Kelvin Down Jacket

This is a new one...I had to write a review even though I do not even own one of these. I have worn my boyfriend's and it survived a treacherous trip to Canada and Alaska, both at wilderness lodges. It went through rain, snow, cold and wind and I never once got wet or cold. This was an amazing jacket in pretty cold places. He's a huge Sitka supporter and has just about everything you guys carry- maybe he'll get me one for Christmas. I told him they were on sale. :)

I agree with the sentiments

I agree with the sentiments of other reviewers. Bought this jacket to replace another I tragically lost— this one is cheap comparatively.. zipper does get stuck. Pockets are terrible. If this was the first Sitka jacket I had ever purchased, I would absolutely not be a return customer. That being said, I am unsure I’ll buy again regardless because the second jacket I bought on this order also feels insanely cheap compared to what I had gotten a few years ago from Sitka.

Have been a huge fan

Have been a huge fan of all of my Sitka gear for years until this jacket. Zipper gets stuck on fabric as mentioned and durability is terrible. Jacket was worn once and torn with stuffing coming out. Jacket feels very cheaply made.

She refuses to wear this jacket because the zipper always gets stuck, so I am forced to return this. Unfortunately, this was a bad first impression of Sitka for her...

Quality product and look forward

Quality product and look forward to testing the jacket in the backcountry. My wife and I both purchased the Kelvin down. My only complaint is the women Kelvin down jacket's zipper has a lip of material on the inside and along the length of the zipper. I note this as a complaint because the zipper catches this material and often becomes a pain to remove. The men's Kelvin down does not have this material behind the zipper and wonder if this could be replicated on the women's version.

I’m both embarrassed by and

I’m both embarrassed by and disappointed with this purchase. I have been a steadfast believer in Sitka for many years so much so that I purchase products for our dog club banquets, judges gifts, fundraisers, etc. I purchased most of my kennel staff the Fahrenheit coat for Christmas last winter. I have read numerous reviews and complaints on the zipper and have experienced it myself but with the confidence I had in Sitka, I figured 365 days and numerous complaints of the zipper, the problem would have been resolved. Needless to say when I was met with the same flimsy zipper on this jacket I was astonished. Still I gave it a chance since I ordered a small instead of an XS (not offered anymore) and was met with the same frustrating defect. In addition the first time I wore the coat was through the pasture on a walk for pheasants with the dogs the wind was blowing the snow at about 30/35 mph and I will say I was warm and the configuration of the jacket allows for comfortable shouldering of the gun without the bulk but after one walk I looked down at my sleeve to see a tear that had already happened…durability is a 1 and the fact that the zipper is what it is, earned this jacket a 2 star review for me.

Love the fit of this

Love the fit of this jacket; consistent with other Sitka products. Two complaints - as others noted the zipper inner lining get caught in zipper when stressed. I will hand-sew the flap back so it cannot get caught. Only other complaints is the hood fabric is VERYnoisy against ears when up. I bought because the hood fit so well and wanted it for hunting and fishing to keep wind out of ears. It makes so much noise that I have had to drop hood down to get some relief from constant crackling sound. It would be nice if the length was a couple inches longer. I am average size 5’6” at 125 lbs. and usually where small. Sitka clothing tends to fit snugly with any layering.

Great jacket but darn zipper gets caught so easily. Makes it hard for my wife to use. She loves the jacket but she would like to return if she could because of the zipper. Almost impossible to unzip with gloves.

I am pleased with the

I am pleased with the lightness of this jacket, yet packs the warmth. I ordered a small and it fits well. A heavy hooded sweatshirt makes the fit a little too snug for my liking. The zipper does get caught on the inside material quite often so you have to be cautious when zipping. My husband purchased the same jacket and his has the same issues with the zipper. I am 5’4” 124lbs.

Zipper wouldn’t unzip to even try it on when I received it! So disappointed! Why did sitka put on such a small size zipper in this womens jacket while the mens have a larger gage zipper suitable for the bulk of the jacket. Regrettably returning jacket.

Love this jacket, BUT the zipper concerns are correct: it’s a pain in the butt! The problem is too much material on the inside seem that gets caught up, causing the zipper to jam. It seems it’d be an easy fix for production to solve… otherwise, love the fit. Stoked on the long arms and extra length at waist. Color is spot on and it’s super warm!

I ordered this coat because

I ordered this coat because I felt like I needed something warmer than my mountain jacket for our cold snowy elk seasons. My mountain jacket is XL with lots of extra room for layers. I decided this jacket I wanted to order true to size with a L. I am 5'10' and 180lbs with a large bust. This jacket fit perfectly and allows a little room for layers. I have worn this jacket for one cold elk season. It was 30-34' with 25-30mph winds with gusts up to 45mph. To say it was cold was an understatement, the wind was brutal. I have to say I am shocked this jacket kept me warm with minimal layers while spotting. This jacket is packable, light weight, provides wind protection, and warm! Best coat I have ever purchased and worth every penny!!

This jacket is great and would be a 5 star if it weren’t for the zipper. Reviews are correct … it gets stuck way too much and that is not convenient in the woods. Good hood size and coverage, sleeve length and the rest of the jacket are perfect . This zipper problem isn’t new. I bought another jacket last year with the same deal. Frustrating .

Stars may be more, may be less. Bought my wife this jacket in women's small. She is 5’2 100 lbs. She could not get it on. The jacket appears to be a youth small at best. It’s made to be layered but I don't see how. Working with Sitka rep to resolve. Will repost when this issue is resolved. Overall I love all the Sitka products but this sizing on this jacket is insanely small. They are researching the jacket to get the sizing issue corrected for future customers. For now size up.

Great Jacket!

The fit is great. Ultimately I bought a large as the small was a bit too fitted for an outer layer and the medium never became available. At 5’7” and 150lbs, I’m sure a medium would have been perfect, however I am very satisfied with the roominess of the large. The color is beautiful and it’s very warm without bulk.

Perfect except for the zipper.
