Sitka dog collar

This is a beautiful well-made collar. The clasp is horrible! The first trip in the woods, the dog lost it. I contacted Sitka and they were kind enough to send me a replacement. However, the replacement was found on the floor one day when I came in from being gone. The clasp comes undone too easily. We like it so much, we might try to take it somewhere and have someone sew a better clasp on it.

Sitka dog collar

Dog collar

Twice in the last week the collar unlatched while petting my dog. Normally you need to depress both sides of latch to put on or take off. 2nd time was on a walk with people and other dogs and my dog in training didn’t want to come back right away. Little scary because we walk by the Mississippi River and still had some ice on it! Put the old, boring collar back on. Loved the look and matched her colors but don’t trust the latch, maybe got a defective latch? Sucks, cause I’m a huge Sitka guy and everything else Sitka is Top quality, my Best stuff! Latch should maybe curve with the neck, large bulky buckle isn’t cutting it!

Good looking collar

I’m happy with this purchase. Collar and matching leash seem well made. I haven’t had the issues others report of it coming unbuckled. It’s been used on my son’s beagle for a few months now. Cleans up easily when he decides to roll in cow crap.

Great look but flawed …

Awesome collar

Looks sharp. The clasp is super easy to open. You can open it with one hand which is great. Super stylish and great materials. Not excessively thick material which is what I was looking for. I’d definitely purchase again.

Looked great, but lost forever!

Wish I would have read the reviews before I wasted my money. The latch doesn’t stay closed and the collar falls off. This has happened 2 previous times, once in the field and once at home. But today’s hunt it fell off in the river to never be seen again. Medium is about max size for a 55 pound female lab.

Disappointed

Bought two of these collars for my dogs, one of them came unlatched in the yard and I found it. Two weeks later we got home from walking out in the country and my other dog was missing hers. I would not recommend these, they will not stay on your dog and you are wasting your money.

Cool collar terrible functionality

Collars look great but they come undone way too easily. Collar came off while they were in the woods. Now I’m out of a collar, name tag, and rabies tag. Cobra clips are probably best used under tension which I would not do to my dog. Maybe should be redesigned with the classic buckle clip. Will not be buying again.

Cool collar, very flawed latch design.

Collar looks great and is super cool, except for the latches which come undone very easily. My dog would move and the collar would come undone. Also came undone when playing with other dogs. Not very secure or safe in wild situations where you absolutely must trust that your dog won’t come free or escape. One side of the latch moves and it opens up completely. Shouldn’t happen for a pricier collar. Collar came off when my dog was in his crate and he chewed it to pieces.

I love the color, But.

I have 2 of these and my younger griff is really hard on his collars and has not lost his collar yet. but I saw a review that said that they fall off and didn't think that it would really have the buckle open, but I had it happen. lol luckily I was walking the same path as my pup, I looked down to see it laying in the trail and not in a bush.

Great Looks but needs a fix

I'm giving this collar 5 stars for looks (I've got a ton of Optifade gear) and a one star for the buckle. It's popped off Hudson twice. See the 1 star reviews. They're right on. Yes; the latch springs need to be way stronger. BUT! there is fix for this. Go to your local hardware store and buy a 1-1/16 in OD by 13/16 in ID neoprene O ring. Put over the tab end and stretch it up onto the large part of the buckle. Snap the tab into the other side and roll the O ring into the gap in front of the tabs you push to unbuckle the collar. They won move unless you pry the O ring out and up over the buckle. A 1-1/16 OD x 7/8 ID installed the same way can be opened with moderately strong hand pressure on the tabs but can result in losing the O ring if you don't keep an eye on it.

Latch needs to be redesigned

Very nice collar but the latch needs improvement. My wife would find the collar around the house after our dog would scratch the area with her back foot. We lost the collar on opening morning of duck season this year while the dog was on a retrieve. I’ve been waiting years for Sitka to drop a dog collar so the results are disappointing. I’ll likely pick up another one and try to zip tie the latch/buckle.
