Got this jacket in a men’s large and it’s definitely big on me (women’s medium). That said, I wore it when it was windy and 7 degrees here in Alaska with just a long sleeve under. I could not believe how warm I stayed especially with it being loose. This is going to be a must have in my hunting pack for cold weather- it’s lightweight and incredibly warm! I have multiple down jackets and this is my warmest by far.

Great down puffy. Very warm and oversized to lay over layers. Could be improved if it came with a stuff sack, I used a separate one and it works great for packing it down. Also, arm sizing is short. I am 6’3 with decently long arms and this guy is a bit short, but still good. Finally- the hood needs work. No peripheral vision when wearing it, and cinch’s like Kenny from South Park.

Insane at how warm this jacket is. I've been exposed to near -30 F temps in it. When I want to stay warm, I wear this while Ice Fishing. If you are looking for a hunting jacket, in tight brush I'm not sure how this jacket would fair for durability, but so far I have yet to tear mine. I just wish Sitka would make the hood removable. As far as size wize. I am 6'4 and 200 lbs. Jacket fits me well.

For starters, this thing is extremely lightweight and comfortable. I've only used it in the low 40's so far (sitting static) but with just a t-shirt underneath I was quite toasty and would regularly unzip to vent. I can't fund anything about the waterproofness of it, but ran the sleeve under the faucet for 30 sec or so and it all rolled off without absorbing anything. As far as size goes, it fits true to size.... however, it is not designed to be snug. I typically wear a Large-Long or XL due to the length of my arms (6'5") and wearing a size XL this fits comfortably over a light jacket and bino harness. I ordered a 3L stuff sack to stuff this guy into and it fits perfect and snug, about the size of a nalgene water bottle.

The hood is unusable with the lack of a middle drawstring. Using the pocket for compressed storage of the jacket, the pocket\zipper didn't hold up. Just sent mine in for return/refund. The concept of a larger size jacket that fits over everything else, and that has the most insulation they sell sounded great. I am hoping a new revision is released addressing my concerns.

The Sitka HyperDown Jacket completes the system when you need that warm outer puffy layer. The weight to warmth ratio on this piece is nice. You can throw it in your pack, climb to your vantage point, and pull it out and put it on to stay warm while you glass.

Got hands on new Kelvin Hyperdown Jacket. Initial impressions compared against the predecessor Kelvin Down WS Hoody: 1) it is way lighter, definitely backpacking friendly. However I question the durability of the shell (27d), feels noticeably more delicate and tear prone than the Kelvin Down WS 2) longer length cut is awesome as is the solid colorway 3) feels warm, but not as lofty as the Down WS 4) Does NOT have Gore Windstopper, which is a big miss in my book. Part of the reason for the less sturdy face fabric is to achieve it's lighter weight I suppose, but if you're glassing exposed ridges in this in high winds, would probably wish it had it. 5) Hood is poorly constructed. No drawstring adjustment on the back of the hood to cinch in, just along the outside, which makes peripheral vision when head turning horrible. 6) internal dump pockets are nice improvement over the old zip pockets, which were not ideal for large glassing mitts. Overall, same oversized fit, but more proportional now with the longer cut. A decent jacket, but part of me wishes I hadn't parted with my old Kelvin Down WS as this just doesn't have the same bombproof feel that would hold up to hunting. Doesn't even say anywhere that the shell was even DWR treated... Nice to have a solid color option now for daily use in Minnesota winters too.

The warmest puffy jacket (and pants) SITKA’s ever made! Coldest hunt I used it on was a 10-day winter mountain goat hunt in BC. Temps dropped down to -10F but with the jacket/pants on I was super comfortable. My buddies called me the 'Michelin Man' because I was so puffy. They were jealous... and cold...

The HyperDown Jacket is a game changer for late season mountain hunts, when you need as much heat-trapping insulation as possible, but weight and packability are still a big priority. I’m completely shocked at how light this piece is for how much warmth it provides — it’s essentially a sleeping bag for your upper body and allows you to glass longer and be more comfortable. It’s now my favorite down piece from SITKA.
