (Mud finish) more for dog training through out the year. The light weight makes them perfect for summer wear. The stretchiness is perfect for; bending over and correcting dog positions, climbing into and out of the truck and just about any other situation that may arise. A very nice pant that may be of more use as an everyday pant, rather than a hunting pant!
This is a tough pair of pants! Extremely comfortable.
These pants are extremely comfortable and move with you. Boot cut so pants won't ride up over your boots when bending over or squatting. Bought these pants for doing work around the farm, hunting, fishing. Bought these pants based on durability and the ability to wear these for every season. Will put these to the test.
These pants fit great and are remarkably comfortable. The fabric stretches allowing you to climb or step over things easily and yet are really durable. The zippered pockets are great for securing items during a boat or atv ride and the knife pocket is well constructed and handy.
Love these pants and the mud color. I’ve always wanted a solid color pant like these other than blue jeans because I don’t like being camo from head to toe after the hunt. I just wish they had a built in ankle garter or stirrup for wearing under my waders. They would be perfect with those.
Greatest pants I’ve ever bought!
I love these! I wear them under waders or under the Layout bib pants and couldn't be happier with them. I also use them as the outer layer when goose hunting on warm days. Very comfortable, and while they aren't something I'd tackle brush in day after day, they will do the job when needed.
I really want to like these pants more than I do, I just can't really find a good purpose for them. I will wear them under my waders when its in the 45-60 degree range, but other than that, I really can't find their purpose. I have heard they are very durable & could be worn upland hunting, but personally, I don't see that. The material is too stretchy to be that durable.
Had these on opening weekend in northern IL. Had a forecast of light rain turn into an hr. of heavy rain. DWR was way better then expected. Worth every penny
I absolutely love these pants. I can wear them anytime, when duck hunting, deer hunting or just working around the house or in the fields. They are extremely comfortable and durable.
This is one of the most comfortable pairs of pants I own. Hunted in them this morning, 50 degrees in uninsulated waders with no issues. Then wore them to my sons Boy Scout event. Love this pair of pants! Great for hunting, scouting and other events!
I bought the grinder pant last year, and let me tell ya there are the best! Great durability, breath ability, and very breathable. With a long john underneath, very versatile! Great product! A+
I own way too much Sitka gear for the field and bought these Grinder Pants for a more casual environment. Best solid color pant in your lineup. Don't get me wrong I also own it in the camo colors. It is a shame though that you do not carry it in another solid color of two, pyrite would be awesome. Let's bring some more solid colors to the market.
These are my go to pants for chores around the marsh and field, and are unmatched for wearing under waders during early and mid-season hunts.
Have worn the grinder pants on several hunts this year and other than being a bit noise through the brush, they have done amazing! Walking through thick and thorny brush has had no effect on these pants. And are extremely comfortable for long hikes!
These pants are flat out amazing. Admittedly when I first got them, I didn’t see the full potential or really how amazing they were. For some reason I decided to keep them. After wearing them once, I never wanted to take them off. They are for slightly cooler temps. I’d say 60 degrees and below. They are comfy, well thought out, functional, and have a modern fit. They are different from any pants I own. Everyone needs a pair of pants like this. These pants only make me want to own more Sitka products. I’ve yet to see any other company or clothing manufacturer who puts so much thought into their garments. Oh, and the color is perfect. Goes with so much.
Awesome pant for all activities in winter months.
The Grinder pant is the perfect pre or post hunt slack. stylish and very comfortable with a generous rise. Definitely my go to slack.
Great pant, comfortable, durable, and gets the job done. I have 3 pair, really like the solid colors for everyday use!
These pants are very well constructed. The 4 way stretch is super comfortable and doesn't hinder movement. Great for everyday wear as the fabric is very durable and abrasion resistant. The pants tend to be on the warmer side of typical everyday pants. The thigh pocket can be left open and used to dump heat if need be. One minor negative is the pants are quite a bit louder than expected but over all a great all around pant.

Pants are Legit! Super functional and incredibly comfortable. Please make these in more colors Sitka!!
These pants are great. Feel lightweight but are warm in cold temps. Stretchy but sturdy. Not as heavy as the Dakota pants. So far really like them.
I really like these pants. They fit well, stop the wind, are very comfortable, and are just a great overall mid-weight pant.
I really like the design and feel of these pants. It’s a different material and cut from the older Grinder pants. With that said, the newer pants fit a little slimmer than the olds. I didn’t experience the extra material on the lower legs. These will work great for early season hunting, everyday use, and especially nice for wearing under waders before and after the hunt. Despite the sizing difference it’s still getting 5-stars.
