Sitka dog collar

I’ve been really impressed with the Sitka Dog Collar. The build quality is excellent and it feels very durable while still being comfortable for my dog. The materials hold up well to mud, water, and everyday wear, which is exactly what I was looking for. The fit is great, it adjusts easily, and the design looks sharp. Overall, it’s a high-quality collar that’s clearly made to last—definitely worth it.

Works good

Worked good on my British lab.

Disappointed

Bought two of these collars for my dogs, one of them came unlatched in the yard and I found it. Two weeks later we got home from walking out in the country and my other dog was missing hers. I would not recommend these, they will not stay on your dog and you are wasting your money.

Looked great, but lost forever!

Wish I would have read the reviews before I wasted my money. The latch doesn’t stay closed and the collar falls off. This has happened 2 previous times, once in the field and once at home. But today’s hunt it fell off in the river to never be seen again. Medium is about max size for a 55 pound female lab.

Dog lost it

Love the material of the collar, but the buckle it self makes it come off easy. My dogs collar is now siting in the bottom of a duck hole due to the buckle.

My Human got me this great collar & leash

My human got me this great collar and leash. We love the orange so we can be seen while hunting. The adjustable fit is comfortable and the leash is a great length and adjustable too! Thanks Sitka Gear for the great dog gear!

Cool collar terrible functionality

Collars look great but they come undone way too easily. Collar came off while they were in the woods. Now I’m out of a collar, name tag, and rabies tag. Cobra clips are probably best used under tension which I would not do to my dog. Maybe should be redesigned with the classic buckle clip. Will not be buying again.

Poor buckle design

Overall the collar is alright. However I have had the dog lose the collar on multiple occasions. The last time being in the field and unable to recover it.

Fits lab perfect

Cool collar, very flawed latch design.

Collar looks great and is super cool, except for the latches which come undone very easily. My dog would move and the collar would come undone. Also came undone when playing with other dogs. Not very secure or safe in wild situations where you absolutely must trust that your dog won’t come free or escape. One side of the latch moves and it opens up completely. Shouldn’t happen for a pricier collar. Collar came off when my dog was in his crate and he chewed it to pieces.

Not great

Good looking collar! Sadly functionality is terrible! Collar will come off without any strenuous activity. I wish I would’ve listened to others reviews regarding this collar. I love all of my sitka gear however, this collar needs some major improvements.

Great Looks but needs a fix

I'm giving this collar 5 stars for looks (I've got a ton of Optifade gear) and a one star for the buckle. It's popped off Hudson twice. See the 1 star reviews. They're right on. Yes; the latch springs need to be way stronger. BUT! there is fix for this. Go to your local hardware store and buy a 1-1/16 in OD by 13/16 in ID neoprene O ring. Put over the tab end and stretch it up onto the large part of the buckle. Snap the tab into the other side and roll the O ring into the gap in front of the tabs you push to unbuckle the collar. They won move unless you pry the O ring out and up over the buckle. A 1-1/16 OD x 7/8 ID installed the same way can be opened with moderately strong hand pressure on the tabs but can result in losing the O ring if you don't keep an eye on it.

Great dog dollar

Seems to be well built. The buckle is the same snap type I have on my tree saddle. Time will tell how it holds up, but looks great on my chocolate lab for now!

Faulty buckles

Love the looks of these collars. Was so excited to see them, I bought them in 3 different colors. Unfortunately, the buckles keep coming unlatched and we find the collars laying around the house and yard.

Dog collar

Like the collar. Got the wrong size but that’s probably my fault. Metal clip but then a plastic clip to loop. Why not make it metal as well?

Latch isnt good

It looks good. . . . but first outing this year it popped off and I lost it. Needs a better latch. Was pretty bummed about it

I love the color, But.

I have 2 of these and my younger griff is really hard on his collars and has not lost his collar yet. but I saw a review that said that they fall off and didn't think that it would really have the buckle open, but I had it happen. lol luckily I was walking the same path as my pup, I looked down to see it laying in the trail and not in a bush.

This collar appears to be very well made. Love the adjustability of size! Metal buckle looks like it should up very well over time! Very pleased with this product

Latch needs to be redesigned

Very nice collar but the latch needs improvement. My wife would find the collar around the house after our dog would scratch the area with her back foot. We lost the collar on opening morning of duck season this year while the dog was on a retrieve. I’ve been waiting years for Sitka to drop a dog collar so the results are disappointing. I’ll likely pick up another one and try to zip tie the latch/buckle.

Terrible latch design

Definitely would not recommend this collar. Wore it on one hunt this year, collar came unclipped in the corn. My buddy happened to find it, so I put it back on. Only to have it come unclipped again in the corn on the way out of the field. Very poor design. Would much rather see the old style belt buckle type collar than this.

Lightweight but rugged. This is the collar I would choose.

Best collar ever

Best made collar. Heavy duty buckle with quick release. Does not stretch out, stays the perfect size for my dog. Bear likes it and seems to be comfortable wearing it.

Sizing

My GSP's necksize is 17. 5". I ordered the Large first and then after speaking with customer service, ordered the XL. Both were too small and returned. See pic for details.

Nice, but needs improved

Nice collar, looks great, love the buckle function but it releases too easy. Dog knocked it off scratching a few times.

Optimistic sizing.

I wanted this collar so much. Unfortunately, the sizing listed was way off. My GSP has a neck size of 17. 5" and the Large should have fit. The return process was easy enough and i chatted with customer service who told me a few of his friends had GSPs and the XL would work for me. Just sent back the XL today and awaiting refunds for both. See pic for both collars fully extended for accurate sizing. -JC

Good Dog Collar

The collar is nice. The webbing is tough, good color, and the buckle is nice. Only thing I would change is to plastic coat the webbing material so it is waterproof. Ill just switch to a regular plastic one when being around water. The buckles make it difficult to slide anything onto the webbing like and ID plate, but it's not that big of a deal

One fault

Nice collar, excellent quality in materials and workmanship. The One fault is that the collar's release mechanism is too easily invariantly activated. This can be somewhat alleviated with a properly sized rubber o-ring placed in and around the slot that the release mechanism is pushed into. 👉🚴🏼🚴🏼🚴🏼🇺🇸🫡

Collar comes off randomly

Got a collar for my German short haired pointer. I’ve had it for 2 1/2 weeks and it has fallen off 6 times. The latch needs redesigned!! Fell off in the woods, I no longer have the collar (the collars new home is somewhere in the woods). I have never had a collar fall off even dollar store collars. Please redesigned latch.
