I’ve been wanting a “heavier” puffy for a while, hunting in Alberta late November we can see some really cold temperatures (-40). So I wanted something that could fit inside my pack and was light and easy to carry, but also warm enough when the temperatures dip down. This Hyperdown jacket is exactly what I was looking for. Im almost inbetween sizes as I am 6’3” 250lbs…. I ordered an XL because I read they run a bit big, this jacket fits overtop of all my other layers. I tried it on over top of my Ambient 200(XL) and Jetstream(XXL) jackets. At first I thought it was too big but I can’t believe how well it packs down. Can’t wait to try it out this winter!

Havent put this coat to use but my first impression of it out of the box is that its what i was looking for. Super light weight, high loft and good fit. The hood is sized large enough and dimensions of the body and arms allow for the two wool layers that i would typically wear underneath while hunting. Im 6-03 200lbs and purchased the Large In lichen. I looked at several similar down coats from competitors and selected this one based on features, sale price and the high level of satisfaction that i have had from the other sitka garments (pants, vest, gloves) that i have from them. Always super high quality products, practical design and good fit. I plan to wear this coat daily and in the field as needed.

I have both the uber-warm hyper down gear and the medium warmth sitka gear. Both are fantastic. For normal puffy gear while sitting on the mountain glassing, the medium warmth is perfect. But in super cold or even Arctic level temperatures, the hyper down here is amazing. The hyper down gear, of course, is thicker and does not pack as well as as the medium strength gear, but is still relatively easy to shove in a backpack without taking a ton of space.

The hyper down jacket is extremely lightweight for this calibre of weather and extreme cold protection- I had the Kelvin lite down prior and loved that jacket - the hyper down brings it to the next level and I used it as a daily wear now even during windy and cold Canadian spring weather in the mountains. The the other surprising thing is the movebility it has, to go to full draw at bow practices easily or just freely move stuff arround when I’m in the woods of our mountain farm - I feel like wearing a “tshirt” and being cozylly tugged away. The inside material is super soft and comfortable, also the had warm pockets are great. I love the technical approach of the inside pockets to heat up gear - maybe a next version of this jacket could have also an inside zipper pocket as I use this a lot for my wallet and phone. Overall I think there is nothing like it on the market currently in that lightweight and warmth category especially for the outdoors power user that transports gear and equipment where every gram counts. 💪🏼

The most comfortable down puffy jacket I’ve ever owned. I won this jacket, thanks to a raffle, and so thankful I did! I have the solid color and wear this around town, to the mountain, ice-fishing, and it’ll definitely be in my pack for spring bear and late season deer. It’s comfort and down warmth literally feels like a sleeping bag and is lightweight. It has very impressive loft capabilities in the design and the baffles are all full, there aren’t any flat gaps in the down, and I’ve been plenty warm in it. Sitka made this jacket bigger than what they typically size for jackets, so I would recommend for ppl to get the same size they wear in a shirt. It’s made for layering and not super tight, for example, I’m 210 (currently) and 6’0 and have a Large. You’ll enjoy!

I wear a medium in the ambient hoodie (my favorite Sitka item) was worried the medium would be too small. Fortunately it’s a perfect fit I can put it over a lighter weight down and it fits great. The purpose of this jacket will be for sitting and glassing in -30c and I think it will work perfectly.

This jacket is pretty perfect. So many little details that are well thought out. It is extremely lightweight and packs down small, so it won't take up much space in your pack. Solid zipper. Really nice cuff design. Large interior pockets for quickly stashing gloves or other gear. Draw cords were you want them. They aren't trying to reinvent the wheel, this is a simple design with attention to detail. I got a large so that I can layer it over all my other layers and outerwear.

Super warm coat, warmest I have ever worn. Wore in -38 in Minnesota and was toasty warm. Only recommendation I would suggest is upgrade the zipper. It is a lightweight zipper on a coat that is worn usually with heavy gloves or mittens. It is hard to get a hold of even without gloves. If zipper was heavier it would be a 5 star +

For a jacket this warm, its lightweight and pretty packable. Runs large, as designed to go over bino case. Seems decently water resistant, worn in the rain for an hour and no problem. It's not Goretex but pretty good anyway. Very comfortable. Large hood to go over hats. Fairly simple design but not much I would add for bells and whistles that would be worth the weight. Great product so far. NOW MAKE ME A FANATIC BALACLAVA

I have had a chance to wear this jacket in extremely cold conditions and it is so lightweight and comfortable, it is almost like not having it on at all. It will keep you warm without the bulk! In addition to the hood being perfectly designed, for warmth and wind protection, the pockets are insulated on the inside of the jacket also. (Most are not) If you prefer to not wear bulky gloves, the pockets will keep your hands warm and protected from the elements. No need to purchase a larger size to go over clothing. It has ample room.

Great Puffy for glassing. Definitely runs on the big side. I’m typically a large and probably could’ve went with a medium and still fit with my my bino pack on. The fabric does not look very durable, but I am only using this once I am in camp or glassing. For me, it has a purpose in my kit

Took this on a plains whitetail hunt. I was a little skeptical, but this jacket kept me warm and in the field longer. Very happy with the purchase. I wear a large Jetstream and bought this in a large - big enough to easily fit over the Jetstream jacket comfortably. Whatever size you usually wear in Sitka, order that size to fit over your other layers.

As I have gotten older, staying warm on. Cold weather hunts has gotten harder and harder. After hiking up to 7,000 feet on a Mule Deer hunt in Colorado, I pulled of layers and through on this jacket while we glassed the herd we tracked. The winds were a steady 20 MPH with 30-35 MPH gusts. I stayed warm the entire time, no wind penetrated the jacket, with two lite weight layers underneath, my movement was not restricted, I was comfortable, and with the hood cinched a bit, my ears and head were warm as can be. This is becoming my new favorite jacket for windy, cold conditions

Recently got this jacket and put it to the test shed hunting in Alberta in -35 with extreme windchill and the jacket performed outstanding. Found it very similar in warmth to the discontinued Kelvin Windstopper down, (which is my favorite warm jacket of all time) but the hyperdown jacket is at least 10 ounces less! Will be using it as my new late season sheep hunting down jacket!

Ordered this jacket specifically to use during 3rd season elk hunts in Colorado. As I've gotten older, staying warm on these types of hunts has become more difficult for me. Whether it was long hours spent glassing in the cold and wind or traveling on an open side-by-side in near zero-degree temps, this jacket kept me very comfortable. Which allowed me to stay in the field longer. It compressed surprising well into my pack, so it wasn't a burden when not in use. Overall, very happy with the performance.

Crazy warm for how light it is. Haven’t been able to test it in anything too extreme yet, but I wore the jacket and pants (with lightweight hoody, ambient jacket and timberline pants) for a few hours while glassing for elk in CO, and stayed warm with temps in the 20s. Jacket and pants pack down to a little larger than a Nalgene. Also, sleeping in them allowed me to be (almost too) warm and cozy with only a 20F bag and a flimsy sleeping pad.
