Great vest

Great lightweight vest. I already have a camo version, and am excited to have one in black for everyday use. I do wish Sitka had a med-large size.

Good Vest

I like the vest; however, the elastic in the arm pit area is tight and after a while becomes uncomfortable. Vest is very warm, and I still wear the vest when needed; however, if you fix the arm elastic issue the vest would have been rated 5 stars.

Poor insulation

I bought this hoping to add a great insulation layer will little bulk. I wear it over the core layers and under the main jacket. I've used it for a spot and stalk mule deer hunt in the upper 20s and while sitting in the stand for whitetails in the low 30s. I like its low bulk low weight design, but for a synthetic down alternative I was expecting more in terms of warmth. It is extremely thin and feels almost like there is no insulation in it at all. If you're looking for a lightweight core layer to help fight off the chill while glassing or sitting in the stand then this vest just won't cut it. For the price, it's not worth it. If I bought another one I would not spend more than $20.

Nice vest

I used this piece of gear under my Mountain jacket this past season on a couple of cold mornings before starting my trek. It kept me warm and it was easy to stow in my pack. I did order a medium and it is a little snug, but I works for how I had planned to use it. I’m 5’ 8” and 165 lbs. with an athletic build, if that helps anyone.

Awesome vest

The weight to warmth ratio of this vest is outstanding. I have solid colors that I wear to work and around town as well as camo versions in the field.

Somewhat Skeptical-4 Stars for now

At 5’5 165lbs bought a large. Fits well for layering over my base and under my Traverse cold weather hoody. Skeptical on such thin insulation but time will tell. Unfortunately I won’t know until Fall but it will be too late to turn back then! (For the money, a little thicker couldn’t hurt :)

the warmth this vest provided

the warmth this vest provided was incredible for how thin it was. Was very impressed. Not to mention how light weight and packable! Highly recommend

I have a variety of vests, for layering and warmth this is the best there is. Extremely packable and lightweight.

I have this vest in

I have this vest in green. I’m happy with the look, feel, fit, and function this has. It’s lighter and thinner than I anticipated. I think I may have gotten a dud in terms of its DWR. The back repels water like DWR should, but the front doesn’t even try to repel water it soaks it up as soon as it’s introduced to moisture leaving me wonder if this is a quality control issue.

I had an earlier version

I had an earlier version of this vest that I loved and it got lost in mailing while be repaired. Sitka gear did right by replacing this with the newer version. it is lighter in weight and it is definitely not the same fit. it is much smaller in size. I was wearing a 2 XL on the old vest and unfortunately I can't even order a 3 xl to get a better fit as that is not an option. I still like the vest but not as warm or comfortable as the older model.

Sizing is a little snug

Sizing is a little snug compared to the Aerolite jacket I have in the same size. Other than that it’s a fantastic vest. Incredibly light, warm and packable.

There are reviews commenting on the thinness of this garment. That is one of Sitka’s best features. I am 69 years old and find I need more layers to stay warm. I’ve replaced very good quality outer and mid layers with Incinerator jacket and bibs, a fanatic sweatshirt and this vest. Worn over a quality base layer I’ve stayed warm bowhunting Kansas in November with high winds and temps in the 20s and bowhunting Wisconsin in December with temps just below zero and windy. I now can wear one less layer and stay warm with much more range of motion and a lot less bulk. I was skeptical about the thinness also but the warmth to bulk ratio is incredible. I suggest studying the product features of each garment to buy what meets your needs. A trip to a retailer who stocks the product line was helpful to me to make my choices. Expensive? Yes. We spend a lot of money on other things so the question is how much will we spend to be comfortable?

To start off on a

To start off on a positive note, I am 6'1', 215 Lbs., and the XL fits well. For me that is where the positive ends. I was expecting something different. There is literally no insulation material between the inside and outside liners. The collar also has no 'stuffing' material in it, so its floppy like 2 pieces of parachute material would be when sewn together. This garment strikes me a purely cosmetic, without achieving even that goal due to the limp collar. At $200 ($159 On Sale), I regret buying this vest.

Great vest. I wear this for everyday wear as well as a base layer for skiing. Couldn't recommend enough. Excited to use it for next year's hunts!

This is my first comment

This is my first comment after enjoying Sitka clothing since 2006. The lead color vest is a stain magnet! I noticed a round stain on the back of it when I pulled it (new) out of the package, but thought nothing of it since I planned to wash it. After layering the vest for a day in the field, I noticed several spots on the front too. I washed according to instructions & the stains remained. I contacted customer service & they advised washing with Dawn in warm water. The stains were still there after the second wash. Customer service won’t accept a return on this vest under warranty/satisfaction conditions. Vest is warm & designed well… however, the material used in the lead color vest is not the normal Sitka quality.

I like the vest but

I like the vest but definitely not a warm vest. A lot thinner than I was expecting and a lot thinner than previous year models.

Color shown in pictures is

Color shown in pictures is a lot darker than it actually is. The jacket is more like a light olive color. Own a lot of Sitka gear and quality is always there but the color on this one is definitely misleading.

Without question Sitka Gear is

Without question Sitka Gear is the best out there. Love the way the vest fits. Great golf accessory just heavy enough for some insulation but light enough for a full range of motion. One issue is the material seems to stain easily. Overall this garment exceeded my expectations.

I love wearing vests and

I love wearing vests and Sitka is my favorite. I started with open country camo for hunting and now I have the solids for everyday wear.

I know all of you hunting folks will laugh but I’ve found this vest to be wonderful for golf. We started yesterday at 41 degrees. Perfect fit and light weight with exceptional warmth.

I’m a Sitka fanatic and

I’m a Sitka fanatic and love every piece of clothing I’ve purchased from Sitka. Except for this vest. For the price, I was expecting a lot more. This vest is as thin as a t-shirt with not very much insulation. I was expecting a puffy vest from the photos. The fit is perfect and I will use it as a layering piece. Just not what I expected.
